I know the plate shaking is a blooper, a gaff, but it actually does work in full context. The Actor who played King John never took his eyes off of the Doctor and the Master, slamming his hand down to stop the plate shaking, and the loud thud is when they started swordfighting. Honestly that plate worked like a starting pistol for a duel, just, not intended to be so.
Honestly, Anthony Ainley is the most wooden master of all time. He is bland, dull, camp, and uninteresting. Plus he appeared in way too many 80s Doctor Who episodes. So he just kind of gets on my nerves.
Sloppy form. Waving their swords around behind themselves, instead of driving forward. At least they were aiming for each other, instead of their opponent's sword. 🙄
Different type of Master too; Ainley was like a classic panto villain; Delgado was the classic Svengali, but more believably played the character as an old friend of the Doctor's. I suppose if you were to draw a modern comparison, Ainley would be more like Simm, or Dhawan; Delgado would be more like Gomez.
