Dvaravati empire is the first empire of Siam (Thailand) like 2,000-3,000 years old. Si Thep is part of it and was recently announced as World Heritage by UNESCO. It's more than 1,700 years old. Hi Jason, thank you for visiting my beloved hometown. Sukhothai is a historical town with old charm and the nicest, friendliest people. Food are amazing and authentic. There are a lot of Sukhothai noodle menu sold in Bangkok but you need to have it in Sukhothai to know how good a simple noodle can be. We welcome all travels to our exotic town.
Wow yes for sure what a beautiful serene and peaceful place Jason. I hope you are getting in on some meditation sessions for the peacefulness. Thanks for this video it was one of your many awsome prductions awesome.
Sukhothai is the old capital 700 years ago. Ayutthaya Province at 400 years and Bangkok 230 years and on 27 November 2023 will have the most beautiful Loy Krathong Festival in Sukhothai.❤❤❤❤❤
I am traveling to Thailand this coming November for four weeks and have Sukhothai and Si Satchanalai on my list. It's the only place on my list where I haven't solved the transportation issue. Will be in Chiang Rai before going to Sukhothai and don't want a LONG bus ride and there are no direct flights.
Not many visitors that really are interested in historical place…you are one that is not included but real explorer Jason and this is why Chiangmai more fascinating 😅 however…thank you so much for appreciating our old capital.
I appreciate your style... good travels, im friends with British nationals... i was brought up by them... a foster kid... they taught me well, school teachers. Thank you.
Sukhothai's great. If you're still in Thailand then consider going to the northeast province of Burirum. There you'll find the ancient Khmer temples Prasat Phom Rung and it's sister temple of Muang Tum. Phnom Rung is gorgeous and is the closest you'll get to Angkor Wat in Thailand.
Man how I miss Thailand! Was there almost 10 years ago now 😭 I also really liked the temples at Sukhothai, however I wouldn't advice spending a lot more than one day there, since the town/city itself is rather boring imo.
How well preserved the statues are being out of doors. The temples and the sounds of the birds must have been transcendent being the only person around! Do you know if the pillars held up a roof at one time?
I guess one of the most underrated places in Thailand is Lopburi, with same historical buildings and temples (and monkeys), the city is also easy to walk around and reach by train (just 2 hrs from Bangkok).
The yellow bikes are failed experiment of rent-a-bike app in Bangkok a few years ago. The Chinese operator decided to cut loss and abandoned the project and the remaining bikes were sold cheaply to the Thai public. It seems this report bought quite a few. One thing about this bike is that it is sturdy built and should last for years or even decades if it is properly serviced. Simply oiling chains regularly and occasionally adjust chain's tension should be enough.
You are wrong. Thai or Siam had never been colonized by Khmer but in contrast, Khmer was colonized by Siam for more than 200 years. Khmer is not the founder of Angkor Wat, but it's Khom, the genesis of Siam or Thai recently. You can get through deep details at the museum or just google it. Nowadays, Khmer misunderstand that they are the founder of everything because while they were colonizing, they derived all Siam cultures or traditions from Siam. Their ancestors who knew well about history were killed by their interior wars and the new generation just acknowledges that all Khmer cultures and traditions are their own. Presently, there still be a conflict in this history between Cambodia and Thailand but if you gather this issue, you will know that there is a lot of evidence revealed and pointed to Thailand. Khmer is just a slave of Siam. They cannot even do handcrafting or weaving. Thai dresses and all art handcrafts with them were imported from Thailand.
It'd be "KHOM", not 'khmer'. From new history studying & many new evidences & DNA race test, it tended to be that Khom was Thai and had very least connection to Khmer or Cambodian.
You are mistaken. This land never belonged to Cambodia. This is Sukhothai, ruled by Father Sri Inthrathit. The first founder of the Thai language There are many ancient Thai sites that are as old as Cambodia. It has always been the territory of Thailand.

It was incredibly peaceful. I’m sure the pillars did support the roof - a lot has probably been restored today.
What a lovely place!
The drink is called Ka-Fae-Yen! Thai ice coffee. 😊
The room is elegant.Wat mahathat is well maintained.wat si is nice.
best part of the visit is that there are no other people!
It could all do with power washing.

In the West we assume that the Black Death only happened there but thousands died in Thailand and was a major reason Sukhotahai as a City ended.

Sah kok theyaua is how khmer pronounce Sukohothai. It was a Khmer city before Thai took over.
Khmer in the former time they were slave in time of Sukothai & Ayuthaya till Ru ttanagosin(BKK)
Khom were not Khmer but they were the king family who ruled all of Khmer tribe and the other tribes in that time
🇹🇭♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🇹🇭
thai thai resort 25baht a night ????? i search online is more expensive are u sure your price!?
'h' is silent in thai pronounciation so anything with diphthong 'th' is pronounced as 't'.
The Khmer people taught them how to write and dress.
Sukhothai is far more spectacular than Ayutthaya, I personally think.
So much better to have the entire place to yourself
