One guy at a subsidiary got his hands on 4 cards and scalped em on ebay.
Everyone: OMG MSI IS A GARBAGE COMPANY HOW COULD YOU RELEASE A SPONSORED VIDEO HOW MUCH DID THEY PAY YOU?!?!?!
That be the way of internet outrage.
To be clear, it was a bad look, and I called it out as such.
It just wasn't an organized and ongoing effort the way people are making it out to be.
They're still responsible for the actions (or lack of actions) that led to the situation occurring but they already refunded the diff to everyone who bought one and apologized. I guess taking accountability isn't worth anything these days? I prefer the approach they took to a lot of other organizations and individuals. Everyone makes mistakes. - LS

What a great idea to push air down from the top, through the hot radiator, and into the case. Great engineering, MSI.
LoL
Anyone who did reading on the case, including the MSI prebuilt in this case, reverses the fans. Silly marketing people didn't want the silhouette of the fan frame work. Looks fine.
Right.
Running air into a case though a radiator does not have to be an issue at all.
I have a setup with an Arctic 280 and Intel 14900K. Tests in CB 2024 at 2214 at 83C. It pulls a ton of air in through that rad which is heated up. There's more going on here that pulling air though a rad.
its a shame that case didnt have great airflow, its a really nice looking case in my opinion

MSI should just start including a hammer with their glass paneled cases to help with air flow.
maybe they just expected linus to knock it over and take care of that issue ahead of time.
Or stop putting solid panels in the wrong places.
@@jody024 Honestly, the front side of PCs have been pretty flippin' solid since the 80's. Harkens back to a time when airflow didn't _quite_ matter as much. Not that it's the right way to do it, but that glass piece should be replaceable with mesh at the very least. WOuld make the case te times better but then how can they get suckers to buy a second revision with most of what's wrong done right?
I love how this sponsored build is just you complaining about it then remembering you're being paid to do it then switching the complaints to feedback about how it could be better
So crazy! I wanted to build an all MSI desktop and bought every part you used in the video except for GPU of course (out of stock), had to go with EVGA 3070 . Easy to open case to cool it down every once in a while. Hahah
MSI: Let's put a giant fan in the front of our case to increase airflow
Stoned MSI engineer: And we'll choke it off with a glass panel!
True engineer: 🤦♂️
Exactly. :)
No its quite the opposite
True engineer would have suggested for the better airflow and MSI would just say aesthetics sell more.
member inwin and their griffin case with the 280mm fan on the side... looking at that old case it seems bloody revolutionary lol
engineers balance the world by simultaneously coming up with a solution and creating a problem.
all tempered glass cases have poor airflow, raises the temp of cpu by 10Cs when the panel is closed, tested many times on all my clients builds
I love that Linus always references Steve from Gamer's Nexus when anything about case airflow becomes a concern. It shows respect to the knowledge and content that Gamer's Nexus puts out.

Surprised MSI let you at all reference Steve in this piece after his Killshot video.
But in the end he had to admit that the case is indeed very badly ventilated, specially for that much computing horsepower (set the intel -blowtorch- processor apart, please 😂) inside it.
The "killshot" video is a tad bit overblown, as it's generally a case of a few bad apples rather than the entire company.
It's still not great, obviously, but it's also a gross oversimplification to write off an entire billion dollar company like MSI, with its tens of thousands of employees, all due to some mismanagement from a handful of people in their PR department.
They don't approve their scripts for sponsor videos just what content they wanna make to get the sponsor.

Oh yeah, but if rumours are more than that any company from garage-style startup to multibillion-dollar ones can and *will sink.* It's not only a matter of mismanagement from a bunch of people, tech companies must have a R&D department with enough budget and mindset for it, trial and error - corporate science. But to leave things tied to the 'guts' of a bunch of marketing folks and let them mislead all of the rest to commercial oblivion...
Hey Linus, would really love to see videos on hardware reliability, like doing a stress test to different hardware for prolonged time to see what components would start to fail. "Let's talk about this case's airflow or rather the lack of."
At 8.18 you say that the fans at the top blowing air down
on the MSI website you can read the following under airflow: Two 200mm fans aligned vertically on the front to draw in air evenly across the entire face of the enclosure. That will contribute to positive air pressure within the case, THE RISING WARM AIR WILL ALWAYS BE EXHAUSTED WITH THE REAR AND TOP AIRFLOW from the MPG SEKIRA 500X.
*To guide the airflow from the radiator, please evaluate and adjust the airflow direction of the top fan when installing the radiator.
The fans in the top work as exhaust and not as intake.

@@NameName-eq7oe close... it’s matching the shutter speed
Had to remove my like so it would stay at 69
@@NameName-eq7oe I don't think its due to the camera shutter because 1. you can clearly make out the MSI-Logo in the center, which makes it much more unlikely to sync up with the camera and 2. there is pretty much no motion blur on the fan, even though on other parts of the scene (especially the monitor) there is significant motion blur.
I think its more likely to be related to the fan splitting and daisy chaining and maybe the reason why Linus did another test run right after.
Never change the spelling. It’s funny enough to me
To everyone who is pointing out the recent controversy, this will have likely been planned for a month. And he even pointed in out on WAN show.
Who cares even if it wouldnt be? You should be happy Linus is making bank off MSI then by doing sponsored content and putting those MSIs ill-gained dollars for better use: LMG staffs salaries :)
What recent controversy?
@@sol_in.victus an msi subsidiary starlit systems was caught scalping rtx 3080 and 3090 cards selling them for way more than msrp

As an Australian, Linus not killing the spider "because they are our friends" makes me like him even more.
oh cool the case comes with the brace thing the verge told me to hammer in
4:10 bro I died, as soon as I saw the solid front I couldn’t help but think “what would Steve have to say about this”
Solid front, solid up panel, solid sides... that case is everything, but not airflow enabling.
Speaking of things that aged terribly... our sponsor, MSI!
Also, I understand that this video was planned before the scalping incident. It was not planned before the TECHTEAMGB incident though.
2nd edit: The price of that case is an absolute joke.
Side note: Linus had to return this card so MSI could scalp it afterwards lol

Just recently did an all MSI build myself with a 3080TI Gaming X trio, MPG Z690 Carbon wifi Ek X Motherboard, and Intel's 12th gen 12900k CPU with this exact same case I chucked that sucker to the bin almost immediately it went and bought a thermaltake Tower 900 thr thing was getting so damn hot you could almost cook an egg on top of it.
i love your pc build

If you look closely it's just synced to the camera's fps as it "spins" slowly when the camera is moving.
@@Annozocker15 no im pretty sure it's getting too low of a current to spin properly

me : oh it's a pump
linus : oh how nice they have a gigantic temp probe in the rad
Linus should get a mini smoke machine to test Airflow.
i have that case and heres a pro tip flip the top fans so they push air out
