The mustang and that Volvo would have been a perfect two car garage back in the day. Even now they’re both pretty sweet rides. :)

The perfect amount of restoration and reparation on this one. A car that has weathered the storm tells the stories of love & use. Congratulations on reinstating it to service.

Wow, you brought a piece of history back to life there. I’ve owned 2 Volvo 245DL’s in my time and nowadays it’s rare to see a 240 on the road, let alone a 245/244. But a 145? I’d almost forgotten they existed! But that’s where the story began, for the legendary Volvo Estate (or Station Wagon as it’s called in the States.) Great job 👍👍👍

  • @foxyloon

Wow, you took thirty years off of that Volvo!
Would definitely make for an excellent daily driver in it's current state. The fact it came with a brand new set of OEM replacement taillight lenses is a really welcome surprise, too.

I remember back in the day when my parents bought one of these new, except it was yellow. Loved that car that me and my siblings grew up with. as a child you are super attentive to all the little details, like the pattern in the vinyl ceiling, the texture of the door panels, etc.
Me and my one year older sister gave it a rough start, though. One day short after we got it we figured out it was possible to clinb up on the roof and use the flex of the metal pretty much like a trampoline. So we basically jumped up and down on the roof for a while, and then a few of the kids in the neighbourhood joined in. Soon, we found out that if we hauled up pebbles on the car as we jumped on it, all the little pieces of rock would dance around our feet. All very enjoyable in a childs shortsighted mind.
For the following weeks, that car had a large puddle of water on top after it had rained, and being yellow, all the rust stains that developed all over the car made it commonly known as "the giraffe" in the neighbourhood.
My parents got it fixed though, but this is a passage that humbles me, and one I often remember when my own children break things. Mum and dad, I still owe you!

I'm still trying to catch up with your Playlist of videos and have to thank you all for giving us enjoyable content.
p.s. Michael I have to say that when you speak of what has been done as, '...it's not perfect...' I believe that's not in your intentional wheel house for most of these refurbs.

My mom had Volvo '70 Wagon..almost identical except for the year and color. Our family's Volvo 140 wagon was dark green, with a dark dijon mustard-like color. The car also had additional collapsable rear seating made of leather. And what topped off the video is my dad had a '67 Mustang..white with a red stripe, and red leather interior...my god, did I get flashbacks.
