- Incredible medieval architecture, history, culture, food and stunning nature trails, a bustling university population... Maastricht has it all! Located in the southeastern region of the Netherlands, it has a very unique culture of its own - for example, alongside Dutch, many locals also speak the Maastrichtian dialect which I think is really cool!
Maastricht is super easy to get to from Amsterdam (3 hours by train) and is perfect for a weekend getaway option :)
OUR 3 DAY ITINERARY
⊹ DAY 1: Sint-Servaasbrug bridge, Boekhandel Dominicanen, Basilica of St. Servatius, Vrijthof, Stadspark (City Park)
⊹ DAY 2: Fort Sint Pieter, Jekerdal, Lichtenberg ruins, half-day trip to Valkenburg
⊹ DAY 3: Sint Pieterberg, Hoeve Lichtenberg, exploring Wyck area, Helpoort

Hey there! No, you don’t need to pass the civic integration test unless you want a Dutch permanent residence permit. If you’re coming as a highly skilled migrant/partner of, then it means you can stay here without doing the test for at least the first few years (I can’t remember how many though!).
