    Great Video Rich, My favourite update is the linking of Library Cut Profiles, Makes it so much easier when you make a quick change, due to laser not seeming so powerful, or maybe the plywood is a little tougher to cut than other sheets, and voila, all other existing projects, have automatically been updated.

    Thanks for the tutorial, Rich. I had asked you about this exact update issue under a different video, yesterday. I am glad you made a whole tutorial about this update issue. I was "temporarily" getting around the issue this morning by duplicating text and creating two separate layers. One layer for "fill" and the other layer for "line." Then just overlaying the line layer over the fill layer. This "work-around" requires a few extra steps, but it worked great. However, I like being able to create multiple steps in one layer now after the update. Way cool! 👍

    This was sooo helpful. But I'm still a bit stuck on something. I downloaded your library before the update. Now, when I go to try and do a "universal test", the mode is greyed out, and set to "fill". If I click to unlink, then all the values are the same...I'm assuming because the original wasn't formatted in the sub layer version. Is there a new universal key I can download? Or just delete and the download again? Or do I have something selected somewhere I need to uncheck?

    In Line after Fill mode the Line outlines and highlights all the lines in the file. If you want to cutout the outer perimeter of the file it looks like you would have to have a separate layer. I ran your coin file and the first line sub layer outlined all the lines in the file as it was supposed to, but the second sub layer (which I wanted to cutout the file) actually cutout ever line in the file, destroying it. Is there a get around?

The cut lines look normal in the software but when I do a preview some of the line in the puzzle pattern look incomplete (they stop at one point and continue after). Does that mean that when I cut it some lines are not going cut through?

    Lightburn did a really good start to a new feature but I think it can use a bit of finishing or polishing of the feature. The immediate problem I had is also the library is converted to this but the old library only had 1 layer to each. It didn't seem to convert line+fill to 2 layers so they all need to be Edited.
    What if a library for ease of future needs be built as a single layers library, opening and selecting a library entry with options like "Assign to layer" which exists and "Assign to selected sub layer", "Add sub Layer". Currently it seems the sub layers need to be manually built by writing down all the settings and manually applying them to sub layers. I can see a use for library entries that are multiple sub layers and some a single layer to be added to the project layer as layers or sub layers.

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      That was on the advisory notes for the upgrade. Line + Fill is gone and will need to be redone. There's no polishing that can be done since the feature is now replaced with a better version. I understand your pain... there are several Win95 programs I wish I still had.

    • @3dtwerking324
      @3dtwerking324 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy That is sad! As it sits the library is fairly useless to galvo. I had to write all mine out so I had it to manually add sub layers making the library useless in some cases. The ezcad way is to place multiple identical objects on top of each other and set each with different settings, that is difficult later to see what is happening. The Lightburn way is (potentially) much better but doing so defeats the purpose of the library or creates gazillions of entries. Note that you cannot use the lightburn library for reference while you are manually entering into a working layer. So you need it all on paper rendering the library useless.
      A problem I ran into many times as a programmer, sometimes is is easier to manage a smaller list of raw entries than a larger list of the massive amount of combinations the raw entries can produce. Combine that with the ability to have a few combined entries for high use is awesome. What you will find with combined entries is you often do not have the one you need for the job and have to manually modify it without being able to reference the library to do it! This gets tedious and uses a lot of little pieces of paper. It also greatly increases the risks of mistakes! We all know the possible combinations to the lottery! Apply that math to combinations of operations in lightburn, its exponential. The more possibilities the less likely there is a library entry to fit this unique job, their all unique.
      The example I used is a 4 operation process to lightburn. I have used many more than 4 operations on 1 object engrave. The more operations the more combinations the more library entries until it is unusable.
      My example is:
      Library setup RAW Library. Single entries no sub layers or maybe a few if always used together. Deep engrave entry, Cleanup Entry, White Engrave Entry, Black Engrave Entry and anneal entry (of course many more but for the example)
      Library Setup WORKING - Entries that could or most likely have have sub layers. Deep Engrave steel + Cleanup, Deep engrave Brass + Cleanup. Cleanup + mark black steel. etc...
      Project - Hobby Guy - Hobby in Black, Guy in White.
      Working project. BLACK Layer 00 - Assign to "Hobby" - Sub Layer 1 Deep engrave, sub layer2 cleanup, sub layer 3 black engrave, sub layer 4 anneal. BLUE layer 01 - sub layer 1 Deep engrave, sub layer 2 cleanup, sub layer 3 White engrave, sub layer 4 anneal.
      Assigning the layers / sub layers would be as easy as it always has been in Lightburn, either pick from the library and "Assign to Layer" or "Assign to added Sub Layer". Then you can pick your operations and 1 button assign them from the library.
      As you can see if I setup a library entry for each possible combination just with Black, White, Tan, silver and 20 different metals I'm looking at now 80 library entries. Now add anneal/don't anneal its 160 entries etc. That will easily be 6000 entries and unmanageable never mind time consuming to create and maintain with each variation. The simple way is Lightburn add the ability to assign a library entry to a sub layer. All that complexity goes away as the machine operator knows what is needed for operations. Operations that are constantly re-used can be put in as a multi entry, other operations as singles.
      Its a classic and we have all seen it developer trying to make it too simple. Sometimes simple is far more complicated! The simple fact of multiple operations on a single working layer is AWESOME but rapidly becomes insanely complicated without the right features.
