    Hello from Oklahoma! I was taught to keep a sheet of 3/4 exterior plywood in my pickup bed, with a hole top center for your rope. Tie the head at the top thru the hole. pick it up on the other end slide it in. Still works for me and I'm 64 years young. Oh yeah, I generally field dress my deer, cuts about a third to half off the weight.

      @AmericansWillRise 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Plywood is so much easier, really. Drag it up as high as you can, and you gain leverage.
      An electric winch on a receiver hitch game pole, is the bestest way, though. 😂

      Sheet of plywood comes in handy a helluva lotta ways when you away from civilization, and it only costs 3/4” of space in your truck when you load up to leave.

      A big one will make the eyes bulge a bit. By notching the board top end it fits against the tray end, and you can see saw the carcass up the angled board avoiding the direct lift. Requires balancing carefully, starting again is character building. It can help to have similar winch systems either side that can be braked enabling a rest on the big ones.

    I think it is very clear this man would have been more than capable of picking up this deer and loading it into the back of the truck, it is evident based on the fact that he flipped the animal up over the tailgate once it reached the top with no problem whatsoever. That being said, in the description of the video it does say "Loading a deer into a vehicle by yourself can be almost impossible depending on the size of the animal and person" now for an able bodied person lifting up a deer this size is no problem at all, even carrying a deer a long distance in the woods over your shoulder and loading it up once you get there is a breeze. Please hear me out though; picture yourself a less able bodied person, 70+ years plus of age but stubborn as a mule to still do things on your own (I'm sure you now the type) You're out on the hunt by yourself and you happen to bag a 210lbs monster buck. You have hooked up the deer to your ATV and dragged it to the truck.....but now the hard part...how in the heck do you get this buck in the truck? Watch this video and you will learn how. This system is very well thought out. If we are in the hunting community we have surely heard of people abandoning the sport due to health reasons or physical concerns. This system may prolong the hunting lifestyle of a lifelong outdoor enthusiast who, although, may no longer be able to do some heavy lifting, still carries a never ending passion for the outdoors. Thanks for sharing this video Gamehandlers.

      A ramp made of a board works, as wide as you need it to balance the carcass across, & strong enough to handle the biggest one. Best if it has a step in the top end to rest its upper end on the tailgate and not creep up into the tray when winching up the carcass. The angle is easier that a direct lift if it it see sawed up. Don't let it drop off either side. The length of teh tray dictates the board length, for transport. Can winch up 100kg+ carcasses alone using it.

Only way I can load one solo is with a 6’ board I lean against the tailgate and gutting the deer first, but even then it’s a huge effort.

    Cut a piece of 1/2 inch plywood the same length as the bed. Prop the plywood from the tailgate to the ground. Tie a line around the deer's head. Climb into the bed and pull the deer onto the plywood. Get out of the bed, lift the plywood from the ground and slide the plywood and the deer into the bed. That is a lot simpler method Otis.

    Great info and video. But 1st before you drag a deer by yourself you should field dress it. Makes dragging AND loading a whole lot easier. You drag a 200lb + buck or even a 130lb doe not field dressed 300 yards to your vehicle, then you won't have the energy or strength left to even try this method if doing by yourself. Especially if you have to drag up a steep hill. But good info and idea thanks

    Get in truck bed with loop reaching down as low as I can taking out slack so the deer's feet are straight up, and pick up.
    Start walking backwards, drag the deer in, and done.
    Be sure you have a spray-in bed liner so you don't slip.

    Plywood; one person, no lifting, loaded in less than 1 minute. If you tailgate is too high above ground level; 2 pieces of plywood connected with hinges...

    Tie head up to tail gate, get in bed and pull deer up. Now when I get older I’ll just tell my son to do it lol.

    Wedge a leg, head or antler in the tail gate support get in the truck and pull it in….

    I'm guessing that there are trees around..get the gambrel and hoist combo. What you would use to hang a deer if you are out away for a few days and get one and hang it.. .then just back your truck up under it and lower it onto the truck ..
    If you hunt a field with no trees around?? I guess this works..
    People, please. The guy was just demonstrating how to do this with a deer he happened to get, as a helpful hint. I'm sure if he wasn't doing a video to show this method, he'd have just picked up the deer. I'm sure it didn't go much more than 100-110 pounds .

    Field dressing it first would be a good start.
    When he put that strap across the bed, I thought he was goin to put a come-along on it & crank it on up in there. Nope.

    still seems easier to pick it up and manually lift it onto the truck bed

      @@TheYamahog12Well, it is. This video is clearly intended for those who are smaller, older, or less capable.
      A small deer like in this video is just a lift and roll into the bed. A good size deer you just lift the head and antlers onto the tailgate and then climb into the bed and pull with your legs the rest of the deer on up.

    • @TheYamahog12
      @TheYamahog12 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jimyeatsThat’s not easier. Especially when you get old.

      @@TheYamahog12 Agree to disagree, but if you read my post I note that if you are smaller or older it may not be easier.
      With that said, arguing that it isn’t easier for the average male to just lift it into the back of the truck simply because it isn’t easy for you, is like saying that just because you can’t lift a box onto a shelf it’s easier to take everything out one at time and thats the way everyone should do it.
