  • We compare the 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5, Kia EV6, and Volkswagen ID.4 to discover that, although they are priced and sized similarly, they have very different personalities.
The Volkswagen ID.4 is missing features compared to the Koreans and would benefit from a mild chassis retune for more comfort. Charging was also an issue but overall, it's a good EV.
The Hyundai IONIQ 5 is impressive for its power and versatility. Its styling turned heads but because of it, it is frozen in time and will age quickly.
Finally, the Kia EV6 blew us away. Styling-wise, it's sharp and unique without being polarizing. The driving experience is lively and rewarding.

Trying to choose between the Model 3, ID 4, Ioniq 5, and EV 6. Funny that it is 3, 4, 5, 6. I like the high tech features on the Ioniq and EV but many of those features are only on top trims. I like the price and value of the ID4 plus I see it has an amazing turning circle, but it seems a step below the tech on the others. Model 3 is very good, but doesn't qualify for any tax incentives. I've also heard the turning circle is not good on Model 3. The Ioniq and EV are being sold way above sticker which makes them a poor value in my opinion even with the tax rebates. The Ioniq 5 seems too wide to fit in many tight spaces, the EV6 seems too dark inside and a bit too long. The infotainment on the ID4 is slow, but I've heard it works better if you close the maps app.

The key difference between these cars and the Model 3 is that they are hatchbacks and the Model 3 is a sedan. So, as a dog owner the Model 3 is already out of the equation.

@@yellowsnowman9157 no it isn't - it's very useful when someone parks right next to you and you can't get into the drivers door. Otherwise @Z the ID4 infotainment is awful so I wouldn't touch it, Model 3 is a completely different car (Model Y is the closer comparison). The Ioniq 5 and EV6 are very similar dimensions - they are bigger than they look in images, but not that big, dimensions are very similar to my current bmw3 series so not a compact car but not huge. I do agree nobody should be paying above msrp on any new car.

@@fraserreddick8828 it's a pointless feature. People will just sneak out of the car rather than wait 5 minutes to remote drive a car. You'll use the feature twice to show off and never again. It's cool, but a gimmick and useless

Absolutely correct about the 1-pedal driving addiction. If ID.4 had decent regen and/or offered stronger regen I would have put a deposit down months ago. I'm a 2016 e-Golf driver and although it's not true 1-pedal, the strongest of the the regen options is very, very close. I just can't see myself going back to a car without it. It's so frustrating that VW _chose_ to restrict user choice, a real face-palmer. Why, VW, why? ARE YOU LISTENING VW?

Your opinions about the cars are kind of interesting:
Motorwayrange has to be: ev6 is the most efficient, then the id4 and last the ioniq 5
At least in Europe the ev6 and ioniq 5 have massiv fast charging problems in the winter, but in summer it‘s amazing
And the Koreans don‘t plan any charging stops automatically and make annoying sounds all the time
The id4 is kind of boring but I think it‘s the one which just makes its job with the least issues

You need to brush up on your charging tech. What was the power output of your level 2 EVSE? A 50kw fast charger won't get your the charging times that VW states, you need at least a 150kw fast charger for that.
Contrary to popular belief I prefer the ID.4 to either of these cars. The ID.4 has the features that I think are important and it costs the least. The biggest deal breakers are no rear window wipers, no wireless/full screen Android Auto, small/ no glass roofs, no heated windshield.

My first thoughts as well. Either it's just ann errant ignorant statement or it's done on purpose. Neither is acceptable. Both are careless and irresponsible. Just saw all three at Chicago auto show. The kia and Hyundai are very nice cars with a few more niceties at premium prices and no availability nor the ability to buy with extortion fees from any of their dealers. So 5 grand more and the a min 3 grand "dealer" fee.
I've only driven the id4. Did not have any issues at all with the the screen as he was experiencing. I know there have been issues but I have not experienced them and I have researched a lot about it. It's a non issue from what I can tell among most owners. Knowing this information leads me to not trust this channel at all. Too careless in their presentation.
