  • WAYNE Dual Sump Pump Install - Dry Basement Forever! I'll also be installing a battery backup system (Wayne WSS30VN Combination Sump Pump). A flooded basement is not fun. It's better to prevent flood damage than to repair flood damage. So, before your basement fills with water, do everything you can to prevent the flooding before it happens Buying and upgraded sump pump with backup pump and battery backup system, is cheap insurance.
    In this video I'm installing the Wayne WSS30VN combination sump pump system. This sump pump includes a ½ horsepower main pump with a backup pump and battery backup. I'll give you some background about sump pumps, how sump pumps can fail and the specifications on this sump pump kit. Then I'll show you how to install a sump pump and a sump pump discharge extension.

    I see you having issues if power is out for an extended time. Get yourself a small generator to run the 120v pump just in case

    • @HowIDoThingsDIY
      @HowIDoThingsDIY  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yup. This doesn't solve a long term power outage. However, I've only heard my sump pump run 4 times in 5 years. So this still feels pretty safe, but it is still technical possible to have issues. Thanks for the comment.

    I used to have a two stage sump pump and glad I did cause big storm came by 1 week after installing. The cover on your sump pump, do you have a radon issue?

    • @HowIDoThingsDIY
      @HowIDoThingsDIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have a radon issue, but the builder installs radon reduction systems standard in this area. Wisconsin thing maybe. My last Wisconsin house was boarderline.

    How did you fit the battery connectors on that battery? The Wayne connectors are M6 and you mention that the battery is M8. Thanks!

      I'm sorry I didn't mention that. I just went to the hardware store and bought wing nuts to match the battery terminals.

      Honestly, I don't remember the model number, but I if you search online or go to a batteries plus store, you should be able to find one with the specs I mentioned in my video. Thanks for the comment.

    What are your long term thoughts about this system. My ion system has failed for the second time in 6 years. Time for a new brand.

      Pretty good. But I'm sure I'll need to replace the battery every few years. But the pumps seem very high quality. What failed on your system.

    As soon as I connect the battery to the box, it blows the fuse. I've gone through a dozen fuses. I checked the battery and it's a normal 12.6V. Any ideas? There's a tropical storm coming in a few hours 🫤

      You have to have a short or something connected wrong. Have you reached out to the manufacturer? I'm sorry I can't be more helpful. It's very hard to diagnose a problem like this without being there.

    Bought this pump and installed it with a new battery. After a year the power failure red light came on, alarm sounds nonstop and the backup pump doesn't work. Any ideas?

    • @HowIDoThingsDIY
      @HowIDoThingsDIY  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Maybe it wasn't charging properly? I'd contact the manufacturer. I haven't had any issues. Try charging the battery and hooking it back up.

    I just installed the system and hooked up the battery. When I tested the backup pump, I unplugged the main pump and waited for the backup pump's floater to rise. When the water got high enough, I heard a noise from what I assume is the other pump, but the water did not drain. Any idea what might be wrong?

    • @HowIDoThingsDIY
      @HowIDoThingsDIY  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I wish I could help but its tough to troubleshoot this way. You might want to call tech support through the manufacturer. Please come back and update us once you figure out the issue.

    Bought this one a year ago but didn't install it until today. The big and immediately problem is that the main pump just keeps running when float already reached the bottom. I even manually push the float level all the way up and down but the main pump just won't stop until unplugging the power. Don't know what to do now. The secondary pump works well.

    The inverter keeps failing and overcharging the battery. The pumps and floats are fantastic but the inverter system just keeps failing and it’s a very expensive system to fail like that. Trying to find something a little more reliable. Reliability is because my sump pump runs about every five minutes every single day of the year. I must live on some sort of high water table.

    • @HowIDoThingsDIY
      @HowIDoThingsDIY  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How do you know when it fails? I have heard that is a common issue with these types of systems. There has to be a better, maybe more expensive, solution to upgrade that part of the system.

    • @nathanchapel5950
      @nathanchapel5950 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@HowIDoThingsDIY also because of my high water table I need not only my primary but my secondary pump to be able to pump at least 2500 gallons at 10 feet even on battery because I do lose power several times throughout the year. My last option is I’m thinking about skipping the whole inverter system and battery back up system and just putting in a whole house generator but that’s going to cost me around 10 to 15,000. But I have had my basement flood four different times so maybe that’s what I need to do.

    • @HowIDoThingsDIY
      @HowIDoThingsDIY  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nathanchapel5950 Wow!!! That sounds pretty serious. Mine only runs like 2 times a year. Is there an issue with the grading of your home or is it just water that's already in the ground? That's crazy.

      @@HowIDoThingsDIY have never been able to figure it out. I am actually thinking about getting a civil engineer out to help me figure it out. I think it’s an underground spring. Because it could not rain for a month or so and it still kicks on every five minutes. It’s literally never not ran and I’ve lived in this house for 11 years
