I'm playing this game right now, but whenever I see a Dragon Age Veilguard related video on TH-cam, it has a lot of negative comments. A lot of them saying how bad this game is even though this game does look good to play.

Honestly I think early game was a little rough. They took the opposite approach from inquisition and they just hit you with so much shit and exposition that it never really slowed down lmao. Still though after those first hours and I got most of the companions the game really picked up and now I genuinely love it. If dragon age didn’t have a dumb ass community, and was released in a different time where there was no culture war this game would have won game of the year.

I need it to be known your the reason I bought this game. I wanted to watch someone who actually enjoyed the serise play it. Also if I could for myself tell if the game play seem like it was up my alley. Turns out it was and im glad for the live stream!
The difference in communities with Dragon Age and Mass Effect is massive. Mass Effect’s original trilogy is beloved by most fans even though the third one had a bad ending everything else is still good in that game narrative wise. Dragon Age on the other hand it seems like no one can agree on anything. Sometimes it feels like origins is the only one they actually liked and can you really claim to be a fan of the franchise when you hate the majority of it? I think 2 and Inquisition both had their merits. I find 2 to be stronger narratively than Inquisition and had more actual choices with Consequences,but 3 just felt grander and more fleshed out. Wasn’t a huge fan of the open world or the combat but the characters definitely made that game. The DLC’s from Inquisition are so good that they almost dwarf the original game.

I thought the writing was bad there, personally. I'm trying to keep an open mind regarding the game, and am generally liking it, but the pacing of how and when this information is revealed is not good. The whole thing was very heavy handed. Compare that scene vs talking to Cassandra about her brother in DAI.
I really, really, really, REALLY don't like this game for a multitude of reasons. But I'm not so bitter that I'd give people a hard time for enjoying it if they are genuinely enjoying it. I hope you continue to enjoy your playthrough :)

The game kicks things off so fast, it's really fucking good. There's no slogging through the Hinterlands here.
I'm loving the return to the more "focused" maps from Origins and 2. Not really sure what the technical term is? Level based design I guess?
During the marketing, they used the words "handcrafted" and "curated" a lot, which I think is a pretty good way to describe it.
