    hello. Great video. I have the same unit. I attempted this repair because the battery wasn't charging. Once I got the unit open, I decided to check the voltage at the battery terminals with the battery removed and the unit pluged in. I read almost 13 volts accross the terminals. I figured the unit was working but that the LED lite was not. I put it back together and bought a new battery to replace the original 6 yr old one. After replacing the battery, I was still not charging. I also discovered that the LED would come on if plugged in and the jump switch was turned on. So the LED works but not when plugged in as it should for a charge. Do you think the board is bad? Hate to abandon this unit.

      @@LawrencePina Thanks for the video reply!!! I am going to check the board as you outlined. I did find a replacement board online for $9. in case it needs replacing. Have not ordered it yet but at least I know someone has them. I will let you know what I find.

    Thanks for this. I have the AC power jack problem also.
    I need to take this on a road trip before I can attempt the repair. I'm going to try the following:
    Use a trickle charger connected to the jumper cables with the jumper switch turned on. Hoping to DC charge the battery that way.
    Do you see any problems with this approach?

      What you suggest works fine. You can charge the battery that way but there's an unobvious connection catch. While both jaws of the Schumacher's alligator clips have big copper contacts, only one contact is actually wired. If you clip the float charger to the wrong contact, an easy mistake to make, it won't charge. So if you don't already have a float charger, consider something like this: www.harborfreight.com/automotive/battery-tools-accessories/battery-chargers-maintainers/12v-deluxe-battery-maintainer-and-float-charger-62813.html or this: www.harborfreight.com/automotive/battery-tools-accessories/battery-chargers-maintainers/4-amp-fully-automatic-microprocessor-controlled-battery-chargermaintainer-63350.html Both of these have an SAE connector in the middle of their output cables and come with two ways to terminate them. You can plug in a short cable with alligator clips or a short cable with ring terminals. Attach the short cable with ring terminals to the Schumacher battery. Notch the battery door so that the SAE connector hangs outside. Problem solved. Not only that, but you can leave the maintainer permanently attached. It won't overcharge the battery you won't have to energize the jumper cables to keep it charged! Much safer that way. Good luck. Thanks for commenting. My plug did not have wires ...what two posts are the two wires attached to??

    • @LawrencePina
      @LawrencePina  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      When you say "my plug" are you referring to a 3-prong replacement plug? In that case, rewire to the outer two prongs. The center prong is for earth ground which is not connected on a portable power pack. For additional views of the 3-prong replacement plug I used please watch: th-cam.com/video/OsAhYTDgEr8/w-d-xo.html in "Schumacher™ XP2260 Not Charging? PART 2." Lots of additional (viewer requested) info there. Good luck! Thanks for asking. Please like and subscribe as it really helps the channel...

    I just bought one. I use it to charge my phone. I had my usb charger plugged into the battery. But after awhile the battery will beep. Do I need a whole new battery or is it an easy fix? Thank you so much!

      Not much to go on here. Do you have the phone's 120VAC to 5VDC wall charger plugged into a 120V AC inverter socket on the power pack? Or, do you have the phone's USB charging cable plugged into a USB A socket on the power pack? Or, do you have the phone's USB charging cable plugged into a 12VDC to 5V DC cigarette lighter plug connected to a 12VDC accessory socket on the power pack? I've tried all three ways and I can not duplicate the symptoms you describe. The only problem I did have is when trying to charge an old Motorola flip phone using various USB camera cables. None of the camera cables I tried had their charge lines connected, just data lines, so none of them were able to charge that old phone. Interested to know which charging method you used and whether or not you tried any of the alternate charging methods...

    Lawrence, is there visible damage in the connectors when they are bad/broken? Or they just stop making contact. Mine wont charge, but woulld like to know if a new charger is enough.

    • @LawrencePina
      @LawrencePina  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Swing out, power cord connectors break in such a way that their male prongs no longer make contact with the load and neutral wires inside the power pack. When this happens, the plastic is usually (key word: usually) very obviously broken and the prongs swing out crooked. Part 2 of this video, th-cam.com/video/OsAhYTDgEr8/w-d-xo.html shows how to test connectors that may be less obviously broken. If the power cord connector tests good, then most likely you have corroded ring terminals on one or both of the battery cables and/or (most likely, and) a dead battery. These common problems are very easily fixed. Watch Part 2. Good luck! Thanks for asking.

      Might also be a dead battery. These two videos should help you to determine which it is:

    Hello…
    I have the Schumacher XP2260 - CA. It won’t charge past 74% and the green led light on the back does not come on at all, of course I wouldn’t know how to fix it, but I can pass on information to my brother. When I turn jumper on it reads 12.7, When I turn the inverter on it reads r02, lights work on the front. Any information will be appreciated.

    • @LawrencePina
      @LawrencePina  ปีที่แล้ว

      Regarding the r02 error code, Schumacher codes actually start with an f (as in failure?), which I also originally mistook for an r (because it looks more like an r?). According to Schumacher, here's what it means: "F02 The charger cannot desulfate the battery. The battery could not be desulfated; have it checked or replaced." To check the battery, remover the battery compartment cover and look for corrosion on the battery terminals. Detach the connections as necessary and clean off whatever corrosion you find with a few drops of apple cider vinegar. The first few drops will bubble. When the bubbling stops, all of the corrosion will be gone. Next, test battery voltage with a multimeter. Does the multimeter agree with the 12.7 volts shown on the Schumacher display? Whatever it shows, reconnect the battery cables, plug in the charge cable and retest. Does the meter show over 13 volts now? If it doesn't, charge voltage is not reaching the battery. Further disassembly and observation may reveal a pinched wire, internal corrosion, or you might just have a bad charger PCB. Lots of info on these issues in th-cam.com/video/OsAhYTDgEr8/w-d-xo.html Portable Power Repair Secrets - Schumacher™ XP2260 Not Charging? PART 2. Hope your brother can find and fix the problem. Please consider reposting after he's given it a look. Let others know what you found out. Good luck and thanks for posting!

    my unit starts to charge then stops? Is it a dead batteries... are they replaceable?

    • @LawrencePina

      Dead battery is a common problem. It is replaceable. These 2 videos should help:
