    Your technique of using the plastic water bottle to catch the oil from the old oil filter is brilliant. Nice work. Thank you so much.

    I finally put a Fumoto F-133 drain on my '08 4Runner. I've had an F-103 sitting in my garage for a few years, but never got around to installing it. Saw the updated version (F-133) and figured it was time. Another excellent example of Japanese engineering and manufacturing. I change my oil fairly often; this is going to make an easy job even easier.

    I have a 2004 sr5 4wd, 123k miles. I’ve always used Castrol edge/Castrol edge high mileage 5w30. I recently switched to supertech 10w30 synthetic high mileage. I live in a hot, year round state so I’ve found that 10w30 makes my engine sound smoother in the mornings.

      I now have 131k miles. I change my oil every 3k miles, so I’ve been trying all the oil brands. I really like Royal Purple HMX. Right now I’m running Valvoline full synthetic max life 10w30. I will probably be sticking with Valvoline from now on. Easy to find and packed full of detergents and additives.

    I’m doing the change myself. I picked up a motomaster mph3614 oil filter fir the job. It was recommended by the seller. Hopefully it’s sufficient.

    Be very careful about which oil filter because they have internal reliefs for example which may or may not be set correctly (this from a Toyota tech). I go with Toyota to be safe.

    What kind of headlights you have? Love the grills. Is it an insert or need to purchase the whole grill from Satochi? Got those logo on my 3rd gen. Also got a 4th gen same model you have. I’ll be subscribing. Thanks for the OCD tips. Me too! Neatness is a must.

      The lights are from eBay, just a full replacement, and were a bit under $200. Just search "4 runner headlights black". I followed instructions similar to these for the Satoshi grille: www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/223559-12-steps-deep-satoshi-grill.html

    Nice video! What bull-bar do you have on there and did it come with the light bar? Do you like the light bar? I'm looking to add some fog lighting to my rig and I like the bull-bar with the lightbar combo on yours. I think I'd want yellow fogs, but either way it's nice.

      It's the Daystar leveling kit (2.5" front and 1.5" rear); very easy to install and gave it the stance i was looking for. And yes, BFG All Terrain T/A on 2018 17" 4Runner rims.

    How do you know how many miles you can get between oil changes?

    • @eastcoastish
      @eastcoastish  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Honestly, you could probably run 15,000 miles with good oil and be ok. I'd recommend changing every 7,500 miles or sooner. I've just got in the habit of doing it every time the notification light comes on.

    Fram filters are generally known to be garbage.

    • @eastcoastish
      @eastcoastish  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you are changing your oil regularly enough, I don't think it makes a significant difference. For what it's worth, this old 4Runner has over 150k miles worth of Fram filters (changed every ~5k) and is still running great.

    • @lowridingtrucks88

      @@eastcoastishthat Fram Tough Guard filter is their mid-tier offering. I’ve been using them for years and never had a problem with them. They’re rated for 15K miles, but really I wouldn’t go that far with it. Personal preference but 5K - 7K miles is more my oci. (I do a lot of hwy driving). Came across your video because a friend of mine just bought this generation 4-Runner, and I wanted to see what was involved with the oil change. Kudos! 😃👍🏼
