It's absolutely amazing. Going to buy 2 in just over a week when I get my money.
Just imagine what is coming in the future. The mind boggles
Got it now. Andertons were temporarily out of stock. It seems they are selling well. Having played with it for a few hours I'm totally blown away. Everyone needs at at least one. It's fun on the train again lol
@@andyturner3056 Nice! Just ordered one from andertons, so excited!
Amazing video, it was a joy to menu dive with you and now I feel like I know so much more than the manual could explain :)
It goes deeper then expected!
It also looks awesome on the upper left side of my JP8000, kinda looks like a modern interpetation of the yamaha CS60 ;p
Great instructional video,ta! It's certainly what I've been waiting for 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Mine as just arrived today, I really appreciate your tutorial, thank you for your help.
Oh, I love these miniaturized versions of synth legends! 😍 For the same reason I bought a Yamaha Reface DX a few years ago. It is amazing how good a 49,-€ synth can sound. I'm currently not sure If I would buy this but I'm sure that there will be a fan community soon. I am also very exited if Behringer will release the CS mini also. I saw promising prototype photos of the CS mini in spring 2022 but it's still not available I think.
Well explained - In Engaging Style! I felt encouraged to dive into the (not too deep after all) menus as a result. GREAT little synth! Few similar offer a plausible "Supersaw" sound? And, with a little tinkering... :P
I have spent more on Plectrums this year, and none of those makes these sounds! 😂
Gotta be done 🙌🤯🙌
Thanks dude, great vid! Saved for future reference 🙏
Got mine today. It's incredible for the money 👌
@@andyturner3056 🙌🤩🙌 Awesome to hear the feedback 🎧👌
Excellent video! Enjoyed it a lot and learned some handy stuff. I got this little machine just yesterday, bought it online in a slightly drunk, nightly impulsive move, but one I didn't regret afterwards this time, haha 😉 It is such a fun little machine. And as small as it is, it already deserved a place in my setup
Great sounds from a tiny synth! Thanks, Doug! 😄
Oi oi, gray. I watched this when it first came out as I knew I would get this little synth. I just revisited this as I just got my unit and it’s a ripper. Thanks for the vid, it’s a lovely cheat sheet 😊.
after watching a few videos. i decided i'm getting one.
A great tutorial and demo man, appreciate you! 🙌🐀
I got mine today and I tried to connect it with an IPad and Midikeyboard via Camera Connection Kit. The JT 4000 was connected via USB Hub. But the Keyboard was not recognized. Can you please show us your Setup and how it works? I was not able to find an explanation on the web so far.
Cant a midi keyboard send power and notes over the same cable?
@@robertsteinberger5667yes but it still needs a program to isolate the midi channels, like I said I just got it and haven’t had the time yet to try other options.its no biggie like I said I is AUM a lot and it separates what I need. If you no know something I don’t, please spill the beans! Lol
There's a Video on TH-cam how to Play "without Computer"... Take a look
I’m on the verge of getting this and every time I think I have the midi solution figured out I find a roadblock. Guess I need to watch that video @VideoJunkXXL mentioned.
@@PoppaDocRocks the easiest and way most useful is get the Widi, however the newest ones have a midi in and out, Widi 1/8 connects either the a or b, and cleaner than cables everywhere I Also bought a bunch of audio Bluetooth connectivity. I spent maybe $300 on 3 BT midi boxes and 4 of the 1/8 connectors all are no BT midi and audio, worth every cent! I have 18 synths all setup like this.
Sweet little synth
Thanks Doug, I'm really considering its bigger brother, the PRO VS Mini.
Yes, that looks brilliant me thinks, and sounds great too
This is amazing, gonna buy a jp8000 now.
I have been pricing a lot of the newer cheaper gear. There are some good units out there. Roland has a good amount of them being produced also.
Got a Roland Jd-xi today. Love Roland gear.
This little synth is a beast for the money and got one yesterday. Soooo powerful for the money 😎👌
Thanks for this useful review!
I just got one these and I ordered a j6 at the same time, well with Misha, or NDLR and have both, and Integra 7 I cancel the J 6, I probably should have tried it, but I have all the other compact Roland’s, and SH4d with this little $50 charm, I’m thrilled! This little devil has a lot of help, for one the Integra 7 has a built in Jupiter synthesizer completely alterable! And the SH4D has a Juno channel. Like you show with a Arturia keystep pro easy sequencing, actually it has to be plugged into the computer for midi, that doesn’t thrill me and there’s no way around it that I can see? But with Auv3 who cares! Lol, ignore that bought 2 j6s and it very full sound! I’ve been asked several times to show so I will soon.
12:49 Blakes 7 ❤
Aaaagggghh attack of the 50ft Doug, or Land of the Giants?
It sure sounds nice, but it’s so wee.
Great demo.
What I really dont' get is, How the HOLD function works: If you switch to ARP mode and then change the octave and play notes while still in «Settings», JT-4000 activates the HOLD function, even when I change the preset. Unfortunately, I don't know where to deactivate HOLD function, as I have to switch back from ARP to KEY mode. Any ideas? Bug?
Were you eating crisps before playing, those greasy knobs 😂
Great info !! Thanx..
Nice one mate this really helps better than putting me reading glasses on and perusing the manual! Much appreciated. What's the split cable you use on the phones output mate?
How could I go by Johnny Trash and NOT buy the JT-4000 😂 it is $65 on Amazon and on back order, but I'm happy to wait
Who needs this? ;-)
I would say that this little thing is much more suitable for small yacht sailing folk than Moog modular (or many other full size synths). There is many more little synths too but I personally appreciate that kind of little gadgets.
It's cool and all but I can only get it to work as a MIDI controller when connected to my PC... the whole synth aspect doesn't seem to work unless I'm using it with headphones or an aux cable hooked to a speaker.
Time markers, please. Good tutorial❤
I havent been able to update 14:33 my JT-4000 or my Pro VS mini from 1.1 2. The synthtribe app sees them both but wont update firmware.
Also cant seem to change programs over midi on JT-4000. Either from Reason or from editor.
Any ideas?
Isn't Port Mento in Wales?
We want a full size model
Thanks Doug! Very interested in these little Behringer synths. Have you gotten the Pro VS yet?
No, I haven’t got the Pro VS yet, they seem to be out of stock everywhere at the moment, although I haven’t checked for a few days.
I like this little synth, they packed a lot into it.
@@TheSoundTestRoom I just checked and yeah indeed still out of stock, even stateside. It looks great, though. Would love to pair it with my Volcas and Pocket Operators. Thanks Doug 🙏
@@TheSoundTestRoom VS = Very Scarce. They cannot be found anywhere. 😁
how to record audio from jt 4000 ?
I hate how the pots "stick" at zero. You have to drag them up from 0 to 12 and then back down if you want the values low.
Hi are you using a midi keyboard or keyboard and can you tell me how me how are you you in connecting it and I like your videos 👍
I've got mine on order. So this is a great preparation for when it arrives.
PS Is that a Merseyside accent I detect there?
Yes, it is, I left there in 1986.
I’m pleased you found the video helpful 👍😊
@@TheSoundTestRoom Me too. I have lived in Catalunya ever since. Thatcher's Britain was not a place I could have stayed in. Especially as her hate of the Arts and Liverpool meant the course I was teaching on was shut down
@@TheSoundTestRoomMine finally arrived. Amazing piece of kit for the price. Thanks to your tutorial I have already edited a couple of presets I would never use.
Could you possibly explain (preferably on a video) how you set up yours to be able to use an external keyboard via your i-pad?
🎉
Hey Doug are you still enjoying this? How’s it holding up? Thinking of buying one next week to pair with my new 404 :)
I so want one 😂
is it mono or stereo?
...interesting...but did you say (mean) it's not as full feathered as the iOS version?....bringing the question...why would you want it instead?....
Working with hardware is a different experience than working with software…
Some people really enjoy the hardware experience over software, I like both, it’s all good fun😊
Is it possible to connect it via midi directly to a keyboard or is it necessary to connect it to a PC?
You need to connect a midi keyboard via a pc or in the case I am using here, an iPad, because it also uses the built in USB C connector for power, you need to first connect it to a powered hub, then the hub to the computer or iPad.
Great video, thank you!
So that means it's not possible to ONLY operate it with a small midi keyboard and a power bank via an adapter?
That would be an exclusion criterion for me!
Such a small device is particularly suitable for on the go. But if you absolutely have to take a laptop or iPad with you, it's absurd. Then I can use a thousand better plugins@@TheSoundTestRoom
@@TheSoundTestRoom which powered hub are you using? Is it possible you are using a usb host device? If you could list the make and model, or show your connection process, I think many people would benefit from this.
Behringer a Company full of secrets 🤣
For example I have an old Xenix USB 1204 mixer this old thing is class complaint it works
with iPad but they don’t write it on the packaging 🤷♂️
Can a keystep send midi notes and power over the same cable?
Yes and no. It will send power via a 5 pin din midi cable from the midi out, but via usb it will only receive power.
@@kentaccordionist thanks, it will only work with an dapter for the jt 4000 and behringer is going to make them affordable i heard
Cute, but the lack of a separate MIDI connection, even a mini jack, relegates this to the 'tpy' bucket as far as my cheap-o hardware setup goes. Even my Pro VS mini has MIDI, ffs! Nice try, Behringer, but you got limp at the end and didn't finish. Le sigh.
theres no midi.....
Yes there is. It is MIDI over USB so you need to connect it to a computer. You can then play it either via a DAW or via a USB MIDI controller keyboard connected to the computer.
If you have to go through a DAW, it's basically a limited VST.
