I especially thank you for showing us your very first projects, which "weren't that good". That REALLY helped me, because I am such a horrible perfectionist that I have a hard time getting started!! Your show and tell, truly, was inspiring for me. Your instructions were FAB also. Going to buy your book now!!
08/14/24 This is a wonderful service to the community, Debra!! I have been really enjoying your videos and find them very clear and inspirational reference material. Thank you!
Hi I’m delighted to make your acquaintance this is another side of free motion quilting. Thank you Deborah for your great explanation of starting free motion thread painting of landscapes. It inspired me to start a new thread painting landscape of my own.
I love your little landscape. I made two on my own a couple years ago and enjoyed every minute of them. Now I want to go bigger and get better. Thank you!
Thank you Jessie. Making landscapes is a lot of fun! And the options for creating different styles are wide - everything from abstract to photo-realistic thread paintings. If you want to learn more about making landscape quilts, have a look at my course all about it - Fabulous Fabric Landscapes at learn.deborahwirsu.com/p/fabulous-fabric-landscapes or check out the free info on my website www.threadsketchinginaction.com
Oh yes! Definitely, if you have some. It's fascinating (and sometimes frustrating!) fabric to work with. I love the effect of layering to see the changes of colours.
I can't wait to try this. I still have a job to go to so this will be a sweet little treat to take my mind off the craziness in my down-time. Your generosity is much appreciated. 🙏🏼Thank you Deborah!
Thanks, Rhonda - I truly believe anyone can do this if they want to. All they need is a little encouragement and guidance. Give it a go, and let me know! :) Deborah
Thank you for your thoughtful and detailed demonstration. So sorry to see what is being done to Australia these days, and hope your excellent work was been a comfort to you, and this whole period has been a very fruitful, concentrated, and productive period for you. All the best from The States.
Thank you so much for taking the time and generosity of heart to make this wonderful video. I absolutely love the layered look you have achieved and you certainly have inspired me to try it. I am really looking forward to seeing you demonstrate how you have done the back of the larger quilt. Lets face it, everyone turns your piece of art over to look at the back and I would love to know how you made it all look so tidy and smooth. You keep safe and well too.
Thank you so much! Great video, I am so happy that you gave me this bit of knowledge! Before I ever made a quilt, I found your TH-cam videos on thread painting and sketching. That is where my interest in fabric manipulation began. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing ❤️💗 & Caring.... Going to try very soon.... SENDING A BRIGHT WHITE LIGHT OF LOVE TO SURROUND THE UNIVERSE 🤗💞💖🤗 AND EVERYONE 🤗❣️❣️🤗💞 HUGS for Everyone 🤗🤗🤗💞♥️ Love your panels

thank you for this! incredible fabric art and I love it. you're very generous to share with us. I will definitely try these projects. I've wanted to learn this for a lot of years. now is the time I guess. again, thank you for sharing something so beautiful with us. ♥
Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. And remember, art quilts like this can be made with minimal materials, so get started and have some fun at this challenging time. :)
An absolutely fantastic tutorial! Plenty of information as well as lots of inspiration. I got this bit of fabric with various motorcycle photos printed on it as part of a joblot on ebay and I did not know what to do with it. Now I can try to put them in some sort of a city landscape. I am going to play with that. Thank you, Deborah! You've got yourself a loyal fan and a subscriber.:-)
I really, really enjoyed this video. I learned a lot. I love how on the 2nd quilt you have the willows all the way to the edge of the quilt. Did you just bind three sides & face the bottom? Looking forward to more tutorials & thread sketching.
Yes, I added the border before stitching the hay (willows are a great idea!), then stitched to the edge. After stitching, the edges were finished with a blind facing, just like adding a facing to an edge when dressmaking. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Hello Deborah. Just coming out the other side of Long Covid and enjoying your videos. I've clicked on your link: STITCHING TOGETHER ONLINE LIBRARY, but I'm getting a 404 - any ideas, please? Many thanks, Helena.
Thank you for sharing and helping me to get back to learning all this!
