    I wanted to let you know, I liked your video and landscapes so much, I suggested it be shown to our guild of 100+ members. The board liked the idea and showed it via a projector and you-tube. The members loved it. A challenge has been issued to create an accidental landscape for next month. We've distributed your website to them for more info on your method and book. Thank you!

    An excellent video, Karen! You made it look so simple. I've made one from your excellent book. This Tuscany scene is the next one I want to make. I'm so glad I signed up for your e-mail. Just one constructive note - a light lamp to make the video a little brighter for your next ones. I've subscribed to your youtube channel.

    Thank you for this video. I made three landscape story blocks for a big quilt using this method. I am hand sewing and found this really easy. I started sewing 6 months ago during lockdown in Australia. I am starting to put the quilt top together and in the next couple of weeks will sew the three layers together. My backing fabric is a frozen panel that I’ve also added sashing etc. As a very inexperienced person I found videos like this extremely helpful. I would like to do big stitch quilting as this looks fairly easy. My question is this: As I’m quilting the layers together, can I do one colour of thread throughout that will somehow match the front and back, or do I have to sew the blocks individually to emphasise each block eg the landscapes and does it matter if, on the back fabric (frozen), it’s different? Or should I just do big stitch from side to side in a neutral colour. The quilt is 170x200cm. Sorry if I’m confusing you. I am confusing myself.

      Hi Hazel, Welcome to the world of quilting. To keep it simple you will need to pick one color of thread that will look nice on both the front and back. Simple quilting that echoes the lines of the landscape blocks is best. This may look very strange on the Frozen panel though, but you don't really have any other options, unless you replace the Frozen panel with a fabric that is more in keeping with the landscape theme. It sounds as though you have the makings of two separate quilts. Is there a reason for trying to keep them together?

    thanks for the nice video, do you have any tips on how to stop the house and trees from fraying?

    • @karen.eckmeier
      @karen.eckmeier  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Since these little quilts are wallhanging I don't worry about the fraying. I kind of like the fuzzy look for the trees. An alternative to keeping the house fabric from fraying, would be to use a paper backed fusible. Hope that helps :)

      Fray Check is a girl´s best friend! Just dab on edges and let dry... Not so much for heavy duty, like clothes or quilt, but great for keeping fabric edge from fraying while you handle it.

    Where do I find the next tutorial that teaches putting the batting and boards?

    • @karen.eckmeier
      @karen.eckmeier  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jude, I don't have a tutorial on adding the borders or the next step of making the "sandwich" of the top/batting and backing, HOWEVER those general directions for finishing any landscape scene is all written down in my "Accidental Landscapes" book (available on amazon.com)

      Thank you Ms. Karen E. You have beautiful work and easy learning... I will check out your book. I have to learn the next step in putting batting and the backing together with this kind of art work.. I’m trying to learn how to quilt as you go while doing landscaping.. I’m a beginner in quilting and honestly enjoy your work... thank you again

    What model Bernini do you have?

    • @karen.eckmeier
      @karen.eckmeier  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Currently I have a BERNINA 770QE, but for 25 years before that I did all of my quilting on a small basic mechanical BERNINA 1031.
