  • Candied nuts are a great way to elevate salads, veggies or meats. Great for a charcuterie board or just snacking. So addictive!
    Raw nuts, any variety
For every cup of nuts you will need:
1/4 c. sugar (white, brown, honey or maple syrup)
    1 T. butter
    1 - 2 t. water (more water will make a glaze)
    Spices and vanilla to taste
    I used:
    1 lb. raw pecans
    4 T. butter
1 c. lightly packed light brown sugar
    1 t. cinnamon
    1/8 t. cayenne pepper
    1 1/2 T. water
    1/2 t. sea salt
    1 t. vanilla
    Enjoy!

Just found you because I was given bags and bags of walnuts over the past few weeks and trying to find ways to use them. I’ve seen many videos of candied nuts but this was the video I needed. Very detailed and well demonstrated and explained. Thank you. Subscribed and can’t wait to go through your other videos.

I made brown sugar today and tomorrow I'll be making Candied Pecans. Of course, I've been known to wake up about 2 a.m. and start canning. Thank you Carol. These look wonderful.

This video just popped up in my feed! I see that it’s about 3 years old but I have to say, the shirt you are wearing in this is GORGEOUS & looked so lovely on you.
Thank you for this video it was awesome. I’m going to be making candied nuts with my daughter this weekend. We’ll be making a few different nuts/flavors. I’m most excited about making one w/ pistachio & cashews, cardamom, cinnamon, a little bit of both ginger & nutmeg (Chai-like). I can’t decide if should use sugar or honey. I’ve only ever made candied nuts with sugars (white, light & dark) It’s never crossed my mind to use anything other than the sugar trio but wow-the flavor flood gates are open & the possibilities are endless.

I had a friend that used to make these using a sugar substitute. Except for the after taste they were good. I just bought a big bag of pecan so I think I’ll make some to add to Christmas boxes (or else I’ll eat all of them!)

Serving size is 2 !! 🤣 Your channel is growing pretty fast young lady. Maybe we should start a canning channel for PBS with people from all regions of the world showing how they can or preserve their own foods 👍 and you can be the host. That’s thinking rather big isn’t it 😉

My Mom & Grandma would make these every year at Christmas, but they both recently passed away and I couldn’t find the recipe in any of their cookbooks or recipe boxes. I’m super excited to try this! 😍

Love this! I have 9 pecan trees and a ton of pecans to use. Thinking bourbon or spiced rum instead of water might be good, would that work?

These look awesome and would be a nice treat for my mom! do you store these in a mason jar or what would be a good way to store them?

I normally cook my pecans in butter then salt them.
I guess I'll have to try to candy the pecans. Got to make some Party Mix first.

Help....my son in law is diabetic and loves your canned sweet potatoes. Can I use splenda in place of sugar in the syrup? Thanks so much!

    • @carol-thriftychichousewife6231
      @carol-thriftychichousewife6231  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Good morning! Yes, any sugar substitute that is measured cup for cup in place of sugar is safe for canning. You can also can them in water. You do not have to use syrup 😊

Investigate Splenda before using. Also check out monk fruit.
