3:58 that's wrong, Apple opened up HomePod to third party music services a long time ago, Amazon Music works directly from the HomePod itself, but Spotify chose not to support HomePod.
The apple tax is actually such a ridiculous burden to overcome. Apple should not be allowed to block apps from redirecting users to a website that skirts the tax.
I believe the rate eventually drops to 15% after about a year. I understand that Spotify operates on thin margins, so a 15-30% cut is substantial. However, the fact remains that you're using Apple's App Store to host your app. Any other platform would charge a similar, if not higher, fee. The underlying issue is that Spotify's business model isn't sustainable. They give a large portion of their revenue to record labels and depend on operating system providers like Apple, Google, and Microsoft to make their app accessible. Apple has invested billions into developing its operating systems and App Stores, so it's unrealistic to expect them to offer Spotify a free marketplace. I think Apple is just an easy target rather than going after the labels who take 70% who are then the ones who screw over the artists. But, the labels provide a lot of funding to Spotify so they aren't going to bite the hand that feeds them.
Price is a motivating factor that's making my start making Apple Music start learning my TASTE. It's simply better value for me as a pure music listener, that lossless audio for $1 less a month is a no brainer.
Apple owns the phone and OS, that gives them the right to promote their stuff. When I sign up for a website, if I tick the box, it'll send me emails promoting their stuff. Apple is using their platform, like a content creator, to promote a service. You can still use Spotify, you can delete Apple Music from your phone. But if you stay within that apple ecosystem and use their music app, everything will work better because they can ensure it will. Spotify pays a 30% fee to go on an apple OS. What necessarily gives them the right to that OS? not much, they never made it. They are paying so apple can develop the OS that hosts their app, and biting the hand that feeds them is NOT a good idea.
I have to say that the audio quality is so much better and clearer on apple music. Its actually the main reason I switched from spotify. Also I love the karaoke feature. Its just fun to play around with. Also I like the overall looks on apple music bc you can set it on light mode. Only downsides for me are when you search songs or artists, its not as accurate as on spotify and its a bit slower and it doesnt have the recommendation song shuffle mode.
Dude this is awesome for your first video! Keep making high quality stuff like this man! 👍 Also, I just recently switched from Spotify to Apple due to 3 main reasons. 1. Apple is cheaper monthly, yes, but also it comes with a yearly plan of $99.99 instead of paying $143 a year through monthly Spotify. 2. Apple has lossless audio (better audio quality long story short), and you can change the bass of songs you want in settings. 3. Apple is meant for Apple products such as IPhones and AirPods that come with Spatial Audio and are compatible so you can let Siri know which song you want. + One last bonus is in IOS 18, Apple Music is allowing SharePlay even if someone else doesn’t have a subscription allowing you to give more input into your friends/ family’s tunes + more.
So where is the stealing part? Apple's business model involves charging a 30% commission on all apps, including Spotify. This practice is not considered theft, but rather a standard business practice within the Apple ecosystem.
Question: why is nobody complaining about the integration of Apple products and none Apple products in the IOS system of Apple? The integration of airpods is a lot better within IOS compared to Sony buds, or whatever other headphones.
Id rather pay for the the acct and get hi res and dolby and better quality on music using apple music used Spotify for 4 months then switched to apple music i genuinely feel Apple Music feels better
I think that Spotify is in the right here and Apple is playing unfair to promote their own App for revenue. Anyways, great video, keep it up! I was surprised that this video doesn't have more views and likes and that you only have 100 subs!
That’s why EU changed the law, and mandate Apple to opened up for third party app stores. Dispute of the little success, I really don’t see a point in this. Besides, as an Apple fan boy that pay for some Apple service (actually just one) that I barely use (Netflix also), I don’t see much of a problem on the 30% commission fees. If apples App Store is such a monopolist, what about Windows license? What about Cisco license? (The later one is way more ridiculous, in many ways) but you hear my point. As greedy as Apple is, so is Spotify.
How many songs do ya'll have in your playlist? For me I have 507 in spotify and apple music might sound better but spotify probably has more songs and options like podcasts and other stuff.
Apple built the marketplace, they can charge however much they want. If Spotify doesn’t like that they can build worlds most valuable company and pre install their music app on their phones.
It’s interesting to see how Apple Music's unique features and integration with the App Store might be giving it an edge, especially considering Apple’s larger ecosystem and potential monopoly influence. Spotify has some strong points too, but it’s clear Apple Music is making some strategic moves to capture more market share.

What's not mentioned here is that Apple - which provides the hardware - delivers a better service (HiRes + Dolby) and pays the artists MORE than Spotify. The audiences does not understand how exploitative Spotify is. But my playlists? Plenty of apps to move them over.
As much as I love spotify and use it over Apple music they got too comfortable at the top. Instead of getting petty with the competition they need to innovate more. Stop taking away features. Increase your audio quality or lower the price. The problem with Spotify is that the price is not justified. If it came bundled with another subscription for 12$ a month and they were committed to always innovating like Apple music the user base would skyrocket
I love Apple Music and I think Apple was smart they know their users like having everything in the same ecosystem and I love the fact that all my music is synced between my iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPad simultaneously so I never have to worry about downloading a app and remember a login once I’m signed in on my iCloud that’s it so yea AM is the best love them! ❤
the greediness that Apple showed toward Spotify, should've made us steer clear from them. But I guess Spotify can't afford to lose their audience there.
I switched to TH-cam music from Spotify after it had a price hike to 10.99. TH-cam premium may be more expensive but I get access to all the useful features in TH-cam and music. I also purchased it online so apple doesn’t get that 30% lol
Guidelines and rules are different things. Apple Music follows the same guidelines as Spotify but doesn’t pay the 30% as it is part of the iOS system. Apple Music also pays artists more than Spotify, a lot more. Also, Spotify doesn’t let users upgrade to premium through the iOS or Android app anymore. They rather lose a subscription than to pay 30% to Apple or Google. You can only sign up to Premium on their website ever since the lawsuit. They’re not failing because of Apple Music, they’re failing because of multiple bad business choices they’re making in desperation to profit.
The only thing I use Spotify for nowadays is Podcasts. If Apple Podcasts had integration on gaming consoles and Google Home devices, like Apple Music currently, I’d ditch Spotify in a heartbeat. Oh, and I wish Apple Podcasts could add 3rd party non-Apple devices to cast to instead of AirPlay. AirPlay isn’t terrible, I just prefer not using and staying connected to a speaker over Bluetooth. The only thing Apple has done with Podcasts is launch a website for it and made a terrible Amazon Alexa skill for Podcasts.
I used Spotify for years to listen to music, but for almost a year now I've been using Apple Music almost exclusively, as it's simply more pleasant to use and sounds better with lossless audio etc. And Apple Music has simply made better decisions when it comes to the user base...

Since Apple own the app store so they do not need to pay 30% commission which make them to keep the price lower than competitors ! EU commission need to force Apple to make a system of each app they own and have a competitors needs to reduce the 30% commision to 15%, such Apple music and Apple TV pluss and Apple Arcade! it is not fair!

Is Amazon just because it’s part of a prime bundle?
Basically how are you determining best and most used?
I just got it from some websites
I think I need to make more reseach next time
3:58 that's wrong, Apple opened up HomePod to third party music services a long time ago, Amazon Music works directly from the HomePod itself, but Spotify chose not to support HomePod.
The apple tax is actually such a ridiculous burden to overcome. Apple should not be allowed to block apps from redirecting users to a website that skirts the tax.
Spotify is saying complete bullcrap, it’s the global rate, and other music apps like Amazon music don’t have Siri integration
Sound quality of Spotify is shit 💩.. and mostly half baked Radio edits.. in my country Apple Music is way cheaper than Spotify..
Music cds shits all over garbage apple music no one should ever go to garbage spotify or apple music
I think it’s scummy that Apple made it where Spotify couldn’t even mention in there app that customers could pay from a website
Yep, Apple allow payements only through App Store
Price is a motivating factor that's making my start making Apple Music start learning my TASTE. It's simply better value for me as a pure music listener, that lossless audio for $1 less a month is a no brainer.
I never used Spotify Apple Music is better
Good point 🤔
aint no way this is bro's first youtube video 😭 i wouldn't be surprised if you were secretly MKBHD or something
😅😂 Just a normal guy that loves tech
Also one thing to note about, almost all of the music that we listen is owned by either of the 3 companies:
Universal Music Group
Warner
Sony
Yeah, and music apps negotiate rates with them
They are a big monopoly
I have to say that the audio quality is so much better and clearer on apple music. Its actually the main reason I switched from spotify. Also I love the karaoke feature. Its just fun to play around with. Also I like the overall looks on apple music bc you can set it on light mode. Only downsides for me are when you search songs or artists, its not as accurate as on spotify and its a bit slower and it doesnt have the recommendation song shuffle mode.
I use both but for different reasons. I use spotify for finding new songs, but apple music has undeniably better audio quality
I feel like if you use spotify you just do zero due diligence. Whats the point of listening to music if you dont care about the quality 😂
Dude this is awesome for your first video! Keep making high quality stuff like this man! 👍
Also, I just recently switched from Spotify to Apple due to 3 main reasons.
Thanks for your words 🙏
Damn, Apple is a real monopoly
You know that 😬
So where is the stealing part? Apple's business model involves charging a 30% commission on all apps, including Spotify. This practice is not considered theft, but rather a standard business practice within the Apple ecosystem.
It's theft, I didn't say that
The case overall is complicated and both sides have convincing arguments
Apple just better. In features, quality, and functionality.
Question: why is nobody complaining about the integration of Apple products and none Apple products in the IOS system of Apple? The integration of airpods is a lot better within IOS compared to Sony buds, or whatever other headphones.
I think it's not a problem of Apple that they do a better things than others.
So unfair Spotify audio quality is so bad that TH-cam sounds the same or better
Id rather pay for the the acct and get hi res and dolby and better quality on music using apple music used Spotify for 4 months then switched to apple music i genuinely feel Apple Music feels better
I went from Apple Music to Spotify and went back a day later 😂
I think that Spotify is in the right here and Apple is playing unfair to promote their own App for revenue. Anyways, great video, keep it up! I was surprised that this video doesn't have more views and likes and that you only have 100 subs!
Very thankful for your words
That’s why EU changed the law, and mandate Apple to opened up for third party app stores. Dispute of the little success, I really don’t see a point in this. Besides, as an Apple fan boy that pay for some Apple service (actually just one) that I barely use (Netflix also), I don’t see much of a problem on the 30% commission fees. If apples App Store is such a monopolist, what about Windows license? What about Cisco license? (The later one is way more ridiculous, in many ways) but you hear my point. As greedy as Apple is, so is Spotify.
Well that's a point 👌
@@1VONGARD I might have been abit too aggressive that I just realise now. Sorry if anyone get offended by this comment :p
Great video man keep it up
Honestly I really hate spotify so I’d be happy to see it go out of business
But that's harming competition
@@1VONGARD yeah but I still despise their guts so honestly it’s something that wouldn’t bother me
thanks for this informtion bro keep up
The only thing Spotify has over Apple Music is The podcasts, easier library, gapless playing and MAYBE the algorytm.
How many songs do ya'll have in your playlist? For me I have 507 in spotify and apple music might sound better but spotify probably has more songs and options like podcasts and other stuff.
Hope Spotify can find a way to keep up without constantly raising prices.
Apple built the marketplace, they can charge however much they want. If Spotify doesn’t like that they can build worlds most valuable company and pre install their music app on their phones.
No they can't. At least not in the EU anymore. Regulators will break this monopoly sooner or later.
It’s interesting to see how Apple Music's unique features and integration with the App Store might be giving it an edge, especially considering Apple’s larger ecosystem and potential monopoly influence. Spotify has some strong points too, but it’s clear Apple Music is making some strategic moves to capture more market share.
Spotify is fails from the beginning. After watching this video I’ve decided to download Spotify on my iPhone. And immediately experienced problems with login using google account. Then after stupid questions about my GENDER and my age i was sent back to login screen (what’s ur business. I’m here to listen to music and not get propaganda suggestions). I had to confirm my account and login again.
Spotify really suck, especially when it comes to paying artists, sound quality compared to Apple music...
Definitely Apple Music
And for the video, It criticized Apple monopoly practices, not Apple Music
@@1VONGARD i cannot say that ui totally sucks, BUT it’s so cringe that multimillion dollar company UI is not smooth and has short but noticeable freezes when expanding player even on my iphone 15 pro max.
But i feel really sorry for them when I noticed sign saying “You can't upgrade to Premium in the app. We know, it's not ideal.”…they cannot even mention that you can purchase subscription on website. I bet that loose a lot of potential customers and money because of that. I work in IT, so I quickly figured out that you need to go to their website and purchase it. But most of people have really bad at computer grammar, as a result lost customer
@@1VONGARD one more thing. Instead my username I see some hash as my profile name. It’s so damn stupid bug for multimillion company. Their dedication sucks.
Glad i enjoyed using Apple Music for over a year now to game on my Xbox Series S and Samsung Galaxy S24
What's not mentioned here is that Apple - which provides the hardware - delivers a better service (HiRes + Dolby) and pays the artists MORE than Spotify. The audiences does not understand how exploitative Spotify is. But my playlists? Plenty of apps to move them over.
Great video bro keep going
As much as I love spotify and use it over Apple music they got too comfortable at the top. Instead of getting petty with the competition they need to innovate more. Stop taking away features. Increase your audio quality or lower the price. The problem with Spotify is that the price is not justified. If it came bundled with another subscription for 12$ a month and they were committed to always innovating like Apple music the user base would skyrocket
very interesting video! I’d check grammar in the future though, as it can be jarring and cause some accidental implications.
I'm forgot to re-check, it was my first video
But thanks for your comment ❤️
no way this is your first TH-cam video! the video production quality is amazing :O
Thanks ❤️
Doing my best
I LOVE the way this guy talks. Subscribing in hopes to see more. Good video!
Thanks,
You will not regret it🔥
I love Apple Music and I think Apple was smart they know their users like having everything in the same ecosystem and I love the fact that all my music is synced between my iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPad simultaneously so I never have to worry about downloading a app and remember a login once I’m signed in on my iCloud that’s it so yea AM is the best love them! ❤
the greediness that Apple showed toward Spotify, should've made us steer clear from them. But I guess Spotify can't afford to lose their audience there.
They need to get rid of those podcasts or at least hide them from people who are not interested
Apple has their podcasts on a whole separate app. And its better than spotify so what is even the point of spotify podcasts
I switched to TH-cam music from Spotify after it had a price hike to 10.99. TH-cam premium may be more expensive but I get access to all the useful features in TH-cam and music. I also purchased it online so apple doesn’t get that 30% lol
Sure, TH-cam Music is the best deal
You get TH-cam premium + TH-cam Music 👌🔥
Wouldn't Apple's 30% cut be going to their stock holders?
It might
But it might also go to more developpement of the app
In all cases, Apple takes it
btw. google has google assistant which has full support for spotify.
they good like if thats the case just make spotify desing a SpoPhone, i just like to switch whenever i got 3 months free trial
And yes, it is more convenient to have your data in relatively safe hands with Apple...
I agree 💯
Spotify has many technical problems with their app, plus the sound quality is better on Apple Music
Best choice 👌
it’s kind of like playing uno and getting better cards than everyone else
ur content and video are awesome
You're welcome
I used to use Spotify but it was my nanas family plan when she got rid of the family plan I got Apple one with Apple Arcade, Apple TV and Apple Music been loving it but I loved the video seeing what’s been happening behind the app
I’ve been using Apple Music for 4 years, it looks better, sounds a bit better too, but I swapped for Spotify this month, first the Playlist system sucks, no one outside America uses it, I can’t control my ApM. Mac with my Apple Watch but I can with Spotify, it doesn’t make sense, not to mention that the play on apple music doesn’t make sense at all… sad cause I wanted to keep my apple music account, and I just remembered, if you move out of your country and change the app store location on your iPhone you lose all your songs and data 🤬
Windows for PC and apple for mobile devices is the way for me.
Lol no one uses Tidal
daniel really has the nerve to call apple ''greedy''. dude can't even see his own errors lol
but apple is greedy, if that dude said it or not its true
Since Apple own the app store so they do not need to pay 30% commission which make them to keep the price lower than competitors ! EU commission need to force Apple to make a system of each app they own and have a competitors needs to reduce the 30% commision to 15%, such Apple music and Apple TV pluss and Apple Arcade! it is not fair!
went from android to apple 2 weeks ago, still using android phone more just because of music problem, like why the fuck do you need to play that crap🤦♂️
Are you a native English speaker? I noticed quite a few grammatical errors in this video, so I was just wondering. If not, you're doing well, I still fully understood what you mean!
😅 I'm Not native
But very thankful for your remark
If you had any corrections, I will be more than happy to learn from you
Nice video quality but why there's only 900 subs what the fffkk

UNDERRATED!
Your thé best 🔥🔥🔥
0:58 it’s not a net loss. They didn’t lose money
Really? That's what the stats say 🤔
@@1VONGARDI think you misunderstand what “net” means. Spotify earned a revenue of $15.2 billion dollars, and lost 131 million. So they did lose money, but still returned a profit so it’s not a net loss.
Or perhaps, I misunderstood what you meant, and Spotify has been losing money every year for the past 15 years.
@@1VONGARD If it's how you're trying to say, that means Spotify has been losing money every year with no profit 😂
Nice video bro 👍
In business every company watch its own benefits that same happen here between apple and Spotify.
Interesting perspective! Apple's strategies could challenge Spotify's dominance in the streaming industry.
My spotify and apple music are both 6.50€ But i prefer spotify as i listen to really niche songs that apple not have
Great review❤for me apple music is the best
so this is why that Spotify is not available in Mac
You can get it from Spotify's website but its not on the App Store.
You can use it on browser 😉
So happy to see TH-cam Music in the top 3
soitify should make smartphone too
😂😂 Naah that's pretty hard
What ever apple is doing great. 👍
Great breakdown of the Spotify vs. Apple Music battle! The competition is really heating up. Thanks for the detailed insights!
