    This was beautiful as I am an INFJ and my younger brother is an ISFP. We have never really had a conversation about deep things because of an age gap and also not knowing how tk navigate one another's personalities. This feels like a tremendous help tk build a relationship between us that we've never really had. Thank you! (I bet this comment will send your heart soaring!

      @Jonathan Oof hard disagree! My boyfriend is extremely intelligent, creative, and talented, and because he's an ISFP, he's the most intuitive of all sensors. Sounds like you've had a bad experience with this type; hopefully you can heal. My bf is both what I want (compassionate, supportive, easygoing, affectionate, etc) AND need (helps me live in the moment, helps me step outside my comfort zone, reduces my stress, doesn't sap my energy, etc). Type is but a blueprint of an individual -- there is so much more to a person.

    I'm an INFJ (female), and I've been dating an ISFP (male) for 1.5 years. He's easy to be around, a deep thinker and intellectual, and such a fun-spirited human. I encourage his creative pursuits and other interests (and I make sure to tell him how talented he is, because he doesn't believe me!) He helps me live in the moment, stay grounded and rational, and step outside my comfort zone to enjoy new experiences and adventures. We bond over our love of nature, road trips, hiking, cinematography and film, music, and food. We also share the same worldview and political / religious values, which lends itself to some AMAZING conversations and passionate rants. Our biggest challenge is probably the JxP divide and my need to plan things (hard when you live two cities away), and sometimes he's fine with a sensory-loaded environment while I'm craving more one on one conversation, but other than that, our time together is splendid. He's my kind, loving, steady human, and I think I'll treasure our relationship forever, come what may.

    This guy has so many mannerisms that remind me of someone at work whom I suspect is an ISFP. Not that he is an ISFP, necessarily....
    I also think we (I'm an INFJ) seemed to hit it off initially.
    He seems very playful and funny, and also seems to want to relate in a respectful or harmonious way with other people.
    I value almost nothing more than respecting others' individuality and autonomy. I want to be nondirective and hands-off, which also seems important to the ISFP in this video.
    Unlike the ENTJ in one of your other videos, who likes to nurture others by "taking them under her wing" and "advising" them, I seek to nurture people by trusting in their ability to figure out their lives for themselves. I really appreciate that kind of support coming from other people, that faith in one's being able to succeed by being true to themselves.
    Authenticity is also high on my list of things I strive for. Life is too short to pretend I'm someone I'm not, although as an INFJ who at times over-identifies with other people, I need a lot of time to process social interactions so I can respond with the voice that is most truly my own.

    About the comment "you're an incredibly mature ISFP". That's one way we are misunderstood, I think. I do act goofy, but it's to balance out the deeper side of me (rolling my eyes here at my own cheesy comment). A good example of this is that song lyric "shove me into shallow water before I get too deep..."

    • @GiannaDianthee
      @GiannaDianthee  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I meant to describe his maturity in his function development, ISFPs are in no way less mature in personality than others. Maturity comes down to the individual, not a type as a whole. If anything they're a type that's more comfortable showing how dynamic they are (outwardly) than others :)

    ISFP here with one of my closest friends being an INFJ. At least I've typed her as INFJ and am pretty confident it fits. We seem to have very interesting, often similar views on the world. We also seem to have complementary insights into how people think and stuff.
    One difference is that she has very exacting standards of people which if not met mean she is unlikely to let them get that close to her. I tend to let the good I see in people help me get past the issues and often give people the benefit of the doubt. The difficulty for me is that I am often a little too generous in this regard and some might say I let people walk over me a little although I'd say that's slightly missing the point and that I am happy in myself and enjoy sharing that. The difficulty for her is that she often struggles to be happy in the company of anyone because it is very hard for anyone to meet her standards and the people who seem to May only be a facade.
    Another issue I have is that I can't plan in the future while she has already planned the next 60 years of her life it seems

      I have that problem to i dont like anyone to be a friend of me only if that person have some standart but i guess a standart the minimum of it would be to be a person who simple can be a good company like useful or someone who understands or appreaciate the things i dislike about people is waste of time and fake people just go away lmao
      I would love to build a plan for the future i have so many plans but when i learn the good of other types a door example closes and a better open would be my dream to learn all types function interaction and give them the best experiences best solutions to any situation of plan wanna so much gather friends like any type and to build up respect about each other to make hypothesis prove them and make life better

It's kind of wierd how much random things I end up doing. I don't play video games though.
      I can imagine it is hard for an INFJ to be present because, from my experience of my friend, her mind is working overtime trying to analyse and categorise people and figure out if they are fake and a waste of time I guess. She also studies philosophy which I guess goes with that. What area of the world are you from? Also, what do you find your mind wanders to when you should be studying?

    I'm an ISFP and want to know more about it since it seems to nail my personality to a T. But in the process of learning I do feel boxed in as though every letter description is rigid and unyielding, telling me how I have to be. Life, for me at least, is much more fluid and less linear. And I do understand that in order to understand the different types, you have to put characteristics in categories and talk about them, but it makes me feel nervous somehow, like this is how I'm expected to be. I don't want to feel that restraint but be free to be who I am, and if I act just like the profile says I do, it's all good because it happened genuinely, not affectively.

    • @GiannaDianthee
      @GiannaDianthee  5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It's so important for any personality theory to be a catalyst for self-reflection and to not have it define or restrict you in anyway. It's absolutely what you make of it, for me it's been like a little template for me valuing and holding space for others differences. People are so complex and exhibit traits beyond their mbti type so what you feel makes complete sense. x

    • @FishingwithFastGM3
      @FishingwithFastGM3 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think that's common for us ISFP's. I'm a male ISFP and after my INFJ wife started deep diving into personality traits, it took me a while to buy into it. I felt like it was a label somebody want to put on me. Perhaps like you described it made me feel boxed in like I had to buy into it. But not til I knew I needed to understand her passion for these traits did I decide to dive in on my own and on my own time. Once I did I was amazed at the similarities behind these personality traits, they really matched both our types very well. I liked my new label of ISFP-T so much, I was really nervous to retest. I felt anxiety like what if this trait match I found and like so much, changes if I retest. I went ahead and did a retest on a different site that struck my interest, the questions were a bit different. I was so nervous to see the results but stunned and very pleased that I am indeed still an ISFP. I knew my INFJ like the back of my hand cause that's what us ISFP are also good at but knowing her personality traits more in depth explains so much. I feel it makes our relationship even better, she understand me a lot more as well. Love the video, I hope you two are still together.

    For all the flowery talk of learning from each other, I eventually realized that she had not tried any of the movies/shows/songs/activities that I recommended, while I tried almost all of her's.
    She saw me as a 'project', who needed to reach a level of consciousness that she perceives that she has reached. After a few weeks, I couldn't stand her anymore.

    This is so interesting! I've been trying to tell if I'm ISFP or INFJ so this video was just what I needed. Thank you for posting it! I am curious though- do you think an ISFP who grew up in a heavy Fe environment would develop Fe? Part of my confusion is I use Fe so much, but I think I use it in an unhealthy way (it's like I sweep myself under a rug to make room for other people's emotions, and I'm very careful to not hurt anyone's feelings). I really relate to the Ni-Ti stress loop, and have been going through something that could be described as an Ni-Ti loop with my story writing process. Can you think of anything that might explain that issue in an ISFP? Would one of the functions cause an ISFP to constantly restart and take apart their idea, and in doing so halt the progress?

      ooh I can understand your confusion. I do know of ISFPs that lack self-assurance. They do care just as deeply about the wellbeing of an individual just as much as an INFJ would. Your upbringing would most certainly play a huge role in how you utilise your functions. I would really suggest taking a deeper look into the Fi-Ni loop which ISFPs experience as well as inferior Te, there may be some overlap in what you’re describing. Best of luck! I hope you make great progress with your writing! x

      Thank you for the reply! I'll do more research on the loops and how inferior Te shows up in the personality. All the best :)

      My ISTP husband is also very concerned about being sensitive to others. For example, when driving, he’s very conscientious about not tailgating, etc.

    I only just found your channel. I really enjoyed this video as it was very informative and entertaining. You're a very beautiful woman primarily due to your skin which makes your videos very aesthetically comfortable to watch. During the video, I couldn't but help consider how you two would be in a relationship... There seems to be a deeply caring connection. I have subscribed. Thankyou for your wonderful videos.

    I (ISFP) dated an INFJ for 3 years. He was a good guy, but I was totally miserable as we were so so different. He was so introverted to a point where i felt he wasnt on this planet and so detached. I felt so lonely. I wouldn't recommend it. He was however very loyal and loving, but what's the point when you're miserable and bored, he would just play video game 95% of the time 😒... was would say he was an under-developed INFJ

      Hannah Marie my ISFP husband plays video games most of the time that he’s home and earlier in our relationship it was mainly what we would fight about. I desire connection much more often. Seems it’s more of an extreme introvert withdrawal thing in general, some would say a maladaptive coping strategy. Could be worse.

    "Would you rather...." is not broadminded. It narrows down your viewpoint to some stupidly arbitrary time-bound judgment. So yeah, it "boxes one in." Pointless silly fun, but it narrows one's scope, however momentarily.
