    I’m glad Kodak fixed the Ektachrome cartridge. Despite my problems with it jamming, the last roll looked great

    I’m pretty sure I have one of these somewhere still in box. They must have been giving them away when you opened a bank account. Kind of the holga of super 8. Love your videos. Keep it up!

    I expected worse from this.
    That lens is only so good, but a ND (even a polarized) would probably have helped.
    As far as registration, I think that it often depends on the roll more than camera, however, the less expensive ones did tend to create more jump and shake.
    In the end it really looks like an old home movie filmed after some Hurricane in the 1970's. I love the tone that the green grass takes on Ektachrome. I'll bet it looks even better projected live.
    THANKS AGAIN MIKE ! GREAT VIDEO !

      Thank you, Cecil!! You know, the more I watch it, the more it's kind of growing on me. Like you said, it really gives off an old (even 8mm-ish) home movie vibe. Might be good for a really abstract music video or dream sequence.

    Thanks for this video. Talk about a cheap camera! My old Kodak M10 puts this camera to shame, even Kodak film I took way back in the early seventies!

      Thank you, Craig! I forgot about those little plastic Kodak gems, lol. May have to do a battle of the cheapies :)

    Great video Mike! Interesting expeiment! Just got a Keystone K -612 Super 8mm, very bare bones of a camera, the celinoid eye works. Will be buying some film soon, Also, found picked up a Keystone K-8 (1935-36) Wind -up 8mm camera, everything works on that as well. Since I am new the buying of the film is the scary part! Thanks for sharing and dedication!

    Good experiment Mike, wonder when/ where this camera was made ? not bad, but as other comment, could have been done with ND filters at beach, plastic lens interesting, reminds me of plastic magnifiers you had in Xmas Crackers in 1970's. At the time here in UK many cheep things were made in Hong Kong, as kids we use to laugh but also at that time many people including us could not afford because of high inflation in mid 70's , but not bad image considering. try some Tri X, could use the tripod socket to mount a LED Lamp for indoors

      @Filmboy24  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, Lyndon! This camera was made in Taiwan, I believe in the mid 80s. I probably could have used an ND filter, though there’s really no way to attach it and not sure how another element would have convoluted the already poor, plastic lens results.

    Interesting... But probably those cameras are just useful only for experimental purposes like this 😂... Thanks Mike! This kind of tests make me love your channel: tons of enjoyable knowledge to really enjoy filming Super8 nowadays!

    Strange, but interesting, the plastic lens and what results it gave. You could use an ND perhaps, for bright outdoors, now that you've seen how it exposes. Could even add an anamorphic adapter and not worry about focusing twice haha

    • @Filmboy24
      @Filmboy24  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly, I'd never even thought about an ND filter, but that likely would've helped. Could have just duct taped it to the lens, lol.

  • @Cjeffersonjensen

    Honestly I expected this to look much better. I have a few videos on my youtube i captured in my Bentley and it looks quite a bit better, no artifacts in the footage, less fuzzy and I shot them on the 50D type film. Obviously my footage is still kinda crappy and the BX720 is kinda like a toy, all plastic, but I'm still shocked you didnt get anything better with your experience. Odd

  • @Pittsburghestatesale

    Looked better than expected. Yep the contrast was better in the lower light. How much post production work did you do ?

    • @Filmboy24
      @Filmboy24  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Honestly, I only adjusted the white balance & (white/black) levels a little, then added a touch of saturation. Not much at all.

    Manual aperture ring is maybe the best feature of the camera 🙂. Some of the closer shots were OK but I agree with you kinda not really worth burning film with this one.

    • @Filmboy24
      @Filmboy24  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, definitely the best feature, Dave. I guess I get what they were after with this camera, but a plastic lens…😂

    Usually use the 50d for mine. Love the home movie feel. As a beginner super 8 user I kind of get stumped often through trial and error and this is nice to use.
    Is the Start and end of the film counter the end of the film or a 1 minute maker?

    • @Filmboy24
      @Filmboy24  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, 50D!! My favorite film! The end of the film counter is the actual end of the film cartridge.
