That being said, I would like to see Apple self implement a 30% tax on its own apps. Make sure that that goes directly back into improving the ecosystem for third-party apps.
For example, every time somebody pays for an Apple Music subscription 30% of that would go directly into either Spotify or a direct competitor, into music infrastructure within the ecosystem, ie apis.

1: there would be no point apple paying 30%, it would just go straight back to them so ofc they don't, that would be illogical
2: Spotify does work with Siri for iOS and MACOS, just not for Homepod
3: Google litreally installs YT music on every Pixel and Chrome book branded device
4: Spotify is a pretty bad company in General towards consumers
5:Spotify will fail regardless as instead of giving everyone what they want (high quality music, good in the car options, Kareoke mode and More), Spotify is just adding features that nobody asked for (AI mode??) and bricking peoples devices (Car Thing)

      1. yeah makes sense
      2. he mentioned it DIDNT work with siri/macos at the start (which i dont blame them)
      3. people use default apps (outside of MSEdge) and would rather not have their phone cluttered with multiple apps with similar functions, so being the "default" preinstalled app already gives them an edge. Its their phone, software, and ecosystem so its just business but i can understand their worries.
      4. idk much about the company's moralities but if theyve been true to their 70%/30% distribution plan then they cant be that bad. if youre referring to the price increase it was already explained in the video.
      5. i agree they should bring more features people will actually enjoy.

You got a couple of things wrong! 1. Apple do not stop subscriptions via an external web site (Netflix, X formally Twitter and Spotify) they have to do their OWN marketing not use Apple platforms to market it (eg links in Apps). 2. Siri can integrate with any app as long as the developers do the correct coding, however Spotify has NOT done this so this is down to them not Apple. Google Play Store has more malicious apps than App Store 🤷‍♂️. You also forgot to mention that Apple Music is better quality music and pay more to the Artist than any other Music App.

Spotify has SOME advantages compared to Apple Music, such as better song recommendations and podcasts, but the issue with it is that it’s more expensive than Apple Music, doesn’t even have Lossless audio, and Apple Podcasts exists and it’s simply not worth it to pay more for worse sound quality and a slightly better way of expanding your song library. Like- even TH-cam Music is amazing. It’s bundled in with TH-cam Premium, essentially making it $6.49 if the TH-cam part itself was $9.99, and is directly included and accessible with TH-cam, a platform most people use. I know this comment is sorta messy bc I’m just laying down some thoughts, but Apple Music is considerably better for my use case. The difference in sound quality is noticeable. Once you use it, you can never go back. Spotify misses on the depth of bass, the clarity of vocals, the punches of the drums, it isn’t rich, it’s flat, and the immersion isnt there

One sudden moment, after around 2 years unsing this, Spotify blocked my song suggestions (basically stopped showing other songs after I listened to one of my songs. I had the very hard decision to make after they removed the lyrics, and I had to port to Apple music. To this day I think Spotify algorithm is way better, but because of their pettiness, Im not switching back. Now Im a full Apple Music customer (Android), and I cant say that its better because the reccomandations are not as good as Spotify (1 year of Apple Music), but man, it has some very neat features. • @mistymu8154
    @mistymu8154 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I believe the rate eventually drops to 15% after about a year. I understand that Spotify operates on thin margins, so a 15-30% cut is substantial. However, the fact remains that you're using Apple's App Store to host your app. Any other platform would charge a similar, if not higher, fee. The underlying issue is that Spotify's business model isn't sustainable. They give a large portion of their revenue to record labels and depend on operating system providers like Apple, Google, and Microsoft to make their app accessible. Apple has invested billions into developing its operating systems and App Stores, so it's unrealistic to expect them to offer Spotify a free marketplace. I think Apple is just an easy target rather than going after the labels who take 70% who are then the ones who screw over the artists. But, the labels provide a lot of funding to Spotify so they aren't going to bite the hand that feeds them.

Apple is using their platform, like a content creator, to promote a service. You can still use Spotify, you can delete Apple Music from your phone. But if you stay within that apple ecosystem and use their music app, everything will work better because they can ensure it will. Spotify pays a 30% fee to go on an apple OS. What necessarily gives them the right to that OS? not much, they never made it. They are paying so apple can develop the OS that hosts their app, and biting the hand that feeds them is NOT a good idea.

Also, I just recently switched from Spotify to Apple due to 3 main reasons.
    1. Apple is cheaper monthly, yes, but also it comes with a yearly plan of $99.99 instead of paying $143 a year through monthly Spotify.
    2. Apple has lossless audio (better audio quality long story short), and you can change the bass of songs you want in settings.
    3. Apple is meant for Apple products such as IPhones and AirPods that come with Spatial Audio and are compatible so you can let Siri know which song you want.
+ One last bonus is in IOS 18, Apple Music is allowing SharePlay even if someone else doesn’t have a subscription allowing you to give more input into your friends/ family’s tunes + more.

That’s why EU changed the law, and mandate Apple to opened up for third party app stores. Dispute of the little success, I really don’t see a point in this. Besides, as an Apple fan boy that pay for some Apple service (actually just one) that I barely use (Netflix also), I don’t see much of a problem on the 30% commission fees. If apples App Store is such a monopolist, what about Windows license? What about Cisco license? (The later one is way more ridiculous, in many ways) but you hear my point. As greedy as Apple is, so is Spotify.

As much as I love spotify and use it over Apple music they got too comfortable at the top. Instead of getting petty with the competition they need to innovate more. Stop taking away features. Increase your audio quality or lower the price. The problem with Spotify is that the price is not justified. If it came bundled with another subscription for 12$ a month and they were committed to always innovating like Apple music the user base would skyrocket

Guidelines and rules are different things. Apple Music follows the same guidelines as Spotify but doesn’t pay the 30% as it is part of the iOS system. Apple Music also pays artists more than Spotify, a lot more.
Also, Spotify doesn’t let users upgrade to premium through the iOS or Android app anymore. They rather lose a subscription than to pay 30% to Apple or Google.
You can only sign up to Premium on their website ever since the lawsuit. They’re not failing because of Apple Music, they’re failing because of multiple bad business choices they’re making in desperation to profit.

Oh, and I wish Apple Podcasts could add 3rd party non-Apple devices to cast to instead of AirPlay. AirPlay isn’t terrible, I just prefer not using and staying connected to a speaker over Bluetooth. The only thing Apple has done with Podcasts is launch a website for it and made a terrible Amazon Alexa skill for Podcasts.
