This is the first time I have heard a doctor (or fitness professional) point out that bones are made of protein. They all know it (I had the same classes and it was obvious to me) but they all get distracted by the calcium. GPs are quick to throw calcium tablets at a patient but nobody mentions 'medicating' with good quality protein.

I just bought a standing rib eye roast for Christmas and fully intend to use the fat to make a delicious gravy to go with it. They told us butter was bad for us for 60 years and wanted you to eat homogenized motor oil instead. I eat the things humans have been eating forever. Stay away from processed foods!

How much protein should a growing child eat?

You are in a unique position to observe first hand the effects of low carb high fat (and corresponding protein) diet. Children are more sensitive to hormonal levels and will likely stop eating when full of meat since it loses its flavor at that point (it will taste bland like cardboard). Since their growth plates are still forming, I suspect your biggest problem will be keeping up with proper fitting clothing. You should see a relaxed demeanor as well (the parental holy grail) and higher concentration. Personally I haven’t eaten any plants since Feb ‘24 and found the change significant. Best to you and merry Christmas

As much as their appetite allows them.

I do best on a carnivore diet. When I try to add in just a few carbs in veggies or dairy I go off the rails and begin binging after 3-4 days. Every single time. My brain dopamine receptors must be dysfunctional. Grrr

That’s a metabolic response to eat more by stimulating the hormone grelhin and suppressing leptin. Think bear preparing for winter. Bears are very ravenous in autumn when they eat berries and fruits. In my case I experienced flu like symptoms which has been a major deterrent

    What about Mtor ?

Look up Ben Bikman. He explains that while protein does activate Mtor, the effects of insulin are much greater. Cut the carbs, not the protein. Adequate protein is essential for health and longevity.

@@VeganV5912 sweet potatoes have the highest oxalate percentage, which is definitely not good as since it accumulates in all the soft tissues, including the brain.
