Animation is great, it just needed a better story. Movie probably would have done better if had used recognizable bad guys from cartoons or video games, even if you leave out Shredder.
Well, there is Batman vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that was recently released and it was pretty good and there's a upcoming animated movie based on Rise of the TMNT to premiere on Netflix like the last two Nickelodeon specials. But yeah, I would Love a animated film set in the IDW Publishing TMNT series so I can cheer happy just on the fact that Alopex the mutant arctic fox appeared in it! She's my Waifu at the moment.
I wouldn't have seen this movie had it not been for my friend's birthday on the premiere weekend. I was never that into the Turtles, but being in that theatre with a ton of fans that grew up on the original cartoon made the experience very memorable for me. Being a kid and seeing a bunch of 20-somethings wearing the masks and cheering like crazy when each turtle came on screen for the first time was awesome. So my opinion of the movie has always been pretty positive and wondered why there was never a sequel. ...And now I know that that Astroboy movie was the studio's second release and now it aaaaallllll makes sense.
My only memory of that Astro Boy movie involved futilely trying to not hear Nicolas Cage's voice coming out of a character that was clearly not Nicolas Cage.
EarthHound he didn’t bashed them for having character development it’s more for having development that comes out of nowhere since this movie was supposed to connect to the first live action movie but turtles in that movie were a bit more silly while still having nice quiet serious moments like the fire scene. Here though they’re development doesn’t really add up with Leo going across the world, Ralph going Batman, and Donnie and Mikey getting jobs which doesn’t make sense unless they have bill now?
Well, the Astro Boy movie sucked bollocks, but I agree that Imagi still had potential. They were also making an original movie called "Cat Tale" about a cat that is adopted by dogs then he goes on an adventure in "Catopolis" to find out who he is. This never-released movie by Imagi looked very interesting. I think Astro Boy deserved it's failure, only on the opinion that the movie is bad. On the other side, Astro Boy is the movie that killed Imagi due to it's failure. Imagi was a studio that had potential to actually make good movies (even a *FREAKING ZELDA THEATRICAL MOVIE* ) after that blunder that was Astro Boy.
GaiaX5 What are you talking about? I’m referring to Nintendo’s decision on the new Mario movie being produced & handled by Illuminations Entertainment, you know, that *one* budget studio that cuts many corners to the point where their films are dull.
@@carbonfibre_ Yep. James is Leo and Mikey (R&C1 Ratchet) is....Mikey. No wonder why the story's writer went on to the R&C movie. (Well that and Sony's film division being crap of course)

Can we talk about how well cast the turtles are in this movie? Seriously, the voice-actors both sound and behave *perfectly* for their respective turtles. I definitely wouldn't have minded if I saw them again in another Ninja Turtles project.
Yeah I mean honestly that's the only thing I remember about the movie and I remember it being good, so maybe they should've kept that as the main plot, huh?

James Arnold Taylor talks about this movie in a recent episode of his podcast. He says that Eastman was the one who kept the Turtles’ voice actors from being replaced by big-name celebrities. He also mentions that the tone of the film was more lighthearted, initially.
I think the idea of the monsters all being in New York is that they were drawn to the next alignment which was about to happen there. there's even a moment when Winters says that "he has some friends that are coming over". hinting that they were probably scattered all around the world beforehand. also, the Winters reveal was pretty solid because prior to that the audience thought that he wants to collect the monsters to free his generals and continue his conquest. I personally really like this movie! probably my second favorite after the original. we have so much Disney/Pixar animated movies nowadays and they all kinda feel the same to me. rewatching this movie recently was so refreshing!

Yeah, 2007 and 2008 were some of the best years of my life. The games, movies and music during that time were really something special, and given the chance to live it all again, I would take it, no questions asked.
@Brandon Spain Maybe, but I'd say it was more focused on reboots if anything, like what Rebel Taxi said. It was a golden age though, no questions asked. 2009 probably had a lot more sequels, but I could be wrong.

Maybe if IMAGI followed up on their TMNT movie with something based on a less-obscure property (the only other Astro Boy stuff you could find in 2009 was the 2003 anime), then maybe they wouldn't have gone under. In my personal opinion, the Zelda stuff looked dope, so that would have been a good direction to go.
I loved TMNT and Astro Boy as a kid, and they hold up even still to this day. It's really a shame Imagi never got the chance to show us what they were truly capable of. I honestly loved this iteration as it was giving something new and unique to my child mind. I still respected it to this day and literally had no idea sequels where planed thinking it was a one stand alone film. I always wondered what happened to this movie. I remember when I was younger I could tell it was setting things up to have a sequel movie, but then it just never happened and every now and then when the turtles are brought up I think whatever happened with this movie.
I loved TMNT 2007 right after teenage mutant ninja turtles (2003) series, it was my childhood! Just picked up the blu-ray! 🔥
Got to say, I absolutely love this intro you have in your videos lately.
Same. Do you know what song plays in his intro?
Then I’m probably nobody, because I used to watch this movie a lot when I was a kid and was my favourite movie at the time.
I feel like Ive heard of this before and at the same time, I havent.
I thought I was the only one that remembered this film! I loved it as a kid! I actually remember seeing this in cinemas!
I heard that Barenaked Ladies, Pan.
Damn good film and severely underrated! The characters, story, and action are all good-great. I loved how the turtles looked and the voice actors we’re great choices, my favorite being James Arnold Taylor as Leo. I wish there was a sequel for it but at least we got a okay game tie in
That fight with Leo and Ralph was still epic.
I am glad to see other people liked the movie as well. Honestly I didn't know critics didn't like it. This movie definitely deserved better.
8:30 That is the most cursed translation error I’ve ever heard of...
That's awful
Now that's a biocurse
7:19 I know, so disturbing
I remember watching this and honestly enjoying it as a kid. I also have fond memories of playing the tie in game of the this movie on my ps2
I loved Imagi's TMNT and Astro Boy movies. It sucks that they're no more now, I'd kill to see a Zelda film.
This is honestly my favorite TMNT movie of all time. I just loved the dynamic Leo and Raph have in the movie.
I honestly loved this iteration as it was giving something new and unique to my child mind. I still respected it to this day and literally had no idea sequels where planed thinking it was a one stand alone film.
I honestly wished we got a chance to see that darker sequel because seeing Mikey go from good to evil would have been an amazing transformation and a real conflict between the brothers.
Those Zelda, Gatchaman, and Astro Boy Character designs are pretty rough though, I do like they tried focusing more on action like you said.
Michael Cole was in this movie?
IT'S TURTLE TIME!!!
Maggle
"HERE COMES THE -BIG DOG- TURTLE!"
He wasn't.
Oh my!
I remember 10 year old me being so hyped for this since the 2003 cartoon was my favorite Saturday morning cartoon and it didn't disappoint, I've watched it many times since then and it's still a good movie to me.
Lol finally found out what to call what I nostalgia I got from my mom. I was raised like a early 2000's kid even though I was born in 2002, I didint get a xbox 360 until 2013, so second hand nostolgia is a thing too, I also had a snes for a bit along with a gamecube.
this movie scared the shit out of me when i was younger, probably bc it looked darker than content i was used to at the time lol
Honestly I loved this movie and it’s my favourite version of the turtles, second only to the 2003 cartoon
Right?? I thought it was really well done.
This movie was my childhood, and I'm glad that it's on Netflix, it just sucks that it's SO underrated.
Why does Splinter look like Chester the Cheetah?
Why would you ask that?
No offense. Sorry.
if they took 2012 story (without the Jones, Don, April love triangle) and mixed with 2007 films style I would be 100% onboard
Anyone hearing him say "Ralph" and not "Raph?"
I thought I was crazy, I heard it too.
100% sure he's saying Ralph.
Ralphie-el Son of Krypton?
