    New TOP SPEED 85.5Kmh: • New TOP SPEED 85.5Kmh ...
    This video is the best way to demonstrate how EXCITING and FAST you can get home ridding an Electric Road Bike in traffic (I always wear heavy motorcycle grade gear for protection).
    My extremely overpowered & modified BBS02 setup:
    Motor:
    •Bafang 8fun BBS02 750w 48v (1470watts at 58.8v)
    •Custom controller settings with maximum throttle enabled
    •52 tooth chainring (85.5km/h top speed)
    •155 RPM at 58.8v (factory settings 120 RPM maximum)
    Battery:
    •Homemade 14s 5p 58.8v 14.5Ah battery pack capacity
    •1,5 hours safe fast charge (6A 350w charger)
    •70x NCR18650PF Panasonic High Current cells bare pack for better cooling
    •No BMS for 100% charge & 100% performance!!
    •Range: +/-26km in the city / 36km continuous full throttle with few stops
    Throttle / Brake Sensor:
    •Left thumb throttle adapted to road bike handlebar (almost invisible)
    •Magnetic sensor for mechanical rear brakes
    Dashboard:
    •2x 15 watts LED headlights (two modes: normal or high bean)
    •Red LED Voltmeter for battery performance monitoring
    Bicycle:

I only do these things with perfect weather conditions, wearing heavy racing motorcycle protection and full face helmet only on roads I ride every day so I kinda know the traffic very well. I speed only to test the motor and handling performance.. all in name of science. It may look really wrong but best scientists and inventors were called crazy many times before their glory =]

    Thank you for your answer Bruno. I want to make an e-bike with Bafang BBS02B. If I ride it with 58.8v continuosly, it would give a fault consequence right? I think I will connect it 48v battery pack. Can I add appropriate battery pack on 48v battery pack (for example 1s5p on 13s5p pack) without open the 48v pack (connecting 1s5p on 48v pack discharge connector) when I want to more power? And which batteries and pack style (13s5p or others) do you recommend for fast charge and efficiency per price?

    If is full charge the battery . Can i use the power from the motor with this hack which i make, or the battery capacity will not allow me to grab this performance?
    Still not do the road test, shit weather and afternoon shift 😞.

      +Why Not ? - yeah... crazy getting over 80kmh with this little motor... instead of using a regular 48v battery I made another one that when is 100% charged is 58.8v so the motor spins faster... (the motor won't last long.. eventually you get many problems). My setup is completely described in this video description. I have many video tutorials talking about doing modifications, the benefits and downsides.. explaining how to do... you will have lots of fun watching.. haha =]

    How to calculate li-ion battery pack's maximum continuos charge current?

    • @BrunoPOWEEER
      @BrunoPOWEEER  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeahhhh this is often limited by how much the BMS can handle, cells usually can take more amps. Find out what cells you have inside your pack using this 18650 database secondlifestorage.com/celldatabase.php you can see all specs per each cell then you multiply by the number of cells in parallel you have.
      Let’s say your cell can do 2A max charge x5 cells in parallel = 10A max charge.
      Discharge this number will be higher, sometimes 2 or 3x

      Takis Vasilopoulos LunaCycle has a BBS02 kit with bigger mosfets. It goes to 1500w 25a. I have a 52v/14 ah Panasonic battery. Mine isn't as fast as this (I built it on a Santa Cruz super light MTN bike it was 26 lb. at start). I have yet to hack it though. Believe me when I say 40 mph on a mountain bike is terrifying and exhilarating. Do NOT use a cheap bike to do this! The wind tossed me around alot and when riding like this in traffic, was scary. Electric Bike was a total inspiration! It is about the best rush but can get extremely hairy in an instant!

      Yeaahh back when I made this video the BBSHD didn’t exist so I was overpowering the BBS02. I have a playlist just showing the BBSHD, they are both really quiet when you’re riding, can’t really hear, people often don’t see or hear anything. BBSHD is more powerful, bigger heavier and eats battery faster, it spins faster too, if you’re not so keen on performance and don’t want to spend too much money on a premium battery, better go with BBS02. It all depends what you intend to do =]

      It may sound heavy but the POWER and TORQUE you get from a good electric motor is so huge that in the end, 3 or 5kg difference won't make much difference

      @@BrunoPOWEEER I ordered the 52V but got the 48V (although it's 54.6V at full charge so close enough). I can get 42 mph out of it with full throttle + sprint pedaling and it's not a particularly aerodynamic bike. I wonder how fast I could get on a decent tall geared time trial bike or recumbent or those land speed faired bikes. I'm using a 52/12 as my top gear. With that ratio it's also good for cruising at lower cadences of like 70 in assist level 2 and reaching into the lower 20s mph if I want to eek out the battery over a long distance, adding leg power at an easily sustainable effort as my fat has more capacity than the battery currently. If it wears out I'll get a 48/11 as I'm having issues with chainstay contact and poor chainline. Right now the battery connections are a bit corroded due to damp in the winter and when washing it.

    • @BrunoPOWEEER
      @BrunoPOWEEER  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +protesialbanese
      Hi protesialbanese, the range is almost the same story as car range, so many variables to consider.. in the city you will use more power because there are lots of stops, I normally do 24km and still got some left, I am using a 14.5Ah battery pack that I made myself with high-drain Panasonic cells.. it depends on how fast you want to go, pedal assist or throttle only, riding against wind, riding up hill... how heavy you and bike are... my maximum range was 36km full throttle pushing hard 55km/h average (or faster) in an almost flat small town, not much wind or traffic, 14.5Ah may be the ideal size for most commuters, 10Ahyou have to leaving charging between trips and 20Ah will have a the best range but will be really heavy. Subscribe my channel I am preparing a series of video tutorials explaining everything you need to know about batteries and the difference between chemistries.

    Is this road legal ?!!! Fun project and I'm learning about my two Ebikes but I follow the law and that means unfortunately without a licence I am restricted to 250W ... although does make the bike lighter .

      +Seb K - Unfortunately it is not road legal... my next bike that I am building will be so fast that I will be getting it registered as motorcycle, I am checking all documentation already =]
      Do you have 2x eBikes? What technology hub or mid-drive motors?
      What do you mean by "without license you are restricted to 250w?" Can you ride above 250w if you have motorcycle license??? =0
      What country?

    • @SKBKER
      @SKBKER 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm in the UK and you need a full motorbike licence for anything more than 250W . It sucks to be honest and I do see the occasional DIY Ebike with a big motor and battery but in the city there are cops everywhere I wouldn't take the risk .
      My Ebikes have the Cute motors which are basically inline with Bafang . They are quiet but have a lot of torque (rear drive) . I do believe motors are listed as 250W but are actually more (I read this in several articles) . This is a way for manufacturers to cover themselves to allow them to ship them legally (as a full bike) . I get nearly 20mph from my motors but they go up hill (throttle only) at about 16mph which I know for a fact if they were actually 250W 100% then they wouldn't be able to do that .
      My electric mountain bike is my baby . I spent a lot of time (and money ) trying to lighten it up as much as I could . If you check my profile (Google+) you'll see what i do . I got it from 26kg down to 11 kg but it took a lot of work and basically had to strip the bike right down and remove a load of features of the ECU that I didn't need .

    I have discovered if you don't want pedal assist there is no need to tamper with the sensors. Set the speed limiter to the lowest value, set your pedal assist to 5/5 (or 9/9 how ever many levels you have set). Your pedal assist will unpower above that speed typically 10 kph. The motor will still spin but will only match your pedaling speed without applying additional force.
    The throttle will still work at whatever speed you like.
    Typically I like the pedal assist for long journeys as it means i don't have to keep my finger on a trigger. I typically use the speed limiter to prolong the range so i avoid the power hungry high wind resistance speeds with pedal assist that sometimes wants to keep pushing the bike faster (and might come in handy if i ever run into fussy ebike police that claim it's a moped, although the throttle isn't limited).
    The speed limit isn't constant for all assist levels. I was curious as to why i needed to limit as high as 45 kph so that assist level 3 would limit around 36 kph and this is in any gear not merely max motor speed.

    So I must ask, you often say that the 1000w is more powerful but when you are doing these top speeds you are always using the BBS02. Is it actually faster?

    • @BrunoPOWEEER
      @BrunoPOWEEER  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Heeey Mike.. the BBSHD is much faster and more powerful... these speeding videos are older when the BBS02 was the most powerful motor available, before Bafang released the BBSHD. In these fast videos I was riding a lightweight roadbike and I geared the motor for top speed. I did 85km/h... if I have the same gearing on the same bike on the same road I would do maybe 92km/h... I did speed twice without the gopro just for fun but at these speeds even wind can knock your bike.... its really windy here around the coast.. both times the wind almost knock me and I gave up the idea...
      If you want something fast, massive torque and heavy duty, BBSHD is the POWEEERR you need hehe =]

      How fast would the BBSHD with a 48v 9ah battery? my top speed with the battery on a BBS02 is 45km/h

    • @MrEasybizit
      @MrEasybizit 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @pearl jamz - I built mine about a month ago and despite some teething issues it is going great! Your question is dependent on a lot of variables including the type of bike you have, the gearing, and your battery type. I have a mountain bike with mountain bike tires, on a 20Ah, 48V battery capable of sustaining 30A continuous, default front chain ring that comes with the kit (I don't know the teeth on my bottom ring on the back), and I can achieve nearly 60kph on the flat on a good day. One of my work colleges has a BBS02 and side by side the BBSHD is notably more powerful. If you had a road bike and tires I'm quite certain that 60kph would be no problem. I hope this helps :)

    • @BrunoPOWEEER
      @BrunoPOWEEER  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thomas Stokes Great question... I saw a pedestrian that was potentially crossing without looking and anticipated myself hitting hard the brakes... not a big deal if you are ridding a MTB but road/racing bike frame weight distribution is so different (may be fantastic on flat) but horrible to stop when going down hill, feels like your body is all over the front wheel and the rear may lose grip under braking load... very scary on the first two week but I ended up learning to deal with this weight/braking load distribution issues...
      *I am making a really fast MTB and will be posting videos soon =]

    Hey this is awesome! So I have worked on motorcycles before and have gone through the process of registering a previously unregistered frame as a motorcycle here in canada, so I know the process for making a bike legal from scratch.
    This video has got me thinking, why not just do it!? I can put a plate on my bike and register it as a motorbike all I need is a 7" headlamp and turn signals!
    Can you run this motor directly to the rear without having cranks and pedal power? Im thinking of using a shimano hub drive internal gear transmission it would be an ultralight motorcycle made out of bicycle parts!

    • @BrunoPOWEEER
      @BrunoPOWEEER  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Vaughn J. Delgren - Yeahh... I am researching what I need to do here in Australia to get my next powerful eBike road legal... sounds like it will cost me a good $2000 lots of paperwork, frame must be designed and made by certified engineers and they will be doing a performance test including stopping power (breaking capacity) in meters and lots of blablabla... it may sounds like crazy money but I will be learning so much about the safety regulations so I think I will go ahead =]
      When you are a "bicycle" you have a lot of freedom (can ride basically anywhere) and zero road costs (tax/insurance) but there are so many roads, highways, tunnels that bicycles are not allowed =/ If it is a good decision or not will depend on the riding style and where you will be running it.
      If you don't want spining cranks you can weld a tube just to rest your feet but if you are not pedaling you better get the new model the BBSHD more powerful or even go with more powerful systems like www.lightningrodev.com or davincidrives.com/ both systems are really powerful with motorcycle performance. The Davinci is ultra light, tell Matt that Bruno recommended. =]

    • @logos24492
      @logos24492 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the reply Bruno! Yea bicycles have one sort of freedom and motorcycles another. Their are so many companies right now bringing thos technology to bicyclists that I just feel like its worth it to go after the motorcycle enthusiasts, because they arent going to buy anything with pedals. Bring the enjoyment and freedom to as many people if you will. Im going to give it a go ill let you know what I find!

    • @BrunoPOWEEER
      @BrunoPOWEEER  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I completely agree!! I tested some bikes that are so powerful and so light that I just don't understand why we don't see more motorcycles and powerful ebikes out there... they should make easier for people to register their eBikes... the government should encourage these people.. we are all little scientists experimenting something new... this is great... we are thinking outside the box and bringing solutions for traffic and economy!! This is great for the populations and the government will be saving millions $$

    Definitely looks like he's flying. But I'd like to see a gps speedometer reading people are making some really crazy speed claims these days. If you can do 50 miles an hour with a 750 watt motor. And I understand you can overvolt them,but let's just say you can do 50 miles an hour to 750 watt. There would be no need to sell a 1000 watt 1500 watt or 2500 Watt motor. So if I put a thousand watt mid-drive on my bicycle I should be able do 80mph. Ok

    • @dtiydr

      Long due so I assume you get it now that he is of course overvolting it so he will get more power from it to say double but it won't hold long with that much power since its not made for it, as he also say in a comment above.

      I only across double line to keep a safe distance between my bike and the car, any experienced motorcycle rider would do exactly the same. Overtaking is a matter of timing vs safe distance + risk of something going wrong so my head is always processing all that before I make the move or not make the move and stay behind the car, I don't ride like that every single day =]
