🚨I recently tested another faster Apple CarPlay & Android Auto system with an 10" screen where don't need to dismantle the interior! 👉th-cam.com/video/QNBPixBGxyg/w-d-xo.html
Hi Peter! I did this with the same unit from ISUDAR as you suggested, thanks for the great video! Few things which I noticed that might help others, at least those with a disco 4: 1. Consider unplugging your battery (we didnt, was a bit stressy as the electronics went on while plugging on the unit but worked out in the end for testing) 2. Bring a small plastic "knife/spatula", some of the plastics are really stuck 3. Be ready to pull the side plastics around the center console hard. Our plastics were so jammed that we used two persons for it. In the end some of the metallic plugs for these got loose and fell inside but they could be retrevied from the side of the console where your feet normally are (convenient) 4. Test different spots to mount your box. We ended up using the spot under the gear selector. It fits there nicely, wiring and fitting it down the back of the aircon was not easy but after that it worked great. For us putting it on the top of the screen seemed impossible. We also wired the wifi antenna (for better carplay apparently) behind the cupholder inside the center console and drilled a small hole for the usb outlet which can stream the screen. 5. Watch other videos. There are a few videos on youtube that help with the stripping of the interior that will come handy especially when putting everything back together. 6. Check comments from this video and the other. Lots of great tips there. 7. For our car we had all pins on OFF. 8. Take time with the wiring. It is not hard but takes some thinking and moving to get it good. Again thanks for your great input to this and a Happy New Year!
Hi Alex! Glad to hear the ISUDAR unit worked out for you! Your tips are really helpful, especially about unplugging the battery and using a plastic tool for stubborn plastics. It's always good to have a heads-up on the challenges like pulling the side plastics. Thanks for sharing your mounting solution and the advice on watching other videos and checking comments for additional tips. Wishing you a fantastic New Year too! 🎉
Hi again! One week using it in minus 15-20 degrees, no issues with the unit at all! One thing which I noticed is that using carplay through wifi only (and perhaps also bluetooth?) the microphone for my calls is my phone mic and not the car...? This is most likely an issue of my phone settings but ill have to look into it more later! Outside of carplay stuff, the heated steering wheel button and function suddenly stopped working while driving back home despite working 10 minutes before. Thanks have installed this into a 2015 Discovery 4 and had no issues. The duration of three hours is about spot on even allowing time to reference TH-cam videos and double checking and testing before reassembling. Was a little concerned that I would need to play around with the dip switches (nothing in the manual just the sticker on the device) based on some previous comments however left them all OFF as per the sticker and it works great. Still have the normal reverse camera and the 4x4 screens as required.
Thank you Peter! This video was a huge help. I just finished installing a Carplay/Android Auto system in our 2016 LR4. It is working perfectly:) I tucked the box and some wiring in the cavity above the screen unit. I used a piece of electrical tape over the dip switch to prevent them from being bumped. Our unit required 1, 2 and 5 on. Dismantling the dash was a little spooky but your video and tips were a major confidence booster. I absolutely love this upgrade and will not miss the clunky old navigator one little bit! I'm glad I decided to do this upgrade rather than using the simple portable type. This clean, factory looking upgrade was well worth the work. But ya, I think the 10" portable would be a good option for anyone that has serious doubts about dismantling the dash.
Hey @dchurch911, Great that it worked so well and everything is working to your satisfaction! I wouldn't want to do without it either, as it offers so many advantages over the old system. Many greetings and all the best, Peter
Hi Peter, thanks for sharing this. I have installed the same device right above the head unit, USB pulled to the bigger glove compartment, WIFI antenna sticked with 3M to the side panel at the knee level. All works well with my iPhone 7.
Hi Peter, hope all is well with yourself and the family... That's an impressive upgrade.i wasn't really thinking about upgrading the infotainment system, but after seeing this I'll have a look into available systems suitable for Android auto.. As usual, great content from yourself Cheers Tam

If anyone is interested, when I installed mine I tucked the unit behind the screen up in the dashboard, there is a void right at the very top and the unit fits nice and snug with plenty of room for the wires and the screen to go back in almost like it was made to fit.
Thank you! This was a very helpful tip. I just finished installing our Carplay box in that exact spot! I snaked the USB cable down the passenger side and just out the cover plate near the floor. We don't need it but I figured the USB access might come in handy someday. BTW, our LR4 box required the dips set to 1, 2 and 5 on. After setting them I covered that dip switch access with a piece of electrical tape to prevent them from being shifted while tucking things away.
I just finished to install on my 2013 Disco 4 HSE. It took longer to dismantle as I checked on you tube almost every step. Thanks to let us know there is that space at the top. I succeeded to pass the USC cable in the gloves compartment. there is some space but i had to enlarge a little bit. Everything works fine.
I ran the wires right below where the dash panel with the air vent connects to the vent opening in the main dash board. They you can release the glove box from the henges that stop it from opening all the way up. You can feed the wire in the the lower glove box from behind. Not sure whether that makes any sense.
Hi Peter, thanks for your channel and videos. I have bought this unit and noticed it came with a camera. It would be nice to install this as a front camera. Do you have any experience with this? If so, any ideas how to run the cable from the cabin to the engine bay? Thanks John
Hey Peter ! Thanks for another great tutorial. Could you please share one more time the link for the used Module ? It's not working on your link. Or the name of the module. Thank you in advance
Heya Peter! Super appreciate you putting this video together (made my own instal much easier). Quick question - I know you mentioned that you were able to connect your phone (iPhone) via bluetooth to the car and then to the applcarplay, so that you can still control music/spotify (forward/reverse) from the steeringwheel. Can you explain a bit more on this? When I have my phone connected to the LR4 via bluetooth and then keep the audio on bluetooth - no sound via carplay. If I switch to Aux, sound, but can't use the steering wheel controls. Any steps on this would be awesome. Also, I noticed that when pair the phone to the unit, the phone siplays the pairing code, but the unit never shows the code...I just connected it/paired it and everything else worked.
Great! I started writing a minute ago how you can do that 😄 You were faster than me! Have a good day and have fun with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All the best, Peter
@@notthatkindofachannel Ha! Well, I found another small snafu...it appears right now if you run the sound via bluetooth (to use the steering controls), for some reason the WAZE doesn't push the sound out from carplay. If i switch back to AUX, I can get sound from spotify and waze, but loose the controls. Did you encounter this at all? Also, I appear to also have the "dropping" issue of the carplay (every 5 mins or so the screen reverts back to the landrover display vs staying on carplay).
Hey, it seems that the OEM screen saver or sleep mode is activated. In the other case, I would recommend removing your phone from both systems and pairing them again. First the Land Rover then the CarPlay module. Let me know if that helps. Greetings, Peter
Thank you for video. It was helpful with my install. I have a 2015 LR4 (Discovery 4) HSE LUX. Any issues with running vehicle diagnostics on the infotainment or instrument module with the ISUDAR Wireless CarPlay installed? My Land Rover mechanic said yes it was interfering with their computer diagnostics. I was having issues with my instrument module controls on my vehicle before installing this unit. Basically the 4 direction thumb toggle control with the ok Button in the middle located on the steering wheel isn’t working and I can’t toggle any of the menu controls. Also paddle shifters don’t work, but every other control on the shearing wheel works even the starting wheel heater. I don’t want to uninstall this unit as it is a pain if I don’t have to. I got the sense that my mechanic was just being difficult. Let me know your thoughts. BTW so far the CarPlay unit works great. Thank you.
Hi Russell! No I'm sorry, I don't have problems with the module at the moment. I check the Discovery 4 almost every 2 weeks with the IID tool and have not noticed anything yet. However, some other users seem to have problems with the switches on the back of the module. I have moved them to all sorts of positions, but never received an error or anything else. So the first thing I would do is check them out. For me, all the switches are in the upper position. I don't have a quick solution to your problem with the buttons, but if you can find them cheaply on ebay etc. you could replace them with new ones. Are all the fuses intact? Maybe you can keep us up to date on what you find out about the problems with the electronics in your vehicle, that would be great! By the way, a little tip in case you haven't discovered it yet: You can use the steering wheel buttons to control Spotify, for example. To do this, simply connect the phone to the car as usual. Then you connect it to the module and the music control via the steering wheel also works. All the best, Peter
Thank you Peter I absolutely will keep you updated. I wish I could find my comments better on TH-cam. I have a hard time remembering which videos I post comments to even when I want to go back and read them 😂
Hey @Zmorin284, I have to say I didn't notice any difference until now. But that is because you'll run the module over your existing system via Bluetooth or AUX. Hope it helps! Many greetings, Peter
Hi Peter, thanks for great video. I just followed your instruction and installed the module well. I'm using Android Auto and now people telling me my voice is really small everytime I make the phone call which never happened before installing this module. Do you have any idea? and is there a way to stick with my bluetooth instead of my audio set to Aux?
Hi Peter, this looks like an upgrade I would love to do. I have a 2015 model and my screen menu looks like yours but is Meridian. Is there a system that will work with it? Thanks.
Hey Jerry! I don't know if you already watched this video but it should be the same on a Discovery 4 / LR4 => th-cam.com/video/JKsxBO3Kgcg/w-d-xo.html All the best, Peter
As usual, always informative content. It’s great to finally see a video of one of these units being installed and operating. I’ve been tossing up whether to pull the trigger on one and this might have me convinced. Do you still get all the steering wheel functionality with respect to skipping tracks, volume, calls etc?
Hey Shane, I’m sorry for the late reply! A video with a complete walk through will be online soon. In this video I’ll show what’s possible and what’s not. Best to you, Peter
Hi Jamie! It depends on which system your head unit is, Bosch or Harman. (* Harman only on newer cars and not the D4) There should be one unit for both. Whether the rest is Meridian, Harman or Harman Logic 7 doesn't matter. The Bosch system is the one you see in my video. I hope I could help you a little! Many greetings, Peter
@@cocalarusnk You are right, there is only the Bosch system for the D4, even though the latest graphics look like the Harman system for later cars. I always confuse them because they look similar at first glance
Hi Peter, thank you for this video. As I have just updated my navigation system, I'm not sure, if this will be a project for me in the next few years. But I'm curious have the system looks like in connection with Android. Do you see a chance to show this too? I would really appreciate. 😊
Hi @Thomas! I will also try to connect an Android smartphone to this system in my walkthrough video. (if the age of the Android system allows it) Which software version of the sat nav do you have now? Do you have the Bosch or the Harman system in your car? Many greetings, Peter
@@notthatkindofachannel Hi Peter, my D4 is MY2013 and runs on the Bosch system. According to the hidden menu, the navigaton version is 0BC2 and the disk version is Denso V30.20.03.
Hi Peter, thank you for the review. Ordered just the same device for my LR4. I shall keep you posted how well it works. Did you find a nice spot for the box? It looks pretty tight there. I assume that all functionality incl. CD player stayed as factory. The only thing which is gone is the factory NAV system, right? My LR4 doesn't have a NAV module installed so it should not be a problem.
Hey Egor, very cool! Yes, please do, I'd be curious to see how it works and looks for you! Unfortunately, there is very little space behind and next to the head units. I have currently placed it in the lower glove box. I have to admit, I didn't know that there are head units without a navigation system but with the Bosch system or display. Yes, the CD changer/player and the DVD player still work without any restrictions. All the best, Peter
Hi Peter, just to give you an update. Installation went well. Everything works as you described it. Found a good spot right above the headunit. Fits just fine there. USB cable put into the lower glove compartment.
Hey, you don't need an extra connection between the module and the head unit. It's enough if you plug in all the connectors correctly. After that, just switch to AUX in the menu and then - when you have connected your phone - it should work. Many greetings, Peter
Hi Peter. I have a question for you. I have a Discovery and we use the rear aux input to connect other devices e.g. an iPad for watching videos. Is it possible to use the rear aux at the same time as using Apple carplay?
Hey, I have to say that I've never tried this, but based purely on the technical possibilities, I can't imagine it working. You can only specify one source in the vehicle (Bluetooth, AUX, CD/DVD...) from where my audio should be played. Maybe it would work if you only use the Apple CarPlay in the display with no audio and the music audio comes via AUX. But I can't guarantee it ;)
Hey Peter. Is there an install for 2010 Denso set up. I am in Oz and finding it difficult to find anything. Would like to do your install but not Bosch.
Hi Peter, Are you aware of a Apple car play stereo that is compatible with the 2010 GS Monochrome display, even if it’s not one that replaces the original screen ?
Hey, I don't know of any that are compatible. However, there are alternatives that could completely replace the monochrome screen. It just depends on whether you want this or not. In my opinion, it is certainly an improvement. Many greetings, Peter
Hi Peter. I have installed the kit and it works great in my 2012 D4. One problem is that the screen goes back to main LR menu after 3-4 minutes. Is it a way to avoid ths? Thanks, Lars
Hey! The module is fixed in in the lower glove box. Behind the head unit and the CD player is no space for this. It doesn’t take a lot of room so it’s ok 😉 Regards, Peter
Hello. I have 2014 LR4 and the camera system is 360 degree. 5 cameras total. Will I lose this feature if I go to this box? Will I also retain the ability to choose Meridian and the other surround sound features?? Thanks in advance
hi peter, im have a discovery 4 2010 european model with the same screen but a other system on it i think is it possible to instal the apple carplay unit on my screen? big thanks
Hey kenzo, yes there are some systems with separate screens available but not this one which is integrated. This works only from the 2012 models with the Bosch system I am sorry! All the best, Peter
Hi Peter, I can't see any information with this unit regarding compatible Apple operating systems.. Does the information you recieved with the packaging mention compatible AppleOS. I still run an old Apple 7 which I'm concerned might not be compatible in which case I may have to bite the bullet and buy new phone as well 😞
Hey @DDWT ! My oldest iPhone that I have here for testing is an iPhone 8 with iOS 15.6.1 and it works pretty well with that. I am very sorry that I cannot give more information about compatibility. Best regards, Peter
Hey, I bought this from AliExpress. I’m sorry, this module won’t work in 2010 D4. This is only compatible with Bosch system. You would need a module for the Denso system. Best, Peter
Hey Peter, I've gone ahead and ordered this since watching your video... but, now I'm not sure if it will work with mine... I have a 2011 D4. The screen looks just like yours, but you mentioned the cut off is 2015. Should I cancel the order do you think? Cheers
Hey, if you have the Bosch system with screen shown in the video as everything is fine. (This system was available from late 2011) If you have the system installed in the model before (2009 - mid 2011) then it will not work. It should also work in 2015 models by the way. All the best, Peter

Hey, I have the Harman system. Do you have the same head unit as me, so with the same look of the menu? Because if not, unfortunately it won't work. All the best Peter
Be careful, Discovery 4 models between 2009 and mid 2011 were delivered with the Denso menu where the menu looks like this => bit.ly/3m0SpVy ! If you have this menu, the module won't work! Hope I could help you. Greetings, Peter
Hi! Yes there some modules for the D3, but mostly Android head units which don’t support the original car menu. So if you don’t need the original menus, I think you’ll be fine with them. Best to you, Peter
Does anyone have a recommendation for a system that replaces the standard small screen when the car is not equipped with navigation? Thanks in advance :)
@Fabian Wayne, I'm sorry, but right now I don't have a recommendation for such a system. Have you already installed the 7" display or only the smallest version with the buttons and the mini screen? All the best, Peter
I have just installed this unit to a Disco 4 with a Bosch unit and its not working, followed the steps and its messing the whole system up remote key not being recognised, Ac not turning on and Tyre pressure monitoring system flashing up faults. Anybody else have these issues?
Since the system or the module actually has nothing to do with all this, I assume another error. The cables cannot be confused because they are unique, except for the data cable between the head unit and the lower unit. But nothing happens here either, because I made this mistake first. To me it sounds more like a fault in a control unit or something similar. Have you already checked the fuses? Do you have a tool such as the IID tool with which you can read out or at least view errors? I only know the problems you describe when you play around too much with the GAP IID tool and change things in the body controls. (I have had this myself) All the best, Peter
I have the system working now. For anyone else installing these systems this is what happened to me. I followed the instructions on this video and another from a different youtube channel installation was very simple and only tool me 35 minutes to do. However as I mentioned above as soon as I connected everything back together I started getting warning notifications regarding tyre pressure monitoring, Air suspension and the Vehicle wouldn’t recognise the key to start, the Air conditioning wouldn’t switch on & the screen remained blank. After 4 hours of taking everything out and putting it back in again and testing at each stage the issue was clearly with the new unit regardless of what anyone else has to say. I took the new add on unit out again and on the back there are little tab switches which need to be in a specific position dependant on the model of vehicle you are installing in, id imagine this is to do with how the loom interacts with the original system, the tab switches where in the wrong position, they are a little fiddly to move so doubt I did this by mistake anyway I moves the tab switches to the correct positions as indicated on the device reinstalled the unit and bingo everything came on just as described in the video. So if anyone does have issues similar to mine double check the tab switches. To be fair I still haven’t found any feedback that says anyone has had the same issues as me so I can only imagine it was a mistake in packing from the manufacturer. Other than the unnecessary 8 hrs of messing around the system seems really good now its working and everything in this video is as described. Sorry for the long post but just wanted to let people know it works but if you have the same issues as me how I got mine working.
Thanks very much for sharing your solution! I'm sure it helps others when they have the same problem. I'll pin this post so it's easier to find. But what's interesting is that - since there's nothing described in the instructions - I tried different positions of the switches, but nothing happened... Hoper everything works as before and you'll be happy with the system! Best to you, Peter
BloxD… what positions did you put the switches in. The diagram on the back of the box makes little to no sense to me. I have no idea what the car model numbers are.
@@bloxd8759 do you have a link to the other video. that is what im looking for. I was able to take apart the dash with no problem, but it is more the hook ups, backup camera, and also when I did get it to power on im not getting an music or podcasts to play. the screen works fine. Thank you!
Hi, It appears to have `100% functionality, i was reading previous that there were issues with playing music or taking calls. I see that music is fine, what about placing and receiving calls, normal Apple Car Play functionality or does it bounce you back to the Land Rover call screen? Thanks
Hey Alden! No, I have no problems in this respect. You can continue to use everything except the original navigation system. Apple CarPlay even uses the original hands-free system of the Land Rover. All the best, Peter

Any steps on this would be awesome. Also, I noticed that when pair the phone to the unit, the phone siplays the pairing code, but the unit never shows the code...I just connected it/paired it and everything else worked.
"fixed" it. I unpaired my phone from the LR4 bluetooth. Then re-paired it to the LR4, and then entered into carplay. Works!
@@notthatkindofachannel Spot on. I had the sleep mode on. Slapped that off, and all is working perfecto.
I have a hard time remembering which videos I post comments to even when I want to go back and read them 😂
🤣 & Thanks for keeping us up to date 👍🏻
Hi Peter. Very good video, but can you tell me the name of the kit you bought? I have a 2012 so I reckon I need the same as you have?
Hey! Yes, it's the one from ISUDAR => bit.ly/3NXOva4 Think it's also linked in the description. Best, Peter
Hi there. Great video! Do you know if this solution will alter the sound quality like a head unit will?
Thanks.
Hey, do you by any chance know how to fix the arm rests on the seats. One of them broke and I’m having trouble to find a video. Thanks love the vids
Hey Jerry! I don't know if you already watched this video but it should be the same on a Discovery 4 / LR4 => th-cam.com/video/JKsxBO3Kgcg/w-d-xo.html
All the best, Peter
As usual, always informative content. It’s great to finally see a video of one of these units being installed and operating. I’ve been tossing up whether to pull the trigger on one and this might have me convinced. Do you still get all the steering wheel functionality with respect to skipping tracks, volume, calls etc?
Hey Shane, I’m sorry for the late reply! A video with a complete walk through will be online soon. In this video I’ll show what’s possible and what’s not. Best to you, Peter
@@notthatkindofachannel I am very much looking forward to it.
@@notthatkindofachannel Please do! I'd love to see a follow up. I'm interested in doing this myself.
I have a 2016 LR4 with the Meridian sound system. Live in the US. Is there an option for me?
I have not heard of a Harman system, I know that the old systems are Denso and the new ones Bosch. My 2010 D4 is Denso, same menu as at D3.
@@notthatkindofachannel I will send you some pictures of my installation once I have done it.
Hi Peter, just to give you an update. Installation went well. Everything works as you described it. Found a good spot right above the headunit. Fits just fine there. USB cable put into the lower glove compartment.
@@Ryabchenko Hey, great to hear everything worked out fine! Thanks for your reply ✌️ Hope you’re enjoying your upgraded LR4!
Hi Peter I think I got the same unit. But I don’t know how to connect aux up to it.
But I can't guarantee it ;)
So the lvds cable goes from the carplay box, plugs into the screen and the factory screen cable stays unplugged?
Hey, yes that’s right! Best to you, Peter
Hi. Considering buying this. Would you still recommend it? Does it work in the USB in the glove box if you want to wire it directly?
Hey Peter. Is there an install for 2010 Denso set up.
I am in Oz and finding it difficult to find anything. Would like to do your install but not Bosch.
Hi Peter,
Are you aware of a Apple car play stereo that is compatible with the 2010 GS Monochrome display, even if it’s not one that replaces the original screen ?
Hey, I don't know of any that are compatible. However, there are alternatives that could completely replace the monochrome screen. It just depends on whether you want this or not. In my opinion, it is certainly an improvement. Many greetings, Peter
Hi Peter. I have installed the kit and it works great in my 2012 D4. One problem is that the screen goes back to main LR menu after 3-4 minutes. Is it a way to avoid ths? Thanks, Lars
Hey, it sounds to me like the Land Rover system screen saver is on. If it is indeed on, disable it and see if the problem persists. All the best Peter
Hi Peter, how did you fix the module it self inside, did you use straps?
Hey, no everything except the original navigation system stays the same. Best regards, Peter
Do the reverse cameras still work?
like the simulated top down view?
@George Blackman yes the cameras should work like before. Greetings, Peter
@@notthatkindofachannel Thank you so much! that was my only worry for OE stuff. why get the HSE with 360 view and then make it useless

hi peter, im have a discovery 4 2010 european model with the same screen but a other system on it i think is it possible to instal the apple carplay unit on my screen? big thanks
Hey kenzo, yes there are some systems with separate screens available but not this one which is integrated. This works only from the 2012 models with the Bosch system I am sorry! All the best, Peter
Does this unit update the CarPlay software? I mean from time to time, if there’s any ios update.
I couldn't remember an update, so I don't think so. But the possibility exists within the system.

Would this unit work with the Denso screen?
Hey 👋🏻, no I’m sorry this only works with the Bosch or Harman & Kardon system. Best regards, Peter
Where did you buy it? Wil it work in a Disco 4 2010?
Hey, I bought this from AliExpress. I’m sorry, this module won’t work in 2010 D4. This is only compatible with Bosch system. You would need a module for the Denso system. Best, Peter
Do you know if this would work in a Range rover sport 2012/13 ?
Yes, there are also suitable modules for these. The module is almost always the same, but the connection cables differ. Greetings, Peter

@Fabian Wayne, I'm sorry, but right now I don't have a recommendation for such a system. Have you already installed the 7" display or only the smallest version with the buttons and the mini screen? All the best, Peter
@@notthatkindofachannel Actually only the really tiny one. Right now pairing with telephone doesn't even work which makes the pain even worse :P
Hero!
(I have had this myself)
All the best, Peter
