I have the same setup with my ps1, the gray color sd card mount. Just think if we painted the microsd and sd adapter gray. It would be completely invisible unless you really looked closely at it. Can't wait for the 1TB cards to drop down in price, hello NTSC-U, PAL and NTSC-J. Has anyone ever used a massive ps1 memory card? I have a 96 page 1440 save games card. Only figured out how to work it last year and I've had that card for about two decades. It can only change pages in the ps1 memory card manager with the following: Hold L1, R1 and Start together and a red dot should show on the card. If the dot appears release L1 and R1 while still holding Start, then press L1 or R1 to move the pages left or right (backwards or forward) iirc it can be held down to advance much faster down the pages. Release the buttons to select the page and it will start a countdown timer to prepare navigation of the next data page. Once that is completed the new page should be displayed on the led window. Cheers!
Now you got me looking for grey paint... and hold up. WHAT ABOUT THIS MEMORY CARD??? can you link me google image of it or tell me its exact name so I can buy one LOL
@@RETROGAMINGARTS sure thing: www.amazon.com/PSX-Playstation-Memory-Card-PS1-PS2/dp/B00000K4YJ ebay occasionally has those too i believe there is also a 720 save version. Anything that fails gets marked at the top of the list and will be retried with a standard 15 block card eventually. Gonna eventually purchase two more of those 1440 cards for my brother and sister. Then I'll get two more xstations and three hdmi kits, as well as completely recap the power supply and motherboards. It'll be the ps1 that might outlive us and end up in a museum. ;-)
Your audio sounds clear man. Was your editing process "smoother?" Cause I know sometimes that can be tedious. Also that's sick on the ps1. I still use my psp for ps1 games. But some games like mutant academy 2 don't work on a modded psp for some reason, so having the original hardware might work better
Does it? Good im glad, the changes didn't so much help speed up the editing process. They helped with the setup process, I always had to change settings and plug in the mic for every video. Now I can just leave it on the way its setup and it will always sound good, and yea. Psp works great for ps1 games. I love it, I didn't know that about mutant academy
@@RETROGAMINGARTS well I'm glad you back to being able to make stuff. And yeah it was a game I had when I was younger and enjoyed playing the crap out of it. It was a disappointment when it didn't work when I modded my psp
Although I haven't touched my PSP in a long time so I don't know if this is still helpful, but... The PSP's PS1 emulation software used to change from Firmware to Firmware, breaking or fixing compatibility with certain user made eboots. There used to be a plugin called PopsLoader which allowed you to extract the PS1 emulator from different Firmware installation files and then choose different emulators when booting a PS1 game on PSP. You might get your game to work by trying a different Firmware's PS1 emulator.
Thank you so much, flux is key, I don't have skills I just use alot of flux and it does the work for me, but if you wanna see some really crazy soldering, check out my gamecube xeno video or any of my ps2 modchip installs. Thank you for watching this one too
Locally people used to call me "The Chipper" as I chipped countless amounts of these back in the day. I had a lad come to my home to have his console chipped, I pulled out my mig welder, the look of horror on his face was priceless....lol... the good old days...
So I have some questions regarding this device. 1. What's the largest size of SD Card this device supports? 2. How does it handle multi-disc games? Would it automatically find the next disc and load it in for you or would you have to manually do something? 3. Does this let you play games from outside your region or would that require a separate mod? 4. How well do the games, especially their FMVs, actually run, are they choppy?
Thanks for finding me kale, I appreciate it. This soldering is nothing compared to some of my ps2 vids or most recent video. Check a few more out and let me know what you think
yea, the mini PSOne is super cool and compact, i belive someone figured out how to use the PSIO with the PSOne, the PSIO was very similar product to this
Very cool video. Need to do this to my two PU18s. They work fine now. But those lasers won't last forever. It seems this upgrade also acts as a modchip, right? Oh btw it is INCREDIBLY ironic to see a Samsung memory card going into a PS1. This console dates back to the era when Samsung effectively declared war on Sony and vowed to drive them out of the consumer electronics business, which they largely did except for the PlayStation and a handful of other things. That Samsung SD card is like planting an enemy flag right in Sony's eye. I love it. No hate people. They're just competitive companies and we consumers benefit when they slug it out to make the best stuff. Even now, Samsung uses Sony cameras in their smartphones, because they are the best in the world. Both companies lift each other higher.
Little bit squeamish watching this: you should heat the solder, not the pad and you use the tip, not the rim and you never EVER wipe against the board -- you use less solder than you think you need and you always let the surface-tension do the work for you! I'm gonna assume the camera was giving you trouble/in the way while you were working - that's not a condition I've ever had to work under, so I don't envy you. Excellent use of flux tho. More is better and it totally compensates any risk this technique has on the board. Good stuff. Good video and great tutorial though. Subscribed.
This one i would say is very easy, in comparison to other mods out there. However I wouldn't start with this mod if I was just starting out. I'd call it, intermediate
I remember the first time I saw a PS1. Its loading times were so absurd that instead of staying to play I decided to go outside. Hopefully games on an SD card load decently
Hey thanks for the video. I e been modding consoles for a while and have struggled to find anything to load games to the ps1. I just happened to see a pre modded ps1 for sale so I googled it and your video was the first one to pop up and i an more than adequate for explaining the install. I just have to find the hardware for the mod now which I believe you referenced a site. On a side note the install looked alot cleaner and easier than the right points on a 360. I feel like that's mainly because the quicksolder qsb is so nice but either way this is a cool mod. I guess I shouldn't be so excited considering my 360 has hdmi stock and can load every playstation iso but the original playstation holds some dear memories from my childhood and it would be super cool to have one sitting on the tv stand with virtually every game. Thanks again for the video. I'm going to check out your other stuff shortly!

It can only change pages in the ps1 memory card manager with the following:
Hold L1, R1 and Start together and a red dot should show on the card.
Be advised some games don't like saving to this card.
I'm in the process of creating an alphabetical list of game saves for all the ntsc games. I'm currently on page 22 of 96.
It'll be the ps1 that might outlive us and end up in a museum. ;-)
Awesome video man
Yooo my man, thanks yo!
What kind of awg cable you use and what temp should the solder iron be for this project
26 awg stranded, 350 Celsius
@@RETROGAMINGARTS Thanks a million my friend. I'm gonna try to install one myself :)
You might get your game to work by trying a different Firmware's PS1 emulator.
no sound starup? no nostalgia
I'm pretty sure it's their he just went over the video sound with the dictation
Amazing video your the best when it come's to modding video game's keep it up !!
I got some tricks up my sleeve for the next few mods too
Cant wait 😍😍
Interesting!! But honestly i will miss the noise of the lens moving

Good vid! The soldering flowed into place like water... You made it look so easy that I want to try (with no soldering skills, haha)
Thank you so much, flux is key, I don't have skills I just use alot of flux and it does the work for me, but if you wanna see some really crazy soldering, check out my gamecube xeno video or any of my ps2 modchip installs. Thank you for watching this one too
@@RETROGAMINGARTS I'll check out those vids, now I'm interested!
Flux , flux, and Flux again.
I wish some hacks would come out for the PSone...

Awesome install. Would be nice feature to have thumbnails for the games list. Makes finding your game more easily.
thanks alot man, yea that would be a cool feature
you should see what i did to this ps1... i went crazy, my most recent video is this same ps1 just a bunch more mods added
Locally people used to call me "The Chipper" as I chipped countless amounts of these back in the day. I had a lad come to my home to have his console chipped, I pulled out my mig welder, the look of horror on his face was priceless....lol... the good old days...
🤣🤣
This is sick. Great video. Clear and understandable instructions. You got a sub from me, guy dude bro person.
Thanks man, I appreciate that so much. I'm glad you liked it, I do alot of videos like this, new video coming soon on the ps2

Congratulations!!! You are a genius🙌🙌🙌
Thanks man lol. Thank you for watching this, and thanks for checking out my channel
If I had this it would never work right for me.
I can't make technology work anymore. Since XP days nothing works off the start and always requires hours of web searching for anything.
Not true, I know that feeling

I really thought it was just me. And Linux isn't much better. Pretty login screens are nice, but I need my drivers, bro.
This is cool and easy upgrade, very good job! Subscribed, hello from Russia :)
But how am i gonna play my music cds now? 😔
on a ps1 scph1000, because it has the best audio encoder ;-)
i think you can transfer music in format iso and load them with vib ribon
@Bro Den it should, it's an ODE. Worth a try though.
I like yellow on black combo. So simple but it works so well together.
Thank you, glad you enjoyes
does this void your warranty? LOL!!

dammm thats insanely easy! im going to make this for sure! this is awesome
Great! Good, im glad, this mod is so good, been playing it past few days ita awesome
💯👍💯
So I have some questions regarding this device.
1. What's the largest size of SD Card this device supports?
2. How does it handle multi-disc games? Would it automatically find the next disc and load it in for you or would you have to manually do something?
3. Does this let you play games from outside your region or would that require a separate mod?
4. How well do the games, especially their FMVs, actually run, are they choppy?
HERMOSO!
First time I've watched one of your videos, but that is some satisfying soldering my bro!
Thanks for finding me kale, I appreciate it. This soldering is nothing compared to some of my ps2 vids or most recent video. Check a few more out and let me know what you think
Persona 2 music?
YOOOO YESSSS!!
i'm playing persona 5 right now, i'm almost at the end and very close to beating it, so i was feeling some persona music today for this video

I wish it would work with the PSOne. I've got four of those.
yea, the mini PSOne is super cool and compact, i belive someone figured out how to use the PSIO with the PSOne, the PSIO was very similar product to this
So satisfying watching those soldering joints 😎

Very Nice. Good job
Dude, awesome job!!!
Very good exelent
Subscribed.
That looks sweet bro
Thanks Adam, I got 3 more mods i did on this ps1 to make videos about
@@RETROGAMINGARTS
Is it a difficult mod? Cause u make it look easy.
They do actually, they still have to load, but since it's not reading the info from a disc, it happens much faster
Hey, buddy, that accessory is compatible with the Playstation 1 slim, right? greetings
Posdata where can I get that accessory for the Playstation 1 slim friend?
it doesnt work for the PSone the mini, just original
Enjoyed your upload nice one man im gonna subscribe
That's actually pretty nifty. Does this mod make game load faster? Any overall improvement?
It does, loading times are quicker for sure, if you wanna see this same ps1 with 4 more mods and a better demonstration check my most recent video😀

For the pins you decoupled from the board, should they be removed from the chip entirely? Also, what tip do you recommend using for the Hakko FX888 and at what temperature?
I don't remove entirely, Incase you have to put back for trouble shooting,
I use either a conical or a k series tip at 325-350c depending on the job

Wonderful video. Thanks! The BGM is awesome as well! Is that from an official game? Who’s the artist?
It's from Persona 2 Innocent Sin!
First song is Yukino's theme, second song is the PSP Version's main menu theme, third is the overworld theme, the fourth sounds like the torifune theme (someone can correct me), and the fifth eludes me.
