Similar multi curve block on utube is "blue onion" videos. more complicated to cut with special ruler, and lots of curves too. More blocks from one stack, but I think this one is prettier. Another commenter mentioned using scraps for less waste. Good idea. Worth making )))
Thank you! I agree that this is a great project for scraps. Save the "wasted" fabric (aka the trimmed fabric from the back) for collage projects, then it is put to good use :)
Gorgeous!
So clever.
That's so cool
It's very beautiful technic used by you is amazing Thank you sharing.
Just now I am watching this vedio it made me try to do with scrap fabric following your classes . I am zero knowledge in this., beggner. Your tutorials and colors combinations are awesome. You are superb. I hope you guide me. Thank you baby. I love you.
So fun to find you and your Wearable Waves! I've been wanting to make a vest and your technique is fabulous! I ordered your book and I'm getting the materials together while I'm waiting for it. I love your back designs too and I hope they are explained in your book. Thanks again!
Glad you found me! ...and yes, the back designs are explained in the book also. Have fun making waves to wear!
I’m Im loving this, and really looking forward to giving this a try!

I really like the way you teach, and a great pattern
Thanks for dharing!
What kind of glue do you use?
Roxanne's Glue-Baste-It. it is water soluble, dries clear and has a super long fine applicator tip
This is a wonderful technique!
Beautiful 🤩🥰
I still don’t care for the mesh overlay, there must be a different way to quilt this
It's the best solution since the fabrics are so tiny that if you quilt on them they fray so much that they kind of disintegrate. Another option you may prefer is to use a paper backed fusible to stabilize your fabrics and hence the edges, then you don't have to use the tulle (fine netting....not mesh). The result is a flatter look and a little harder to quilt through, but many have been happy with this approach. They key is to have fun!
How clever and charming. Thank you.
What a cool technique!
Karen, This is such a lovely pattern! Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us. You are a wonderful teacher...I'm so glad to have found your site!
Absolutely beautiful!
What good idea.
Does anyone know how this pattern reacts with longarm machine after you put the batting and back on? Is there issues with stitching as the sample shown has large X pattern.
I quilt only on a stationary home machine so don't know how it reacts to a long arm. What do you mean about a large X pattern??
@karen.eckmeier Thank you for answering me so. quickly. I really appreciate it. You sewed your quilt top on the diagonal, making an x design! What I wanted to do is sew roses into the quilt I made using free motion or the long arm.
Love it! But so much fabrics are wasted. This is like the Paper Iris Folding but no wasted papers. Would love to try it and frame it. Thanks for sharing.
Consider the fabric as "not wasted" but rather as a base to create those tiny little shapes, which would otherwise have been very hard to deal with! 🙂
Wonderful!❤
Can these be washed after drying in the sun?
Yes, they can be washed after heat setting them with an iron. The colors remain vibrant.
I find the quilting difficult to follow. It would be nice to see it sewn piece by piece.
Since this was done for a TV show, I wasn't allowed too much time to show all of the steps. For more details check out my book Wearable Waves on amazon.com and also my other 2 TH-cam videos: Quilted Waves Vest I and II.
Just beautiful! I can't wait to try it!
Tis brilliant !!🎉
What fun! I am tall and "wide"; now to find a long enough sweatshirt!
Check out the size and measurement charts for the different brand of sweatshirts on the Jiffyshirt.com website. Each brand varies a lot with their measurements. Hopefully that will help you find the perfect fit. Good luck
Thank you!@@karen.eckmeier
This is fabulous method of stylized art. You do beautiful work. I've been having fun with this concept for years with colored cardstock. Such an easy relaxing way for anyone to express themselves.
The fabric is not ruined as you say, nor is it wasted. The extra material used creates the fabric base for the tiny curved pieces to be created. It won't work any other way, unless you enjoy working with really tiny pieces.....and I prefer these topstitched curves :)
I’ve never seen this technique before. What an interesting idea! I think I may check out your new book too.
Great ideas, thank you
wow this is awesome - you make it look so easy and gorgeous landscapes !
Wow that all so beautiful
Thankyou Karen for sharing your knowledge on this creative simple flow of textiles. I am very excited to try quilting for the first time without strict boundies involved. I love textile art as there is no need for functionality its all aesthetic.
I like this block design except for the waste it produces. I would have to figure out a way to avoid the waste in order to use it. Thanks for the tutorial.
I love how you’re free designing this is nice looks real easy to do thank you so much
Wow I’m amazed
You have blown my mind with all the wonderful journey’s! Thank you for the inspiration!
Muy lindo trabajo. Me encanta. Felicidades
