KingEtemon VS Garudamon!! | Digimon Card Game: BT-13 Round Table Conference (ROUND 7)

- This is Round 7 of the Round Table Conference, a tournament featuring 16 decks from the 13th main booster of the Digimon Card Game: VS Royal Knights. The next two decks to clash are KingEtemon and Garudamon. Both are old decks debuting in BT-11 that have received new support in BT-13. The Black/Yellow KingEtemon deck makes use of BT3 Etemon Blocker shenanigans (coupled with De-Digivolve and Security Attack minus functionality) to slow down the opponent while snowballing into swarms of Sukamon which can all become Blockers under KingEtemon's rule, outlasting the opponent to take them down with an all-out assault of monkeys and poop. On the other hand, the Red Garudamon deck is a refined version of Akiho's Phoenixmon deck with increased consistency and efficiency thanks to more sources of free Tamers and playing Bird Digimon with effects. The inherent aggro strategy of taking down the opponent by effect-swarming birds and giving them Rush remains the same. Both are balanced swarm decks featuring both offensive and defensive strategies - which side will outswarm the other!?

The Zhuqiaomon play was INSANELY spicy! I was not expecting it. The song, the sheer amount of deletion effects activating, the security attack +7, the fact that it actually turned the tables so magnificently and the cherry on top being the Biyomon evolving into Garudamon for the final attack... Just... Impressive.
Where do you find that song? I’ve only been able to find the high-level boss music from that game, not the Sovereign music.
IKR like nobody saw the freaking red flame bird god himself being here let alone be something Garudamon could pull an evolution out of nowhere
IMPORTANT: At 06:26, I accidentally played 5 Cost Birdramon for only 4 Cost. Fortunately, this doesn't affect the outcome as Garuda could have just played a different card but I apologise for the mistake!
2 TOURNAMENTS LATER, ONCE AGAIN MY DREAMS ARE DASHED. But ultimately, I am satisfied and without regrets. This was... an incredible match. Regarding my bird build, I don't know about you guys but while Mars synergises great and all, ever since BT11 Phoenix was revealed I've dreamed of building a pure bird deck around it and the new Kristy and Garuda have helped to make it somewhat feasible (excuse my 2 BT11 Tyrannomon). As for my KingEtemon build, I chose to focus more on the Ete side than the Suka side cos high rolling off BT3 Etemon's [On Delete] has always been the dream and with the debut of KingEtemon, it finally has enough decent targets to be worth it.
I'm also eagerly awaiting playing birds as pure as possible. Might borrow the Tyrannomon idea, though. You can always use the technicality that birds and dinosaurs are related!
Now that the deck has 2 ideal 3 Cost Tamers that you'll want to run 8 of, Tyranno is really too good to pass up... It's a great stopgap play if you brick and have no Lv3s in hand too
Birds are fun, I have some people at locals looking to convert it. On the flip side, a buddy of mine is doing the opposite, and he's building a pure raid deck with the new bt12 Gallantmon as another top end. Turns out a lot of the Gallantmon trial decks works well with the build!
That…that final turn was actually SUPER hype. I never even knew Zhuqiaomon was a thing, but DANG, with an effect like that, it completely tears decks like BloomLordHydra and (in this case) Etemon to shreds.

Also I liked how you stayed true to the Bird and Avian gang and not involving anyone from the Raid beasts. That 8 checks was absolute nuts, Zhuqiao really did a number on both fields while also giving themselves an advantage.

Loved this match.
Frankly, the bird deck, with all of its tamers feels like the crossover deck. As if the older kids are helping Christy and Biyomon prove themselves as tamers.
Etemon may have put up a fight but that Zhuqiaomon play was god tier.
Truly this is *PEAK* anime. Phenomenal job and great game.
As much as my heart yearned for the monkeys throwing poop deck to win, I cant deny how amazing this match was

That was one of the best matches by far. Love the bird deck and can't wait to play it.
This round was insane, I loved how they had to play off of each other's on delete effects, also I really like the new etemon and bird decks. I love the added support of king etemon, because it feels like an actual deck now and for bird it feels like it doesn't have to rely on marsmon every game.

i was expecting the zhuqiamon by a mile with all that spam, was so good to see it.
There is only one thing with the match... BT11 Phoenixmon's effect activates as soon as the card is removed, that is even before the security battle (but after a security effect if the card has one). It did not matter but still better to be clear about that kinda confusing effect.
What a sweet game, love these two heavy deletion decks duking it out. I'm sure neither deck is consistently as good as they look here, but still, the amount of protection and recursion for Team Monkey Poop is wild - but Zhuqiaomon really takes the cake. So good to see that find a home in a deck like this.
Also, I knew that Saberdramon was absurd the moment I saw it. Raid & Retaliation is an evil combo, but just so good!

Man, that was a dope match! I thought my boy Etemon was done for, then he came back. But then that Zhuqiaomon completely ruined it all! But it was so close!
I'm glad the birds have flocked together in a deck they can truelly call their own
And, with bt14 coming out in Japan, it just might get that.
Technically, Zhuqiaomon would've gotten one extra Security Attack during that final play, since PlatinumSukamon was also deleted. Zhuqiaomon's effect is not a once per turn, so it would trigger when PlatinumSukamon was sacrificed to save KingEtemon, and then again when Zhuqiaomon's nuke went off.
So that attack would have been nine checks rather than eight. This doesn't affect the outcome of the match _at all,_ but I just thought I'd mention it.

FUDGE, I wish metal etemon had more matches in the tournament, zhunqiamon is literally a natural counter to the deck, so unfortunate that had to be his opp. That's rough man... all the funny low tier decks are out already, I will watch anyway, but I really don't have anyone to cherish anymore.
This was absolutely awesome. I was hoping biymon would win! This fight took me back to the first digimon series. Was kinda hoping to see sora but I loved it.

Holy nuts. I've always wanted to play Zhuqiaomon, but couldn't ever figure it out. I'm glad that BIRD UP! exists, and is only gonna get better in bt13. Gotta go get me copies of the sovereign now.
A hype match between two previous competators. Sadly my pick didn't win, but it did get a match _almost_ as hype as it's last.
Only match for the first round is Belphemon vs MirageGaogamon BM. And, well, I hate to insult all the Data Squad decks in their own pack's tournament by rooting about another one, but I think my pick has a good chance in that match-up.
if only Crimson Blaze was drawn it would have ended this game for king etamon so much early.

It's an optional effect ("you may"). So Phoenix ignored it on the first check and activated it on the second

Might interject that platinum suka COULD choose one of the newly played digimon as a de digivolve target instead of the zuqiamon to prevent the phoenixmon play.
Not sure if it would've made a difference with the resource disparity though.

I've guessed 4 right on winners so far. The only ones I've missed were Ulforce, Exa, and Alpha. For the final match, while I love the Demon Lords, I really like miragegaogamon's play style.
Can't get put how he pronounces Zhuqiaomon. Bugs me.
I'm not a big fan of red decks, but I really love Zhuquiaomon being basically a nuke for the field and gains absurd amounts of security attack ahahah

Omg that zhuqiaomon literallu came outta nowhere sutch a clutch play. Nobody will ever know how happay this makes me bcos i love this deck to bits. It probably gonna lose to whoever its next. Also i realised u dont play kouen? I personally play it over merciful mode
Zhuqiao fulfills Kouen's role. With Mars out, Merciful Mode is for 1-shotting big targets while triggering Phoenix's effect for free at the start of the next turn

The fact that the -3000 and minus security attack from KingEtemon is only once per turn is the thing that makes this "Boss monster" is so bad...
I mean, it gives your entire board blocker _and_ immunity to bounce/spin effects, so it can blow certain matchups wide open.
@@Hyperneosonic97 The problem with that is You need to setup the other Sukamon/Etemon in order for It to matters. And most of the time, Your opponent can just destroy Your board before You finished setting It up, like shown on the video.
The only way You setup the board reasonably fast enough was the metaletemon. And It doesn't work well with Kingetemon, due to the fact that both are level 6.
Or sacrifice the Blocker Etemon and pray to god You hit one of the Level 6 Etemon.
