It's globalist urban-suburban Establishment enacting policies that are literal anathema to rural America:
Open Borders, multiracialism, electric cars, inflation, expensive energy, transgenderism, endless war, technological surveillance & dechristianization.
The Establishment has lost ALL RURAL SUPPORT.
It will cause Civil War, and rightly so.
You can't run a country with NO SUPPORT from the people of 90% of its territories.
Why do (largely conservative and rural) people increasingly support political violence?
      "TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!"

A point that should've been made. Instead this interview is "political violence", "political violence","political violence","political violence", Donald Trump, "political violence",..... Did newspaper and radio reports of Bonnie & Clyde cause them to be less, or even more violent?
The media has drifted back to the mistakes they've made in the past: Over reporting on every stupid and outrageous thing Trump says. That just increases his presence. Calling him a menace actually excites his base, but Tim Walz calling him and Vance "Weird and Creepy," stuck and they hated it. If you're going to be bad, you'd choose Ghengis Kahn, not that creepy guy who hangs around the parking lot of the convenience store.
Quantity is a critical factor. We all know Doritos and Coca Cola aren't healthy, so then why do those companies endlessly advertise? Because frequency works. Every time some 'expert' gets on the news and says Donald Trump and "political violence", another loser is inspired to mess with out elections. Trump gets promoted in the way that works for him.
The essential issue at stake in this election is the contrast between an out of control hate filled liar, and a resolute woman who has served in public office following the law, enforcing the law. Why do we endlessly hear about the latest Republican threat of violence, but we never hear of the specific instances of courage by Kamala Harris prosecuting dangerous criminals? The difference is one of them is a jackass who is more than willing to incite other jackasses, while the other calmly and courageously prosecuted violent criminals.
One more thing. If there is an attack on our votes, if there is a huge kerfuffle about counting, we know what the plan is: Get it to the Supreme Court. They did that in 2000 and the right wing majority stopped the count and installed George W. Bush. So this time if the ballots in the key states become a contentious issue, then President Biden, using the powers the Supreme Court just gave a president (intending them for Trump), should declare the process of the Electoral College has been thwarted, so the only thing to be done is to go with the popular vote. Declare Kamala Harris president if she clearly has a majority. All of this GOP trying to kick people off of voter rolls, inventing the fear of fake voters, miscounts, etc, etc... is all devised to manipulate the already dubious process of the Electoral College.
Am I willing to fight for our democracy? I already have, not by committing violence but by standing up against it.

The 'Replacement Theory'?? No one is being 'replaced'. What they're afraid of is losing CONTROL. Now, me myself and I, all three of us, never have been in control of much of anything other than MY business. And It hasn't been an easy life, it hasn't been a pretty life, but it was mine and I learned how to adapt, accept, stand strong and make myself happy. That I believe is what I feel people miss. No-one is responsible for your happiness but you. People are going to judge you and find fault with you no matter what. So just be who you are that you are happy with. Be someone you can be PROUD of , you can forgive yourself for not being. perfect, you can laugh at your self and when people are mean to you know that is a bigger reflection of who THEY are rather than being right about who YOU are. Because no one decides who you are other than you. If what they say that you don't like hurts because there's some truth to it, know that you CAN changed that. And then set to work aking a more perfect you.

Another is the perceived damage, remedy and justice for white collar crime, which I think is not looked at harshly enough.
Judge Cannon and Judge Kasmerick (sp?) expose another problem, appointing highly partisan judges who do not follow the law as intended but are looking for loop holes to further their ideology’s or career.

He was shot to death outside his Ottawa boarding house by a Fenian (Irish nationalist) in 1868 -- the Fenians considered him a traitor to their cause of an Ireland free from Bitish rule. Pierre Laporte was a journalist, lawyer and politician and Liberal deputy Premier of Quebec. In 1970 he was kidnapped by Quebec separatists from the Front de Liberation du Quebec, and strangled to death after he attempted to escape. This was so sad because he was a family man who was the sole support of his wife, mother, and large brood of children.

Similarly, NO-ONE on the left --especially not Harris--has entertained the kind of violent fantasies we hear from Trump and the right. Calling out the hateful speech by the right is NOT the same thing as expressing toleramce for violence. I'm shocked at the "both sides" emphasis in this discussion. No-one on the left is filing lawsuits to position themselves to overturn the election if Trump wins. No-one on the left is sending armies of partisan poll watchers to harrass election workers. No-one on the Left is threatening Republican secretaries of state. The false equivalence in Dr Pape's discussion here is mind-boggling. 1) Right after WW1 during which…after USA entry…there was severe anti-German freedom of speech legislation and public opinion.
    2) Right after major pandemic.
    3) Significant anti-immigration sentiment. Passage of the Anti-Immigration law of 1924 which more or less ended the “great” period of early 20th century.
    4) Prohibition.
    5) Rise of the KKK…who were extremely nativist AND pro-prohibition. The KKK of that period were very Christian nationalist.
    6) Rise of anarchist political violence.
    7) Nationwide “middle American” endorsements of the use of police-state tactics to crack down on organized labor strikes. There was an overall belief that “organized labor” was a communist threat that was infecting the country from a “sick left-wing Europe”…probably over represented by Jews.
    8) It didn’t help that there was this “thing” in post-war Europe called “Russian Civil War”.
A decade later, the Nazis were saying Europe should be grateful to them for acting as a bulwark against the “spread of Communism” from the East. Many in western Europe and the USA agreed.

Nobody can access ballot boxes other than at the time they vote in person, surrounded by lots of other people at a centre.

Please…. First off, if you’re only asking this question now, you are most definitely not paying attention. Secondly, if you’re asking not only IF there will be violence, but about another 1/6, you’re REALLY not paying attention.
I gladly voted for Harris/Walz. I am not advocating violence by any stretch of the imagination. But yes, MAGA folks have more guns than non MAGA’s. And therefore, yes… how do you counter violence? If it comes to it, you literally fight fire with fire. You defend what is right. You fight the good fight.
And all of this is Based. On. A. Lie.

I'm a little surprised that the professor chooses to focus on race as a source of right-wing political angst. It seems that an equally likely explanation is loss of blue collar manufacturing jobs in our industrial heartland.

When comparing the risk of fires is low, moderate to high and that there is no way to measure for the public the risk factors of violence in this election. For National Security threats we have DefCon levels. Perhaps something similar should be instituted.

Excellent interview. Rarely any political or historical analyst has clearly said what its expert is saying, which we all know for a fact. Every political analyst that people flock to Trump because of the education divide or other silly preferences which makes no sense. But what this expert is is the real reason. No pollster wants to do a poll on why people are flocking to Trump and if the changing demographic is the real reason. I have not seen a single poll which asks this important question
