Random P-Groove tidbit: A successful parry gives your next attack extra frame advantage. So, in situations where you parry up close, you're able to do certain links that are otherwise not normally possible.
But the parry pause isn’t the same as 3S, meaning your opponent can block or react as well as your not guaranteed a lot, if anything. Low attack timing is much harder than it needs to be and unless they major whiff or you have a total invincible startup move (like Vice’s 214+P) this groove is borderline worthless. EO isn’t even considered so this is not a point.
@@Ramsey276one So the reason for this is that when you parry a character there is a number of frames of frame stop for the parry animation. When you parry a projectile, only you are affected by the frame stop, the opponent is not. I actually go over this in my mechanics break down video. th-cam.com/video/TV_oneZutLs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LDPr-MiIbFNfFAET&t=226
I think this is the most ‘Desk’ video in a while, and it’s not that the others were lacking XD Checks description for explanation; ‘I now know how to parry every super in the game’, also with stylish/funny punishes lol
Would love to see Desk take on more SNK fighters, especially Garou to see what kind of sauce he cooks up with just defends, the way counter hits work, and the usual choreographed shenanigans.
I was huge into the FGC around this time, imo the golden age of fighting games. Nobody really ever used P groove, but man was I a huge fan of it. Just felt like it was underappreciated. My friend and I had a discussion around that time, why P groove didn't have EX moves, and if it did, it would probably be the best groove in the game. There was just WAY too much work involved in making ex moves for every character in the game - they'd have to do more than make them flash yellow, they'd have to give each move new properties. Would be cool if the mod community went after it like they do UMVC3 nowadays :D
Oh look, more proof as to why CVS2 was really the best game of the "Big 3" from that era of Capcom. No disrespect to 3S and MVC2, but this game is just the one. Really wish more people played this on Fightcade.
😮 really? I know cap vs snk had alot of "rivial" start animations but i haven't seen them all so ones like Akuma n Iori or morgan and yuri was surprising also terry and guile lol thats just silly
@@LdarkkratosYeah, some of them don't really have rivals period, like Morrigan and her ancient sprite and poor, poor Kyosuke. Otherwise it mostly fits.
This game is crazy in that any other game, where a block ends a ranbu/autocombo super after the dash impact, the super would also end when you parried the dash. In THIS...the super KEEPS GOING AND ALL HITS NEED TO BE PARRIED. Crazy AF...
Parrying in this game is SO much harder than 3s Not only are there less freeze frames when you get a successful Parry but I'm pretty sure that the Parry recovery is not special cancelable
At first I was like "Seventeen minutes? There's no way I can watch this for seventeen minutes." Then I was like "Has it been seventeen minutes already?"
Amazing video! Evething from the parrys himself to the combos, to the taunts was so good! My favorites are the crazy Kim parry super from Sim and the parry to the Tiger Shot, they look like frozen in the air 😆
05:08 and 08:17 made me chuckle, especially since this seems like the most fun anyone has ever had in P-Groove. I was most surprised to see Hibiki's Lv. 3 needs to be parried twice though. Huh.
"Oh man, are you ready for this!?" When Nakoruru JUMPED OUT of Morrigan's demon whilst parrying, I audibly said, "yoooo there's way!" Leave it to Desk to make 20yo fighting games current again.
@desk you missed one hard challenge, air parry the double cyclone, it's very hard from what i recall. Either that or the air JD, i can't recall which but it takes a lot.
This videos gives me old school “sonic hurricane/XYZ” vibes, I miss this game so much so glad to see there’s always new tech and stuff coming out. Always a banger desk! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🔥🔥
Seeing CvS2 at the default speed is always so jarring. Awesome video though!! Curious what a K-Groove video would like from you. I remember learning to JD Sagat's Fierce SRK and Joe's Double Cyclone Super as a teen.
I remember my brother and I playing this game for a very short period of time (like just one month In the gamecube. It was someone's CD). While we sucked at all and didn't understand shit about the bar types, the controls at all (I don't get It but flicking c pad In the 8 directions had most of the strong moves.... was It edited by Its owner? Idk, never checked that, It didn't pass through our heads), and much less that there was a blocking thing. Even so, I can remember we enjoyed playing this game a lot. We would still remember a lot of characters, and that we liked to play with a lot of characters. It was a rare feeling cuz we aren't exactly fans of fighting games.
almost didnt catch the very particular custom names at the end. not sure about the other custom names other than "glitch" where Rolento was glitched while thrown.

In this game for training mode to make videos, you can turn on auto parry

Expecting a video for every groove now for no reason
agreed
a completely imperative reaction. we all SHOULD crave for them
K groove videos is just Haorumaru oneshot compilations
If I don't see Dictator painting some fences with A-Groove, I don't want it.
I agree
I want to know how each groove works
0:42 - How people picture themselves in P-Groove
0:28 - How things actually go in P-Groove.
Annoying P-Groove fighter? Just walk up and throw.
i think the ultimate lesson is its not worth parrying fireball supers or supers that let the user move before the move finishes
Good lord you butchered those timestamps lol
Man I love Hidden and Message, two underrated fighting game characters.
Cvs2, 3s, and mvc2 were peak capcom fighting games. An unbelievable run.
Yes agreed
All came out in a span of a couple years. Peak indeed
Can't wait for the arcsys remaster one day.
Just when we thought 2023 doesn’t have enough time left for another surprise, here comes Desk with this gem
The "Finest K.O." screen has to be the most hypest thing ever created in a fighting game.
I prefer "Dramatic KO", myself.
Neo rage background
Even better than the Final Impact screen.
Dream cancel fan here

The morrigan section was crazy.
Also the name changes were pretty great, especially the message at the end
Kaiser Knuckle OST that's a deep cut Desk.
2:57 ah yes, everyone's favorite boxer: -Balrog- -M. Bison- Dudley
Would love to see Desk take on more SNK fighters, especially Garou to see what kind of sauce he cooks up with just defends, the way counter hits work, and the usual choreographed shenanigans.
A video on the Art of Fighting games or Fatal Fury 2/Special would be interesting.
the Finest KO screen is one of the most satisfying KO screens in a fighting game.
Desk's music hits way harder when paired with gameplay of any kind.
God damn, that Neo Deadly Rave parry was sick.
Parrying into the Misogi was just a complete flex, though.
The world needs to see what Desk could unleash via Custom Groove!
0:59 LOOK THEY DID THE THING!
A bit sad it's not Ken though..
Great video! I miss CvS2 customization options. Even being able to change the character names was so awesome.
Yes agreed did my whole community

7:17. Holy shit! You can do THAT? What an awesome parry!
this is really impressive!!! funny how dhalsim parries with his leg.
6:25 missed opportunity to change Maki to "Makina" (machina), since she has that Mecha look.

*Finest KO*
Only this game calls it that!
(The first one had a different KO effect for it but didn't say it outright)
I had the PAL version on ps2 and never heard that. Was also called Dramatic KO iirc.
Always nice to see that Kaiser Knuckle/Dan-Ku-Ga OST get some love. 👍
Thar custom color for akuma is sick.
P-Groove really is the connaisseur's groove, so elegant and difficult yet not really efficient except if you're elite

Missing the part "what exactly does the "P-Groove".
5:57 that was always the dopest super to me growing up.
I miss the fighting game scene around 2002 in Philly. So many good memories and rivalries.
Unrealistically hoping a CAP-Cop watches this with a post-Christmas hangover and decides to spill the beans on the next CvS or Mahvel4. 😭
besides frame advantage they should have given P grove a damage bonus for each successful parry on the next attack - maybe something for cvs3
First time seeing a lot of these parry animations. I'm sure I'm not alone.
Cries in Hyper SFA
Love the Kaiser Knuckle ost in this vid
Would love to see custom combo groove now! You made P groove look so fun!
Parrying is ART!!
Im so used to parry other Street Fighter characters supers (in SF III) that it seems very interesting to try parry some SNK supers
I'm a simple man. I see a new desk video, i click.
Your yellow diamond CVS2 transitions were on point 👏
The fact that you could block any move is absolute nut case.
were the ones that didn't end in KO the most difficult?
