How to Create Animated Gradient in After Effects

- The animated gradient effect in After Effects is a popular way to create dynamic and visually appealing backgrounds for videos or motion graphics. It involves creating a gradient layer and animating its colors, position, or opacity over time using keyframes. By adding different blending modes and effects to the layer, the result can be further customized to achieve a desired look and feel.

Straight to the point, no fluff and just pure value. Thank you.
Anytime!
Excellent as always! Great tutorial Panter
Great tutorial thank you Panter.
Great tutorial! Thanks
Thank you! This is awesome and you make it so easy!
I didn't need to go much past the first stage to get the result I was looking for, which was a slowly moving gradient background, but the rest is great to know for when I want a cool oily/liquid look.
Thanks again!
You're welcome! I'm glad it worked:)
Super useful, super direct, thanks for this!
You're welcome!
Cool! Thank you!

Thanks!
will be using this technique for backgrounds to my guided meditations. thank you so much.
You're welcome!
Hi thank you for making this tutorial !
But I have a problem, why as soon as I apply the Motion Tile my comp goes black and white ?
Thanks!
thank you PANTER! 🐅
You're welcome!
Thanks, it's helping me!
You're welcome!
Instant subscribe! thanks
Haha thank you!
Nice tutorial amigazo
Brilliant tutorial thank you!! Helping me out with my work hahahah
You're welcome!😄
очень классный эффект, спасибо!
How come you're able to drag the points of the gradient. I have to manually click and place where I want them to be from the effect controls.
Thank u 😊
Your welcome!
Thanks for another amazing tutorial! Does anyone know if it's possible to mask the animated gradient into typo? I've tried so many things and keep failing.
an easy way to do this would be mask the type out in photoshop and then just put the gradient video file behind it in the timeline panel. That's how I would do it at least, sure there's a way in AE but they over complicate things sometimes IMHO and I am just better at PS.
Is there a way to do it with more than 4 points?
Hi there and thy for the tutorial ! How do i slow down the animation of the gradient ?
Type time*100, worked for me!
@@GertjanVanVooren cool thx man
Gained a sub !
Thank you!
Thanks for the video! thumb up! could you please tell if it possible to make this gradient animation loopable?
Thanks! Yes it can be looped
@@PANTERvision Could you please explain how to do it? or maybe tell us where to find this information? Thank you for your reply☀
@@PANTERvision please.....
cannot find information......
1:52, what is the alternative for Mac? There isn't any alt key on it
Command
I am a beginner and these types of tutorials are the best. Is there a chance to make it perfectly looped? My current "loop" has a strong cut.
Thanks! Yes if you animate it with keyframes
@@PANTERvision Thanks for your reply. Do you have a tutorial about that? If not, are there any chances to get a quick one? Thanks!
Any tips for how to make this loop?
I want to use this effect on a website's hero section, but without a loop its too big a file? How Do i make the points loop with the time*200 And twist on effect
A quick and dirty work around for smooth looping in After Effects is to:
1) Pre-Compose a layer
2) Duplicate that composition
3) Right click the duplicate and select Time -> Time Reverse Layer
4) Drag the reversed layer to play after the regular layer
That way, anything you animate in a layer with end up back where it started, by playing in reverse.
@@Intern998 Thanks @intern988 I will try this!!!
If the reverse looks harsh or jumpy, another dirty method is just overlapping the compositions and blending the middle point as long as the colour clash isn't too obvious @@user-fc8yb4cz4x
ty!! super useful!! can i ask how i can loop it?
Thanks!~ You can loop using keyframes
Done
Is there any way to add a 5th color to the 4-color gradient?
I know a solution where you can duplicate the layer with the effect and on the first layer you adjust the colors, change their position and then change the blend mode to melt the two layer gradients together.
@@PANTERvisionhow does that work?
Im getting some lines after I have mirrored the edges, I checked all my settings and they match what you did. Am I missing something?
I think my artboard size was 1080p, if you have different artboard size it gonna bring different results. Try to adjust the settings to match you're composition. Hope this helps
Hi, I’m having a similar issue, composition is 1080px X 1920px. It still looks awesome, just not needing the lines for current project
How can i put the animated gradiend inside a Logo?
With Track Matte pick whip
I wanted to have a duration of 20 minute but I don't understand how to improve the time. At 2 minute it stops
How can we make this loop so the last frame is the same as the first?
You can do that with keyframes
@@PANTERvision do you have a tutorial you’d recommend? Very new to after effects.
@@Followbrayden You gonna need to learn the basics of After Effects and do some online courses🙂
Many thanks, bro
You're welcome mate!
does anyone know how I can make the animation slower?
Expand the work area and also go to "Composition > Comp settings" and change the duration of the video to be longer.
@@PANTERvision I tried doing both, it didn't work. I also tried lowering the number in the (time*200) code, and it didn't work. And my problem is my laptop is too slow so I can't try and play around too much.
@@RaghadA-dl7di But after you made it longer, move the keyframes all the way out so it slows down
to fast
