The Beatles came BEFORE rock was differentiated into different genres. Their music was often the reason for the creation of a new rock genre. No one has influenced rock and pop music as much as these four from Liverpool, England.

@@proofprof50 I find that the people I run into, who say they are overrated (not that it has happened often), base their statements on a couple of hits and think that is all there is to the Beatles. They often have no idea of their history and the incredible variety in their songs, and how their songs seem to touch so many people in a way that no other bands can do, even after all these years. I remember the White Album and Abbey Road being played a lot in my childhood home, and what I noticed was that there was something in there for everybody; little ones, teenagers, mums, dads, grandmas and grandpas. The development of their sound and songs in only six years is mind boggling. They have been with me all my life and what a joy that has been.

In 7 years of recording The Beatles produced more brilliance than others could in a lifetime. They were a major pivot point in music only equaled by the likes of Bach, Mozart and Beethoven. The Beatles sit alone in the rock era looking down from the mountain at everybody else. As far as bands go, they are at the ludicrous level.

what many still don't understand about the beatles is that they invited EVERYONE to enjoy them.
they wrote songs in french, they wrote a song about the soviet union, they wrote kids songs, they wrote songs about old people, they recorded german versions of 2 of their biggest early hits ("she loves you" and "i want to hold your hand"). they added indian instruments to some of their songs, sometines horns. they wrote songs for hippies and squares, they covered motown songs appealing directly to blacks. they delved into country and western and even comedy songs. they wrote love songs and protest songs. acid rock and tin pan alley type songs. they were hard core rockers and melodic balladeers.
the WHOLE WORLD was invited to enjoy the special talent and charm the beatles had offer. they were very special indeed.

He's Billy Davis, a streetbusker, who managed, to get into the band's entourage during the filming of the Beatles' TV movie Magical Mystery Tour in 1967. Since the Beatles always had a certain faible for unusual people, he was occasionally allowed, to hang out with the "Fab Four".

The reason McCartney looks pissed is because his microphone was no longer in front of him. I think the old guy lost his footing, and as he tried to hold onto something, somehow he inadvertently moved the microphone.
Great reaction to a classc song. I am confident you will love most-if not all-the songs by The Beatles. They are still enjoyed by many to this day, even though they broke up 54 yrs ago. Their recording career lasted only 7-1/2 years, but they developed at an amazing pace and sounded progressively better with each new release. They were an undeniable force and nobody in the music industry could keep up with them. Best of luck with your reactions.

So many people love this video because of how it makes them feel, seeing this crowd of diverse people of different ages, races, and cultures singing together. This was particularly poignant in the tumultuous sixties. You feel a real sadness as it fades away at the end. This inspired the lyrics of Shangri-La by ELO, where the singer's love "faded like the Beatles on Hey Jude."

A song mainly Paul wrote with John's son Julian in mind when he learned that John had left his first wife Cynthia in favor of Yoko Ono. Originally Paul wanted called it Hey Jules but changed to Jude cause he felt it sounded better. Like i said the inspiration came after a spontaneous visit at the home of Cynthia and Julian. Paul wanted to check out how they were doing during this hard time. Cynthia was very grateful about Paul's concern about their well beeing and wasn't something she had expected. Nowadays a song Paul does at every show it's like the sing-along-song!!

I think you might enjoy seeing them in performance when they were just beginning to hit the big-time - check out their whole set from the 'Drop-In' show on Swedish TV from 1963.
It's short enough to easily watch in one sitting, but has quite a few of their early hits and a rip-roaring Little Richard cover by Paul to finish. Watching the whole thing, you can see how they won over an initially quite reserved audience, many of whom didn't know anything about them before this show.
The sound is all out of balance but for some reason, it's still my favourite early recorded performance by them - so full of life and energy, hungry for success, pulling out all the stops to win over their audience. (And, so cute, of course!)

"The Beatles are the best-selling music act of all time, with estimated sales of 600 million units worldwide. They hold the record for most number-one albums on the UK Albums Chart (15), most number-one hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (20), and most singles sold in the UK (21.9 million). The band received many accolades, including seven Grammy Awards, four Brit Awards, an Academy Award (for Best Original Song Score for the 1970 film Let It Be) and fifteen Ivor Novello Awards." -Wikipedia
"Half a century after their breakup, The Beatles were still the biggest rock band of 2020, shifting 1.094 million album-equivalent units through the first six months of the year, 326,000 units ahead of the genre’s second-place finisher, Queen. The Fab Four also had the fifth-bestselling vinyl album of the year, selling 54,000 copies of their 1969 opus Abbey Road. They had good company in the vinyl category, including fellow classic rock icons Queen and Pink Floyd, pop supernova Billie Eilish and retro-rock heartthrob Harry Styles. The Beatles also perform exceptionally well on streaming services, with many songs racking up hundreds of millions of plays." -Forbes

Steph, if you want to go down this rabbit hole, here's the road map: PLEASE PLEASE ME (1963), WITH THE BEATLES (1963), A HARD DAY'S NIGHT (1964), BEATLES FOR SALE (1964), HELP! (1965), RUBBER SOUL (1965), REVOLVER (1966), SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND (1967), MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR (1967), YELLOW SUBMARINE (1968), THE BEATLES (aka THE WHITE ALBUM, 1968), ABBEY ROAD (1969), LET IT BE (1970). After these main albums, listen to PAST MASTERS Vol. 1 and 2, compiling all their hit singles (such as this one you just reacted to) that weren't included on the albums. It's 300 or so songs that transformed music forever.

Your first reaction is to the Beatles most popular song, at least in terms of how long it stayed at No. 1. And if this was any other band, you could expect it to go downhill from here. But not with the Beatles. You won’t be disappointed as you get deeper into the Beatles.

I saw Paul McCartney live. He was able to keep the "Nananana" chorus going for about twenty minutes .

The Beatles were strongly opposed to segregation and refused to play in a venue/show where segregation (not exclusion) of audiences was still practiced.
The station manager was letting Paul know that they needed to fade out. Obviously Paul wasn’t happy about it but hey, the Beatles would’ve played for a few more minutes, eating into airtime.
