I will always remind everyone, that seeing as Treasure Island is one of my favourite books of all time, the muppet version is one of the closest to the book there is. Same with Muppet Christmas Carol
Hans Zimmer is one of the greatest composers of all time! And ever since I first saw this movie as a kid, Tim Curry has always been and always will be the face of Long John Silver to me. He played him so well and nailed the humorous, dark, and adventurous sides of the character!

I could have been in politics 'cause I've always been a big spender
[BLACK-EYED PETE]
(Spoken)
And me, I could've been a contender
[LONG JOHN]
Some say that pirates steal and should be feared and hated
I say we're victims of bad press that's all exaggerated
We never stab you in the back, we never lie or cheat
We're just, in fact, the nicest guy you ever want to meet
(Spoken)
Tell the truth, lad. Do you really think the Captain and the Squire are planning to share the treasure with the likes of us? And we being the rightful owners, who shed our blood getting it here. Join us lad. Donate your compass to the treasure hunt and get a full share!
[LONG JONG and PIRATES]
Hey ho ho!
It's one for all for one
And we'll share and share alike with you
And love you like a son
We're gentlemen of fortune and that's what we're bound to be
And when you're a professional pirate-
[LONG JOHN]
You'll be honest, brave, and free!
The soul of decency!
You'll be loyal and fair and on the square
But most importantly,-
[LONG JONG and PIRATES]
-when you're a professional pirate
You are always in the best of company!
"Now THAT sounds like an informed opinion.."
They put this song in the Marvelous Mrs Maisel. It's amazing! Hej ho ho
I would 100% join the Pirates if they sung this for me
They just don't make 'em like this anymore!
They virtually *never* make *musicals* like this. Honestly, if there were more in this vein, I might not be so utterly indifferent about the genre.
I will always remind everyone, that seeing as Treasure Island is one of my favourite books of all time, the muppet version is one of the closest to the book there is. Same with Muppet Christmas Carol
Someone else here in 2022😁
How so?
Hans Zimmer is one of the greatest composers of all time! And ever since I first saw this movie as a kid, Tim Curry has always been and always will be the face of Long John Silver to me. He played him so well and nailed the humorous, dark, and adventurous sides of the character!
Here because of Mrs. Maisel❤❤. god im gonna miss that show!! 😢
SAME
Film music doesn't get much better than this.
It's pretty much all a pack of lies...but you got to admit, he's got charisma.
Oh, but it's the way he tells them!
Oh my God I'm now a University graduate and this song, once just a happy little sing-a-long to one of my favourite childhood films, has gotten all a bit too real...
Best Recruitment pitch ever. Sign me up for Tim Curry's pirate crew!
Oh, I love it! Tis poetry in motion!
I love that song! Tim Curry plays really good as Long John Silver.
The original "You are a Pirate" song
+TheYoyocandy where the hell is the Alestorm cover
Any villain played by Tim Curry is AWESOME.
Long John is the most entertaining kind of psychopath.
What an absolute masterpiece, legendary!
Clueless Morgan is my all time favorite Pirate, closely followed by Angel Marie and Big-Fat-Ugly-Bug-Faced-Baby Eating O'Brian just because of their names
I love how you can tell that Tim Curry is having the time of his goddamn life in this whole movie.
“Upstage, Lads….This is my only number” 😂😂 it’s so meta for the parents
Haven't seen this film in nearly twenty years. This song brings back so many happy memories
" this is my only number " oh wait tim i think you forgot you were in sailing for adventure
Tim Curry, one of the only few people capable of upstaging the muppets. That's an impressive feat!
I don't always listen to professional pirates but when I do its 10+ times on a loop *chef kiss *
Legend, goddamn bloody legend!
He still does voice work despite being Handycapped.
to think a muppet film could give me chills
This song gives me goosebumps. It's preformed with such fun and passion!
Pirates of the Caribbean would have been a lot different if only Davy Jones had counted to ten before losing his temper
Playing Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag to this lol
Drinking rum, while playing Black Flag to this song :D
UDNightmareOfficial Black Flag just got put on Free Games for Gold this month. I'll be listening to this non stop now
Yo I know this comment is 3 years old but I was going to say that back then I was doing the same thing with Shiver My Timbers! :D
Playing all pirate games to this, this and "Pirate or Parrot?" :)
Playing assassins creed odyssey to it lol.
When I get Assassin's Creed 4, I'm going to have this soundtrack on loop
Stealing a brig as a professional pirate.
Tim Curry is a living God
My favorite song of the movie, next to Shiver My Timbers.
JDMod789 Mine 2
"We're just about the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet"
YOU'RE SINGING TO HIM AFTER KIDNAPPED HIM, TIM CURRY 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Everyone always goes on about Dr. Frank N’ Furter and Pennywise but my favourite Tim performance will always be Long John :)
Always love this song
"Upstage, Lads, this is my only number!"
I know, and it's a real shame too. Good thing you're in a bunch of other musicals.
Hands Down the best Marine Corps recruiter - Tim Curry 😂😂😂
Best song in the whole movie!
This is why Muppet Treasure Island is my favourite muppet movie.
It's the only one that shows someone dying and it makes the villains so lovable, you're almost rooting for them!
If Tim Curry asked me to join his pirate crew and sang that song I would say "were do I sign up captain"
I had never seen the movie before, but after stumbling upon this song I just went out and got the movie. Watched it yesterday and its really an awesome movie!
the one song that makes everyone want to be a pirate
*YOU'RE ALWAYS IN THE BEST OF COM-PA-NYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!*
By the way, that Silver fellow may not be entirely trustworthy.
lordjimbo2 Ha Ha! Now he tells us!
Jim! Jimmy Jim Jimmy Jim Jim Jim Jim!
Man alive! Damn fine tune
Tim Curry is essentially a Muppet in human form.
I can definitely imagine Luffy and the Straw Hats singing this to a new recruit
For me this could be a theme song for the Blackbeard pirates
Out of all the muppet movies, this one had the best soundtrack!
Still listening December 2020
Favorite Muppet movie ever...there is so man Muppet movies but this one is my absolute FAVORITE!!!❤❤❤
the soundtrack goes hard wait a second
hans zimmer chill out man
This song is gold so mamy memories of this movie flooded in i am so happy i found this I looked up cause I felt like tim curry with crutches lol
yo ho yo ho
In my opinion, Tim Curry MADE this movie. The Muppets were just extra.
When I was just a lad looking for my true vocation
My father said "Now son, this choice deserves deliberation
Though you could be a doctor or perhaps a financier
My boy why not consider a more challenging career
Hey ho ho
(Ha Ha Ha)
You'll cruise to foreign shores
(Sing it lads! show him youve been practicing)
And you'll keep your mind and body sound
By working out of doors
True friendship and adventure are what we can't live without
And when you're a professional pirate
That's what the job's about
(Upstage, lads, this is my ONLY number!)
Now take Sir Francis Drake, the Spanish all despise him
But to the British he's a hero and they idolize him
It's how you look at buccaneers that makes them bad or good
And I see us as members of a noble brotherhood
Hey ho ho
(Oh I love it tis poetry in motion)
We're honorable men
And before we lose our tempers we will always count to ten
On occasion there may be someone you have to execute
But when your a professional pirate
You don't have to wear a suit, what?
I could have been a surgeon
I like taking things apart
I could have been a lawyer
But I just had too much heart
I could have been in politics
'Cause I've always been a big spender
And me
I could have been a contender
Some say that pirates steal and should be feared and hated
I say we're victims of bad press it's all exaggerated
We'd never stab you in the back, we'd never lie or cheat
We're just about the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet
