  • In this video me, with the help of my brother, are trying to 3D print the worlds most overstable disc golf disc. Tomas Ekström was very kind to design this disc that the world has never seen before - thank you, sir! 😀
Was a lot of fun making this video. I hope you enjoy it! ❤🤘

Hey! Note that the disc is not flat so if printed upside down the support would have lead to poor surface quality 😀. Hope you enjoy the video.

Hello from Louisiana! I love disc golf and 3d printing, i actually just got my own prusa :) i’ve been very curious to see how discs fly if they are printed in TPU? i’m a product design major and have been coming up with a few of my own “molds” (STL’s) and this video is just awesome in all the right ways :) i’d love to see latitude put out some of their molds as STL’s for players to mess with as well as maybe some vids messing with different print materials! much love and thanks for the always awesome content :)

Next time try printing the disc on its edge at a 45 degree angle! The surface finish is surprisingly good plus you can also fit a 1:1 scale

I did something similar a couple weeks back. I did not design the disc, but printed Thing 4057615 off of Thingiverse and it is the most overstable disc anyone in my disc golf club at my college has laid their hands on. It looks a little similar to a Tilt, but literally flips sideways into a roller after releasing it on flat within 100 ft. It is absolutely crazy and not really playable on the course. It is not for bagging, but bragging. Super cool that you guys made a video on the same kind of thing, it was entertaining as always to watch. Keep it up! It was also really cool how you explained how the shape directly influences the flight of the disc.

On another note. I have thought a lot about the dimples on a golf ball and wondered if incorporating dimples on the disc would change the flight and how much. Back to the 3D printer I say!

We have 3D printed a disc on a larger print bed, it was considered similar to the tilt. We printed it upside-down, and it required a little bit of trimming but was not bad. One issue with the disc was that it was so extremely light, it was actually hard to control and I completely understand why she threw it sideways, because a disc that light does not pull out of your fingers. I am curious what the end weight of your disc was? Ours was roughly 100 grams. We want to try it again but instead of PLA we will use ABS plastic for better durability, and probably paint it a neon color because a black disc is far to easy to lose (which we did, in southern Ohio).
