  • All you need is a couple of ropes, a pulley, and a piece of plywood.

Kayaker here. If you have that board, and you already have it on the tailgate, you already have your solution. Tie off the deer with the rope so it won’t slip down the board. With the front of the board on the ramp, lift up the back of the ramp and slide the whole board into the truck bed with the deer on top. If you lift properly, the leverage of the board takes half the weight off, like a wheel barrow. Kayakers put kayaks over their heads onto SUVs the same way.

I use my game cart pretty much the same way. I posted a video on how I do it, if you are interested in checking it out.

I'll be damned. I would of assumed the ramp would of fallen off the tailgate when ya pulled away. The deer keeps it secure....brilliant!

I want to say thanks for shareing this video. This is how I load my deer, hogs now. There use to be a day when I could just lift them and throw in back of my truck but when you have buldging discs in your back you are limited to what you use to be able to lift... If you never had back pain before you would not know what im talking about...Thank you

FYI there is no “force multiplier” here or any mechanical advantage. The pulley is simply doing a change of direction allowing the power of the truck to hoist the full weight of the deer up into the bed via the ramp. A good tip none the less

That's is awesome. Back east here we have lots of trees. Sometimes my wife and I have to try to get a deer on the truck by our self, and she has a bad elbow so this is a great idea. Thanks a lot.

I use 2 2x8 ramps. I usually have my deer on a game cart or deer sled and just drag it up. If I can drive my truck into the ditch all the easier to load. I've also used a ratchet pulley. This works great as you are right there working it up.

I use a 4-wheeler ramp and a plastic jet sled! Works with hardly any effort an if get on a road or where there is a bank it levels the ramp out even more! Keep deer in sled an don’t have a bloody mess to wash out!

Great idea thanks for sharing. There is however no "force multiplying power" mentioned at 2:11 when using a single pulley like this. To "multiply the force" you would need several pulleys (then you would no longer need a truck to lift it).

That's the smartest way I have seen yet. I was seeing where you was going with it for a second. When you said pulley. Then I wondered if the board was going to fall off.

if you used at least one more pulley, three would be best you wouldn't need a fence post or tree at all just your own pulling power

Nice idea, but... what if you didn't kill your deer by a tree, or stout post? Then you have to drag it to one.

No just keep. Stake in your vehicle and. Drive it in the ground & tie the rope to it

I'm 50 and I just grab it by the antlers and pull it in. Our deer aren't small in North Dakota either. Maybe some day I could use this method when I'm in my 60s.

That may be all and well for your small 100 lb deer, but some people have to haul more than just a meager 100 lbs by themselves. In that situation you are really only left with two options: Butcher your meat out of the field and carry it in pieces (prone to spoiling in hot weather), or resort to methods like the one above that won't damage your body.
