I upgraded my R7, I swapped the GTX 1070 for an RTX 2070 Super, I also replaced the original 8GB Ram with 16gb Corsair Ram sticks(2x8) and it made a huge difference. It literally took me less than 5 minutes to replace the parts and there were no issues with compatibility at all, once the system registered the new parts and downloaded the necessary updates it was a whole new a faster computer.

Hey Bradley James, thanks for making this video. I'm thinking about upgrading my primary ssd (the one it came with). When yo9u swapped the optane to the samsung 970 did you have to install all the alienware drivers?
Thanks for the video. I just purchased a Aurora r7 last week 4-2020. I paid $700. It came with a i5 8400(bummer) but a GTX 1080. I just bought a 970 Evo m.2 NVMe drive. Depending on ebay and prices I'll keep looking for a i7. Or just ride this computer for a few years. It has some potential anyways.
I know this must be a stupid question! But what do you do with the adapter after you get the SSD installed? Do you take the SSD out of the adapter and then physically install the SSD in the slot in the computer? Or does the SSD have to remain inside that adapter?

My son's R7 came with a 2TB hard drive. He wants to replace the 128GB SSD, though. I can't stand how Dell configured this. I have External Drives WD, what can I do? Can I use External Drives as a main boot of the PC? Tell me what do you think.
You should be able to do a fresh install of Windows, the BIOS on the Mother board stores the Key so Windows will just read that during the install and it should'nt bug you about it. I have done the same thing with a Thinkpad Laptop in the past and it worked just fine.

It just sucks because if i just waited a little bit id have a sick glass case and brand name rgb parts for the same price. Ugh rant over.
Question, When you removed the intel octane and added the 970 evo did you have to do a windows recovery to set up that new nvme? or The original harddrive have all your files and windows setup on it? I would also like to do this but i dont wanna lose all my stuff or have to do a whole new windows install. Any advice with the process of installing the new nvme?
I disabled the Intel Drive, then cloned the Spinning HD to the new Samsung using an M.2 USB adapter. Then pop in the newly cloned m.2 where the intel drive was, disconnect the HD, and bam. NO windows install or loss of info. I used Macrium to clone, it's free.

First option. The adapter is only needed to clone the hard drive. Then the SSD replaces your hard drive.
