- This is the Best Tai Chi For Beginners,10 Minute Easy Workout video. Filmed on a rainy spring day in the Portland (my home town) Rose Garden, the routine begins with a beautiful poem by The Pedestrian. Here it is in full:
Sometimes
things just
have to get worse
before they can
get any better
Sometimes
the sky just
has to fall
before your life
can change at all
But I'll always
be your friend
Though you never know
you never know
the story's end
So let's just
turn one page
at a time,
look at the pictures
and listen to
the gentle rain
Sometimes
it's hard
to understand
why things
rarely go
the way they're planned
But that's no reason
to give in
sometimes you lose
sometimes you win
But I'll always
be your friend
Though you never know
you never know
the story's end
So let's just
turn one page
at a time,
look at the pictures
and listen to
the gentle rain...
it touches everyone
It can make you cry
and then it's gone
So let's just
turn one page
at a time,
look at the pictures
and listen to
the gentle rain
Listen to the gentle rain
It is raining outside in my country too. I'd better start doing some tai chi
Seriously - outside in the rain (or snow) is my very favorite way to practice!
yeah..I saw you doing Tai Chi in the rain in one of your urban series videos. After that i could not wait for the rainy season to come
Love this!
Thanks. This is a wonder-filled way to score a visit to your INNER self. It's a comfy place to enjoy!
Thanks again Dave, the music was 👏 awesome
This is so lovely
He has made tai chi a must to begin my day.
Thanks Dave for including my favourite move, cloud hands. I almost want to do it again but don’t feel it’d be worth it, next time, if it’s raining hard like it was today, can we hear Ed Sheehan with ‘cannot stop the rain’ cause I not only believe it is a good song, but it was written precisely for times like these.
Humid muggy 31C all summer! Yuck! Tai Chi as praying++++! Thank u, DDR! God bless u for teaching the world!
So beautiful! Yes, I cried - and then I smiled at all the people in the background who 'stop to smell the roses' even in the rain. Thank you!
Thank you very much for your program.
Even though this is probably an older video, I love it. I started doing Tai Chi seriously only a few months ago, and this is so calming. Needed in these stressful times I use it as my warm up video before I do a couple more, like "10 Tai Chi Moves For Beginners". Love the Middle Eastern type music on that. And then "10 Minutes for Tai Chi For A Better Mood". This was also done on the beach. I am from Barbados in the Caribbean. I relate to beautiful tropical beaches like what we have. Keep it up. I subscribed to the channel so I follow the various videos.
Thanks
So I chose a new video of yours because something was bothering me, and not a moment after I began doing this, I forgot what was bothering me and still can’t remember what it was! This was absolutely beautiful and ceased my thoughts so quickly. The music was perfect and the rain was beautiful. Please make more meditation Taichi videos, I absolutely loved this so much I did it twice in a row. Thank you ❤️
Thanks DDR for your words in Kindness, Yeah things get worse before they get better...thanks my friend , brought tears to my eyes..
Perfect on this rainy day.
Please make more meditation ones like this! They’re my favorite, I do this one all the time. ☺️ thank you for making them!!! The music choices in this are PERFECT, I love the vibe!!
I do this every morning for meditation, it's wonderful.

You made magic happen in my ❤️ &💭🤔.
Loved the poem, it spoke to my heart.
The roses, the rain 🌧 with the soothing music and flow...heaven on earth.
Beautiful background! Beautiful routine! On another note, beautiful tribute to Anthony yesterday. The loss was devastating to us as well. Keep on the path you have started. The two of you would have been a wonderful collaboration.
Exactly what I needed. Thank you so much.
More beautiful and meaningful each time!
I love this so much that I try and make it part of my daily routine.
Me 2
Very relaxing! It was very good! Thanks!
Magical, mystical, marvelous, life affirming! David Dorian, I don't know how to express to you and all who will listen how much this video and your teaching have meant to me. This is a masterpiece and I thank you every day! ( Dan Dial)
You are so welcome Dan - I am inspired by all of YOU, you know.
Hello david dr, I want to do my tai chi as good as you do. I look every day to your video and I practice every day too in my small garden in which is the lovely smell of Jasmine and a pink elderberry tree. Very inspiring!!!!
thank you a million times!
Peaceful interlude. Back to sleep.
Thanks for the beautiful routine in the beautiful gardens!
This was far and away my favorite practice. Sublime and peaceful. Much gratitude.
DDR, this is just too beautiful. I've revisited this video several times recently.
Still one of my favorites.
❤️
This was a masterpiece of daily masterpieces. A rose dance. Your sequence was saturated with "duende." Gracias.
Simply lovely! Thank you, David-Dorian. 💞
...watching this again, and it moves me so. Thank you, David-Dorian!
Thank you so much, absolutely super.
This video keeps finding its way back to me. ❤️ I listen to rain. I stand in the rain. The rain falls onto my head-it slips through my fingers and skims the surface of my body. The rain feels like an emotional cleansing of all the thoughts and feelings my heart does not express.
Your words-your lessons-your kindness, like the gentle rain slowly seep into my heart and feed my spirit. The rain whispers- soften, open just a tiny crack in your surface so I can get in, just be still and listen, stay with me, connect to me, I will help you, you are safe, trust me, you are full of potential, let go.
Too much noise in my head...too much to even know how or where to begin.
So, I will just sit with you. You, my friend and teacher, can turn the pages. One page at a time. And I will listen to the rain.
Thanks David, I try your tai chi on most days when I’m at home. I used to be a serious gym user, like 3/4 times a week+ the odd spin class about every 2 weeks. I don’t need them now I think
Si loved the poem about the rain. What is the name of the poem please and its author. Thank you
I think it's called "Listen to the Gentle Rain" - I found the poem on an obscure poetry website. The author's name was listed as The Pedestrian. Glad you liked it - I thought it was a really lovely poem as well.
David-Dorian Ross thank you so much. Ive only recently found you and your site and Im really enjoying your videos. Ive only managed to find one lesson on qigong though, do you have a link to more on qigong. Thanks DDR
I saw an old video of yours talking about yoga. Do you still practice, and if so ,How do you incorporate it with your tai chi practice?
