DISCLAIMER: Please do not treat this match as an accurate representation of the Chessmon deck's performance. This is what it is able to do about 10% or less of the time. The deck is extremely clunky, inconsistent and piece-reliant, and oftentimes simply self-destructs without being able to pull off any combos because you just didn't draw into chess pieces of the right level. I only got this match after several rounds of play, but I'm glad I was able to showcase the deck popping off to some extent. The recipe I'm using (esp the Jiji/Mame tech) is inspired by a Japanese player's recipe that topped an extremely small event but the original runs 2 Quartzmon instead of 2 removal Options. I didn't run Quartz to stay true to theme as usual and I wouldn't have drawn into it anyway, but yall can imagine what would happen if it hits the field on a complete chessboard. On the other hand, this matchup makes Leopardmon look more insane than it actually is cos the Chessmon deck has no inherent removal. The Green build hasn't been seeing much success in Japan and it often doesn't have the luxury of setting up completely (or remaining on the field) against actual meta contenders. However, like in this video, it's an absolute beast under the right conditions.
This is why I prefer purple base chessmon. It can run ignitemon and pandemonium flames for removal. Add in purple tapirmon with maki and shinegrey ruin mode, and the deck actually has something going for it.
I didn't expect this matchup would be the most intense one of the Roundtable with so many good matches, but here we are. Really enjoyed this one, these two archetypes fit really well together, and now i'm looking forward to trying the decks
This was a fascinating match-up! I don't think I've ever seen such defensive army decks go up against each other. It was honestly hard to tell who had game or what the smartest moves to make were, and maybe I'm just saying this because of one side's aesthetics but it honestly felt like a chess match.
You could also rename the title as DCG Battle of the Blockers. BTW. I'm building both these decks. I'm so happy about the match. Awesome feature as always, Rust.
I was expecting Leopardmon vs. Chess would be silly, but I didn't think they could really spam like that when they prop off properly. And Leopardmon is basically Mervamon but more conventional since it doesn't require a Keyword
I hadn't thought about Jijimon as a level 6, but it makes sense with all the tamers. I also run 2 Maki from BT9 along with her Tapirmon, and have Zwart as the top end. His on digivolve can bring back some blockers while filling up the trash, and the on attack to return a level 6 to your hand can recycle your KingChessmon to use again which I've found really helpful. Still get wrecked by fast decks like Shine and blue decks that bounce or freeze your Digimon, but still really fun to play!
Yea my initial build used Zwart as well! But after testing out the Jiji/Mame engine, I decided to go all in. The issue I had is that, many times, it isn't worth going into King/Queen at the start (even if you force a Zwart through them, it's like the additional 3 cost is somewhat wasted). So I got the idea from a Japanese player's recipe to use Jiji as the setup Lv.6 to pave the way for King/Queen plays
Chessmon need that tech-in DeX to keep up with serious threats so they can keep the offensive pressure up. Still an amazing looking performance even if it isnt guaranteed all the time
Both the decks I kinda want to play, probably going to try a blue/green leopard with the og to be able to play extra digimon. Chessmon may be worth running joe and izzy for extra card draw and memory
Pretty good match up and really fun to watch! Most of the spamming deck nowaday really impossible to fight with the current meta. It is good choice that you put this 2 together in the first match up which give both of them a chance to show their full potential or else both of these will get crush by the other deck.
This was honestly a very heart punding match. I did wonder why Leopardmon didn't just attack with all the rookies in the end since black Chessmons not counting pawn couldn't die against them which would just leave Chessmon open for attack due to not being able to replace itself Edit: looked at video again and before the green memory boost Chessmon had 4 blockers and Leopardmon had 5 rookies.
Like I mentioned in the video (10:30, in text), it's cos Taiga was giving all of Leopardmon's Digimon +2000 DP, so they couldn't sneak attack like that
My God, I mean, Yggdrasil. I didn't expect the eff of Duft Leopard mode to not be1/turn. Duftmon had won this match even before stepping in the battlefield, that's the strategist of the Royal Knights, it's brain is at higher levels
This entire thing is spoilers so, if you don't want to be spoiled skip this until the end of the vid. When I saw rust popping off with chess I was wondering what type of heart of the card's he had. I tested the chessmon deck around when this tournament started and was confused on why it was so clunky and slow. During the vid I started thinking "oh, this deck is like the linkz deck where it NEEDS its tamer to fully function." Then I read rusts comment. Seems like both decks were slow enough to let the other pop off to some extent but leopard was just better.
What an incredible match. The absolute back and forth really gave off the impression of a battle of wits. But ultimately, the tactician who proved superior was the one who would willingly step into the battlefield Really gets a guy hyped for the next battle.
You know looking over this fight, Leopardmon could've won a whole lot sooner if it had the Offensive and/or Hi Speed Plug-Ins, can't be blocked and a +1 Security attack does great for Pressure
Hooooh boy this eas one intense match and it truly is check and mate in the end. Although I have a question, during Duftmon Leopard mode at 6:25 it had piercing, couldn't he just target the opponent digimon instead of attacking the security after the pierce attack? Or is the pierce only once per hit?
KingChessmon: Im-... Impossible! No mere beast could ever-... SHOULD ever... Leopardmon(Duftmon): There is a reason I am the TACTICIAN of the Royal Knights... KingChessmon: My soldiers... M-M-My Queen!!! Leopardmon: Go ahead... Pick up your scepter, King... Pick. It. Up!
rizegreymon package would be a better fit imo. helps get tamers out for free, deletes your opponent's digimon by decreasing their DP, and the digi burst effect will help fill trash faster.
If Leopard mode gets de-digievolved, for example by that security black chikurimon , and It had already used its main effect as leopardmon, can It now use it again? Or does the once per turn carry on through de-digievolve?
Holy crap I never thought about putting Jiji and Mame among them just to get out the Chess army and their tamers. I have a IRL Chess deck and I prefer with starting with plenty of memory with Cody while also controlling opponent's board from going out of contro with dedigivolve cards like [DG Dimension]. (I also teched in ST10 Mastemon just for the deletion and revival of the Queen to delete a level 6 or lower) I really hope the Chess get more support in the future because the amount of Chessmons now is restraining the deck from going all out.
Damn, I wish Chessmon was more consistent because it's honestly the cooler deck, I hope that it gets more support. The leopardmon deck doesn't interest me much, as it seems to just be Ulforce but Digimon in stead of tamers.
I think the chessmon could’ve won. If they attacked with all of their non blockers on their last turn, it would’ve gotten rid of all the rookies, or the leopardmon would have been forced to allow them to play more cards, thus giving potentially more blockers on chessmon’s side, while also making king chessmon a blocker

Well even if these 2 decks aren’t as good as they seem, they still made for an entertaining video
This is why I prefer purple base chessmon. It can run ignitemon and pandemonium flames for removal. Add in purple tapirmon with maki and shinegrey ruin mode, and the deck actually has something going for it.
the new mulligan rule will also help with the consistency of all decks.
looks like i wasted money trying to build a deck then...
I know Chessmon doesn’t usually play this good but I can’t deny… this was very fun. These are definitely 2 decks I want to see more of in the future.

I love what they did with Leopardmon. It easily has one of the most fun win conditions and is only held back by lack of beasts.
Leopard on might give ulforce a run for its money with your much restanding it does lol
What a swarming battle between a bunch of chess pieces and beasts
Duftmon showing the power of his strategy, that memory boost sure came in clutch.
Truly a magnificent checkmate performed by our beloved tactician
You could also rename the title as DCG Battle of the Blockers.

Dang the duo was so close yet so far for victory but that was amazing I was surprised you armed Megumi and Miki with Jijimon
I hadn't thought about Jijimon as a level 6, but it makes sense with all the tamers. I also run 2 Maki from BT9 along with her Tapirmon, and have Zwart as the top end. this was such an interesting mach. This is the first time I see an interaction like that between two decks
Leopardmon board reminding me of a BT10 Bloomlordmon match. That's green for you. I'm actually surprised the chessmon deck did this well.
Man all those attacks at the end. Green Ulforce is nice.
Chessmon need that tech-in DeX to keep up with serious threats so they can keep the offensive pressure up. Still an amazing looking performance even if it isnt guaranteed all the time
That's a lot of Digimon and Tamers on the battle area... Perfect environment for the proliferation of the plague known as DeathXmon.
Both the decks I kinda want to play, probably going to try a blue/green leopard with the og to be able to play extra digimon. Chessmon may be worth running joe and izzy for extra card draw and memory
this actually felt like a chess match lmao

The matchups were completely rng though haha, I guess things just work out sometimes
Very fun match, definitely looking to try out both of these decks when bt13 drops :)

@@rustmarrow true forgot that bit.
It made most lv3 4k which is enough for Knight to die
Yep, otherwise I would have definitely gone for the Rookie bombardment haha

ok i severely underestimated chessmon by god that looked awesome.... I might actually build this one in the upcoming set

This the oddest hypest digimon match i seen
Heh, was gonna rewatch alpha vs jesmon but this works
Aight post viewing, I enjoyed this match up a lot. Can’t wait for these decks to come out in EN
Is there anywhere to find the printed lists of these decks' contents?
Hooooh boy this eas one intense match and it truly is check and mate in the end.
Although I have a question, during Duftmon Leopard mode at 6:25 it had piercing, couldn't he just target the opponent digimon instead of attacking the security after the pierce attack? Or is the pierce only once per hit?
Opponent didn't have anymore suspended Digimon in play so only target Leopardmon had was the player
Piercing doesnt let you target unsuspended Digimon
I'll be honest, I kinda want to build Chessmon to have them alongside my Chess Buddyfight deck
Seeing these two big fields just fills me with glee
One X program would wipe the boards clean
wow so many digimon on board haha and that jijimon was unexpected
KingChessmon: Im-... Impossible! No mere beast could ever-... SHOULD ever...
Leopardmon(Duftmon): There is a reason I am the TACTICIAN of the Royal Knights...
KingChessmon: My soldiers... M-M-My Queen!!!
Leopardmon: Go ahead... Pick up your scepter, King... Pick. It. Up!
Holy patamon that was crazy 😮
Now that was a checkmate for Chessmon!
Guess they themselves got checkmated. Even QueenChess was suprised with the Chess's tactics by commenting "W-What is this tactic?" 😂😂
the useless king against the strategist beast
The Queen is really underrated. I hope she gets a more powerfuk text in the near future
rizegreymon package would be a better fit imo. helps get tamers out for free, deletes your opponent's digimon by decreasing their DP, and the digi burst effect will help fill trash faster.
Dumb question, but What app is being used to play the game?
chessmon popping off
If Leopard mode gets de-digievolved, for example by that security black chikurimon , and It had already used its main effect as leopardmon, can It now use it again? Or does the once per turn carry on through de-digievolve?
It can use it again
time to upgrade my chessmon

Y does jigimon evolve from black? Can someone explain
See the card, it has evo circles for both Green and Black
@@rustmarrow sorry I mean lore explanation, is it a reference to ShadowSeraphimon maybe
Disappointed but not surprised. Chess feels like a meme deck, but I look forward to playing it at meme tier alongside Mamemon and Leomon theme decks 😅
I've rewatched this video multiple times, and I can't see anyway Chessmon could've beaten Duftmon.
Epic game
Chessmon supremacy incoming.
What's the tabletop being used?
I import the cards myself, you wont find a workshop mod for it
man imagine if chessmon bring ruin mode and oblirate all rookie on leiopardmon field
if only chess have heavy removal card, level 7 or option
Leopardmon: King Lion Dai Senki
Leopardmon (Leopard Mode): King Lion Dai Henkei
LEOPARDMON SWEEP BABY! Nobody can beat the Green Beast!

i think final blow of chessmon will be produce "checkmate" spelling word 😅
