Oh man, there's another version of this called Lightning Strikes Again, you gotta listen to it.
That is actually a remix of two tracks from this game. Lightning Strikes Again is the name of the opening music of Thunder Force 4.
This be metal squad
No what you're saying is Japanese artist called S.S.H. recompose lighting strikes again and metal squad together, and it's considered a cover instead of OST.
@user-dy6zy2gq3j it's a good rendition
@@張議燆 All S.S.H. rearrange are fire
Saitama Saisyu Heiki (S.S.H) made a cover of this. It kicks ass!!
And that version slaps at Ludicrous Speed and could quite possibly turn your blood to gasoline.
Yes that one is good but i think he can do it better with all thos sick solos.
i bought this game day one.
I became musician (bassist) because of Metal Squad.
True Story.
There is a full metal cover version that kicks ass
I think you're talking about this:

Finding new gems thru this channel is awesome. Now I need to finally play this one…
Give you about a week of practicing and playing around with different tempo and rhythm sets on this song and you could totally rock this solo at a concert and get the crowd chanting along. Depends on if you go strictly solo as bass or rhythm guitar. Your bandmates could join in though and this song just automatically comes alive with just 3 people. Bass + Rhythm + Drums = *WOW!!*
ever heard SSH’s arrangement?
@@crimson-foxtwitch2581 I'm not sure, but I could look it up! 😁

That saw wave like sound in metal squad
is actually a lead guitar with a phaser pedal connected
No it is not but I can see why you think that because they manage to replicate that sound with a yamaha FM sound chip and it shows how impressive it is that they manage to do it so well that you think it it is actually from real instruments.
@delloda mhm and it's also interpreted as a saw wave in broken thunder
@@direktexe8436It is a saw wave, i agree but It is not "actually" a lead guitar with pedal but was emulating it masterfully. Broken thunder was released years after the megadrive/genesis version as an arranged version of metal squad.
The acommpanying sounds just push this song to 120%, Fits in so well, especially at 6:02 where the song calms down as if to leave room for something extra
All the power of the Yamaha SEGA GENESIS/ MEGADRIVE chip is in that soundtrack, good cover metal my dear, take your good like!
The gameplay and graphics are also fantastic! I have played this game hundreds of times, one of the best on the Genesis.
Thunder Force has always had the best music. TFV Was Amazing
Duuuude...FUCK this brings me back. This had a huge part into why metal is so awesome to me. I would just let the game run and jam when I was little...like 7ish..I could feel the metal in those 16 bit sounds! Lol
You should listen to War Like Requiem from Thunder Force 4 if you thought Metal Squad was brutal lol. Thunder Force 4 in my top10 greatest game music of all time
Turning blood into gasoline for over 10 years. Thank you for playing along with the OG version.
I put on the SSH version wheil playing DCS, Ace Combat and Star Wars Squadrons. The intro to the SSH version is the TF4 intro theme Lightning Strikes Again. Slaps at the speed of light. It's perfect for launch prep, carrier launch or coming out of Hyperspace.
That second solo around the the 6 minute mark SLAPPED ASS
Try "Legendary Wings" and "Steel of Destiny" From Thunder Force 5
The main difference between Sega and SNES were how they handled sounds.
The SNES had far better sampling and overall sounds a lot smoother and cleaner.
Where the Genesis sound system was basically just a Synth. One that was really good at distortion.
which made it better!
@@delloda I wanna make a fusion of the two.
random Thunder Force fan here, awesome cover!
nothing random about being a thunderforce fan!
Please make a full blown cover of it!
for me Thunder Force 4 is the best game in the series ! and for me it's the best track of the game !! stage 08 🥰
Chills. All over.
Awesome, do it again!!
Damn this is so sick!
this is actually soldier of fortune by loudness, even the solo. sick anyways!
Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!! from jp!
2:56 yes, but we forgive you, this song will clean your soul anyway
"Metal Squad" has a very J-rock type of sound. I've heard that riff in quite a few J-rock songs.
Thunderforce 4 kicks so much ass.
do Long Distance from Revenge of Shinobi. Also, try Mercs, great metal soundtrack
So when is the cover coming? I 've listening to this vid, weekly already for months. I've already made my version with ableton live for personal consumption with all the riffs and solo from this vid but I would prefer a genuine version from you.
Check out Soldier of Fortune by the Japanese band Loudness. This song is almost like a tribute to it.
Indeed
Thanks, never knew that!
5:34 - 6:44 🔥
What tuning are you in? Also, love the channel! Guitar goals right here
Another Mega Drive shooter with good music was Hellfire. That game's music reminded me of the Master System game Zillion.
Gynoug is impressive too.
I love the Hellfire soundtrack. In fact all Toaplan shooters had amazing soundtracks. Check out an arcade only game called OutZone, that's my personal favorite.
There are so many other amazing tracks in that game
It's a Sega Genesis (Megadrive) exclusive! No way to play similar fame onSNES!
u should do a cover version over the original vgm... that sounded cool to me
Did you ever cover this one?
No, this song totally sounds something like what Dragonforce would cover. Also, contrary to what you say, Capcom proved that guitars can, in fact, play on an SNES/NSFC, and if that is not a strong enough argument for that, then the SD2SNES and MSU-1 are more than enough to make your argument invalid.
Have you done a cover of this? I can't find the video.
I’ll put lyrics to it!
Here comes the metal squad
Burning like fire
Feeling the power
You are the chosen one
Fighting for the right
Flying into the light
Etc :)
6:00 fuck me! your solo is fucking amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!This has made me a fan.
you need to lister Contra Hard Coprs OST "Last Springsteen"
Could you react and play the song "stand up against myself" from thunder force 4? Also the song Sand Hell
did you ever do a full cover of it?
Look for a recording with original hardware, this version sounds too harsh.
Also the snes is more like a sample machine, that's why orchestral songs sound good on it, the megadrive uses FM synthesis.
SSH did an arrangement of this that kicks supreme ass.
Judas priest rules.
This whole ost is ripped out of Defenders of the Faith and Screaming for Vengeance.
This song, is big hunks of Hellion, and The Sentinel. Almost note for note.
It doesnt sound like 90's music, because it is british 80's metal.
Please don't say this is from Nintendo. 😐
SUPER NINTENDO? THIS GAME IS ONLY FOR SEGA MEGA DRIVE (GENESIS)!
Reac blaze heatnix megaman x6
It's not a real guitar
It's fm synthesis way more complex sounds better on real hardware ym2612.
The genesis was the most metal 16 bit console ever
Should've linked the guitar version instead of this one that just sounds grating on the ears
We don't take that kinda slander here
The grate makes it PEAK
OMG even if this is not an official remix, this is the best sound ever.
I always thought the drums and bass were perfect, but the lead was too harsh. Your guitar sound is absolutely perfects and totally fits the song.
Do you think you could try an official "play along" remix or something like that, without you talking and the pauses in this video?
I'll extract the audio of this video and try to use Audacity to select only the parts where you play along, but that won't be good enough. ha ha
