You win! Over the last 5 years, I’ve tried to wash my hair without sections a few times and it’s a complete mess. It takes me 3-5 business days to wash and style my hair. I’m lazy and I get overwhelmed. I’ve stopped detangling at every step, but I have to get my hair in reasonably detangled sections before I wash. I got my first wash and (go) curl done by Natasha and will have to wash that out with my hair open, so wish me luck!
If I plow straight threw, it takes me about 2 hours to complete my wash day, but I recently started treating wash day as my chill/pamper myself day. I actually take a break after applying my conditioner and fix myself a beverage. Sometimes I fix myself a snack after I apply my deep conditioner. On those days I don’t really Time it. I just go with the flow. Now if I do a midweek wash, I can do that in less than an hour.
Same, I treat wash days like a spa day and I eat while deep conditioning or I watch TV or do other things. I don't bother timing it cause I take my time
Same mindset with me. I enjoy wash days and see them as a pamper/self-care time. But midweek yeah I just use my Oyin Gingermint Cowash and call it a day.
I’m the same way. When I’m trying to be done, 2 hours is all can give. On lazy days, I’ll either do an overnight pre-poo or deep condition. Then it drops to an hour and a half the next day.
Can I just say, I love 4C hair. I love watching people with 4C hair wash days the most. How versatile, and incredibly soft it looks, lush and just lux all at the same time
1 hour is my limit to cleanse, deep condition & rinse. Styling time varies depending on my laziness or if I have a specific look I’m going for but lately I’ve been doing mini twists
It takes me one hour and 20 minutes ! I could decrease this time if i shortened my deep condition time! 😉 I am so proud of myself !! It used to take me 5 hours before I learned from YOU!!! Thank you sooo much!! 🙏🙏🙏
Mine takes entirely too long. It takes me 3-4 hrs if I don't deep condition. However I've recently started deep conditioning again so now it's 4-5 hrs😅. My hair is dense, thick and long. I just get tired and as a result I move slowly.
The good ole tangle teezer brush is life. It has changed my detangling routine. Your wash day routine is so simple and your hair is growing out beautifully!!!
This video was very relaxing😌 and I’m so jealous that you can do it under a hour. 😮 I love to prepoo because after I wash and condition trying to detangle at the styling step I be so over it. My wash day is about 3 hours if I don’t prepoo the night before. Only because once I put in my dc it’s staying in there for awhile because I don’t be feeling like getting back in the shower to rinse it out.
i do my hair the exact same way but my low porosity hair needs the deep conditioning step. i got some good tips though. i love how you do not detangle at every step. its a really good for length retention.
great video 🤗 i usually get distracted, but if i go straight through from pre-poo to takedown/style, i would say 4hrs max (that's with 30-60min DC and 1-2hrs under the dryer to set my style). however, to follow your same steps, i would say 30-45min - which is a great timesaver to get a good wash day done. tfs 😊👍🏼😊
How did you know?!?! I just washed my hair 😂😂. Lol I have type 4 hair and it doesn’t take me as long to do my entire wash day anymore (about 2 hrs now) but this video should help me get it down even more so thanks Lexi 😊.
It takes me 3 days. I pre-poo on Thursday, then do an ayurvedic treatment and deep condition on Friday and Style on Saturday I enjoy wash day, it's my time to pamper my hair.
I love this video. This was great example that type 4 hair can/is manageable with time and patience. I have 4C medium length hair and my wash day is normally all day process. But I have wash and styled my hair in under hour before. It can be done. Only reason it may take me longer is when I deep condition before I wash. I keep twist in my hair before shampooing which makes it so I don’t have to detangle multiple times within my wash day. Keep it simple and natural hair can be relaxing and therapeutic. Just like this video 💕
Hey Lady, That demo wash day routine was so inspirational. I have 4C hair and it is a wash day nightmare. It takes me 3 hours including a long deep conditioning period under a heat cap. Thanks for the tip I will try it and hit you back. Peace and blessings
Yaaaaaaas girl! I too have got my wash day down - I really did use to spend hours and hours doing wash day. Not anymore, I've got my time down, but not less than a hour yet. I'm going to dry detangle after conditioning like you. I think this will help me reduced my time 😀 thanks for the inspiration 🎉🎉
@@KandidKinks Soooooooooooooo!! I got down to one hour and 15mins! And That's including using Aphogee two step treatment in the middle and finger detangling. I am pretty sure it'll be under hour without the extra treatment. Thanks girlie, you saved me so much time xx
woooo girl, today is wash day and i'm currently on my deep condition step! AND I pre-poo'd soooo once i rinse this deep conditioner out, i'd say it's about a 3-4 hour process! Sometimes i can get in and out for 2 - 3 hours if i don't pre poo.
I think 2-4 hrs is a good time frame for type 4 hair. I think what takes up most of our time is detangling and deep conditioning. Deep conditioning doesn't take much work but it is a time eater. Then most of us procrastinate cause we don't want to jump back in the shower to rinse out the dc 😂😂😂
Tried this method my wash day lasted for two hours forty minutes My very first time not doing sections I did the whole thing shampoo deep condition detangle moisturise and styled with some twists I'm in awe It would take 2 hours just wash all my sections Looking back how did I stand in the steam for that long lol Love this!!!!!
It takes me 1-3hours to wash my hair on wash day depending if I do a leave-in treatment which I will do for (30mins-1hour). I love wash day because all the other days I avoid getting my hair wet in the shower. And it feels really good when that water hits your scalp.
It takes me 3 hours on a good day 😂 My hair is shorter, like neck length, and fine, but I finger detangle, wash in sections, deep condition, and twist. Since I try to leave my hair alone and only detangle weekly, the shed hair is so much after two weeks on wash day. And the longer it gets, the more tangles and single strand knots...Ughhh, but I want long hair
I remember when I started taking care of my natural hair. I used to do all that sectioning and detangle at every step. Then I realized that it was not doing anything for me so I now do like she does in the video and only detangle before styling. The only caveat is that I MUST wash my hair once a week in order for me to be able to detangle it just once. If I leave it untouched longer than that then I have tangles galore. Maybe try increasing the frequency of your wash days. I think you might find that that is the culprit 😉 Signed, 11 years natural
Unnecessary detangling eats up your length. Also stretching or straightening your hair will stop those single strand knots. I never let my hair dry after washing it without styling it in a stretched style like a twist out or straightening my hair or else I’m just asking for knots, tangles, and breakage. The girl in the video has the right idea.
Completed a one hour wash day last night and it was amazing! I have thick 4b/4c hair and thought I needed sections to wash but I really don't. Detangling before and twisting after each step takes so much time. This long process made me stretch out wash days because i didn't want to fight my hair. I no longer have to worry about that!
I currently twists after each step and it’s so exhausting. What are you doing to reduce your time spent on washdays and how’s it working? I’m scared that if I stop twisting after each step, my hair will get tangled!
@@lukadasilva7050 I've stopped prepooing and detanglinf before I shampoo. If my style was in a bun, I just take my hair out and go straight to saturating my hair with water and shampooing. Then, I separate in 4/6 sections, put conditioner in all of sections, let it sit for about 5 mins while I wash my body, then finger detangle lightly and then go in with my brush To fully detangle. I'm literally in the shower for a half hour, 40 min max. And then I go to style. I've learned from stylists that deep conditioning was never meant to be a weekly process so I deep condition every couple of months honestly and only for the time on the bottle. Our jar does not need to be deep conditioned for hours or over night
That’s why I appreciate you. I keep my hair in twists when I’m down your way. I might take it down that one night I kick it with friends but that’s usually the night before we head back home
Excited about this video. I have type 3c hair and it only takes me a half hr to wash my natural hair 1-2 min for shampoo and the rest of the time having my deep conditioner sit for a half hr. I’ll have to show this to my friends w type 4 hair so they can wash their hair in under an hr. It always takes like hrs for them to wash their hair
I'm truly a lazy natural, I usually wash every 3wks, but it takes all day from Pre-poo, to shampoo, tea treatment, deep conditioner or protein treatment, to style which is usually twist. I just treat it as a Spa day and binge on TH-cam or Netflix. Your hair is always so full and flourishing!
We here!!!!!! Now sis I’m all for this!!!!! Although I do love to prepoo and do a full deep conditioning session, this is definitely my fall/ winter routine!
My wash day is 5-6 hours. I keep my hair in sections so it can stay stretched 🙌🏽 - I pre-poo - Shampoo - Deep condition w/heat - Style (usually wash n go)
Janiya Gowdy that’s good. I’m sure you have a different hair texture than mine. And I always get the results I want so I don’t mind how long it takes me 🙃
I’m just mesmerized at u washing your hair without sections. I been tryna do that ever since you made a video about it but my hair just ain’t here for it 😂
Loved this! I love seeing how other people do their hair and under an hour sounds amazing!! I'm personally a pre-poo/shower my hair in sections kinda gal but I'm open to trying it out this way.
I dare not try to wash my hair if it’s not in sections 😬 (I’m jealous 😂). I used to be able to skip sectioning my hair when it was shorter. But it’s dense, and the longer it gets the more tangled it seems to get 😔
I love how simple and fast this is. Washing and conditioning in sections really does stress me out but my hair is so thick and dense it just makes sense to do it that way 😬 honestly can't stand my hair hense why I've been protective styling for months on end and my edges have encountered a set back from my last style that was wayyy too tight :(
yeah my hair is really thick too i just started washing my hair in two or three parts (front/back and sometimes middle) and then put them in 8 or 20 braids and it works great! just have to make sure to have a good tool and good products. i don’t deep condition too
My wash day is about the same. But I don't always use oil and I use gel instead of a cream. The only time it takes me more than an hour is if I do mini twist or finger coils.
I really need to time it because I am usually doing housework and cooking sometimes in between shampooing, conditioning/deep conditioning/detangling and styling. I usually deep condition for an hour though. That much I am sure of. Maybe 2 and a half to 3 hours in total. On another note, I can't wait to get to your hair length. I big chopped a year and four months ago and my hair is in the 8 to 9 inch range at this point. Your hair is just beautiful. Excellent video as always.
It takes me 2 and a half hours to do my wash day. That’s shampooing, black tea rinse, deep condition, moisturizing and styling (i usually style with two strand twists which are 20-30 twists in my hair)
I need 2 days. I take my time to prepoo/detangle thoroughly 2-3hrs I go very slow to minimize breakage as I have fine strands. Otherwise it gets matted with huge knots so I cant detangle without cutting my hair. Shampoo & Conditioning doesnt take me long (30mins & 1hr deep conditioning) it's just the styling afterwards which is 5+ hrs. 😫🤷🏾♀️
I would say my entire wash day takes me about 2 hours. I co-wash/detangle, deep condition, then apply my leave in and gel (wash n go). But to help the time fly by i got a JBL speaker and i blast music or watch a tv show😁 I would consider my hair to be 4A with a sprinkle of 3C.
Great video! It took me two hours on My last wash day and that was a record. I think I will work on condensing the time. I’m enjoying washing my hair more often. Thanks.
My wash day is allllll day and into the night if I blow out with the Revair. It's too long! My hair webs and tangles and is just so dang fragile. I need an hour wash day in my life.
It takes me just under an hour to shampoo my sectioned hair and add the deep conditioner while detangling. I thought this was gonna have deep conditioning and that you were gonna twist after. But yeah defs doable that routine you did
I'm nervous to wash without sections, but detangling in the beginning and untwisting and retwisting throughout the process gets tiring. I'm gonna try it next wash day and see how it goes!
Yo does this actually work !!! I’m looking for a solution, it literally takes me 10 hours and my hair isn’t even as long as yours. I detangle before washing, during washing and after washing and I think that’s the reason. Also twisting it up at every single step too, it leaves me so exhausted and I’m sick of it. Imma try your method this washday and hopefully I can at least get under 3 hours!
It’s a personal preference for me to seal in the water and conditioning treatment. I always say try it both ways and see how your hair feels. I used to apply oil after I finished twisting/braiding and I didn’t notice much of a difference in the way my hair felt throughout the week
@@KandidKinks Ok thanks for the info! I've never tried it earlier in my routine. I'll have to give it shot! I'm still trying to figure things out but it's been fun learning.
You are the devil in a blue dress leading me down a path where I give up my DIYs, prepoos, and DCs. Just kidding. I'm gonna still do me. But if I'm ever away from home, I know I can complete a basic routine in under an hour.
i wash my hair every 3 weeks (just what works for me 🤷🏿♀️) so I like taking it slow with my wash day routine. also i use a shampoo brush and that alone keeps me in the shower forever cause it feels amazing!! lol
@Janiya Gowdy since i started using sulfate shampoo again (garnier damage repair) and the shampoo brush on my scalp, i find that even after.3 weeks there's not much buildup! when i used non-sulfate shampoo, i got buildup after 2 weeks and had an itchy scalp by then
Hey lexi, do you ever deep condition for 30+ mins? If so, do you think it made a difference in comparison to deep conditioning for 5-10mins? your response is greatly appreciated. thank you!
If my hair is very dry and tangled I’ll do a 30 minute deep condition. I’ll put a plastic cap on and let it sit for 30 minutes. I don’t do more than that because a stylist at a hair show told me that’s all that’s really needed. I would try both ways and see if you notice a difference
It takes me only an hour as well ( I like to be in and out). 1.5 hours if I'm deep conditioning. How many times do you shampoo your hair? I have to do it at least twice (though I wash my hair every two weeks). Thanks for the tips. I will try detangling before styling.

But it’s dense, and the longer it gets the more tangled it seems to get 😔
Your skin is poppin'😍😍😍
This was so soothing to watch and the background music went perfectly
:)
Thank you so much
the length and the thickness of your hair 🥰❤️
Thank you for posting this video Lexi. I’ve been following this type of routine for all of quarantine and I’ve retained all of my monthly growth 😁.
Yes yes yes!! I love to hear it 😭😭😭
It takes me 2 and a half hours to do my wash day. That’s shampooing, black tea rinse, deep condition, moisturizing and styling (i usually style with two strand twists which are 20-30 twists in my hair)
That’s not bad.. if I’m doing small twists or braids that’s about the time it takes for me as well
I need 2 days. 😫🤷🏾♀️
I love how you filmed this in real time! I think ima try your technique to see if it works for me!
Let me know how you like it!
Love how long your braids are!!!❤️❤️Hair Goals!!
Im on a loc journey, but your hair is fab, can I say your teeth are ace!!, watched your Invisalign videos, i have a consultation next week!!
Come through length ✨💕💕
When you said "thick, kinky and high porosity hair" I related so much
I just had to subscribe ♥️
Gonna try this!
🤣 it worked once, got down to like 2 1/2 hours. Was never able to replicate the experience 🤣 back to wash day
Your hair is freaking growing !!!!❤️
I would say my entire wash day takes me about 2 hours. I co-wash/detangle, deep condition, then apply my leave in and gel (wash n go). But to help the time fly by i got a JBL speaker and i blast music or watch a tv show😁 I would consider my hair to be 4A with a sprinkle of 3C.
Music is definitely a key to getting through wash day lol it’s a whole concert in the bathroom 😂
Great video! It took me two hours on My last wash day and that was a record. I think I will work on condensing the time. I’m enjoying washing my hair more often. Thanks.
2-3 hrs because I deep condition and style.
But yeah defs doable that routine you did
Subbed because you are high porosity as well.
Siiiiissss!!!! Well I be darn!! You did that!!!! Lol!!! You made it look so freakin easy, I swear!!! 😂😂😂
Your hair has more bounce than a beachball!
Lmaooo thank you
I'm nervous to wash without sections, but detangling in the beginning and untwisting and retwisting throughout the process gets tiring. I'm gonna try it next wash day and see how it goes!
Let me know 💛
Your hair looks really healthy, love your hair anyways ✨
Thank you!
Just subscribed today, thanks to a natural hair fb group
I wish I could do this 😩.....I need to deep condition with heat thats a must for me...I CAN NOT SKIP THAT STEP
Hey Lexi💕do you still use aloe Vera juice to seal your cuticles??
I don’t because I’m lazy but it’s definitely a step I recommend
KandidKinks ok thanks for replying back. I will definitely add this to my hair routine again like I did in the very beginning of my hair journey😃
The way my hair tangles I could never do this 😢 I HAVE to wash in twists cuz I'll cry to detangle it
Same here 😭 but I think my problem is conditioning and trimming so I’m doing more deep conditioner
& ur brows look good 😩
Thank you! I got them threaded just for this video lmao it had been over 5 months 😩
Thank you for this great video! Can you please share the products that you used in this video ?
Just updated the description box 🖤
@@KandidKinks Thank you 😊
I'm a new natural and still learning. Can I ask why you use oil before the leave in and curl cream? The oil doesn't seal out that additional moisture?
Less than an hour? This looks like sorcery! 😱😱 Scared to try it on my thick 4c hair. 😮
i wash my hair every 3 weeks (just what works for me 🤷🏿♀️) so I like taking it slow with my wash day routine. also i use a shampoo brush and that alone keeps me in the shower forever cause it feels amazing!! lol
@Janiya Gowdy since i started using sulfate shampoo again (garnier damage repair) and the shampoo brush on my scalp, i find that even after.3 weeks there's not much buildup! when i used non-sulfate shampoo, i got buildup after 2 weeks and had an itchy scalp by then
Wash day my favorite!!!
Your hair is so beautiful. How long have you been natural?
About 9 years
It takes me only an hour as well ( I like to be in and out). 1.5 hours if I'm deep conditioning. How many times do you shampoo your hair? I have to do it at least twice (though I wash my hair every two weeks). Thanks for the tips. I will try detangling before styling.
I just shampoo one time and I wash weekly
It takes me about 2 hours because I deep condition for about an hour. It would definitely be less if I didn’t deep condition
Under an hour wash day, I love it 💚😍😘
Do you have a amazon store link? I would love to see your favorites.
The amazon link is in the bottom of the description box. But I don’t have any hair products in there. Search “Kandidkinks favorites” on TH-cam and a bunch of videos (new & old) should come up 🖤
But how does your hair not tangle? what is the spell or prayer you used? - I need the exact wording please!!
Great video!
It takes me 3 hours for my wash day.
Looks a lot like my wash day, it makes it a lot easier for styling🙂
OH Wow! I didnt know you were high porosity #subscribingnow #mydaughterishighporosity her hair is 3c/4a though hopefully I can get some good tips and tricks from you 🤗🤗
It took me about 8 hours for my full wash day to be completed.
I love watching 4c hair wash day videos because the hair porn is real
What brush did you use in the video ?
It’s one of the tangle teezers, I just updated the link in the description
KandidKinks thank you so much!!!
i wish i could do this but i literally have to deep condition my hair for an hour alone..
