The greatest female pop voice of the 20th Century, pitch perfect. And a bad-ass drummer too! She always considered herself a drummer more than a singer.
BrosReact0151 both of you are too cute! The reactions are even cuter! The Carpenters are still worth listening to and appreciating 💜 it’s almost as though she’s singing just for you... to this day I miss them I’m so sorry about your friend...🙏
I remember one time a woman saying she was in a grocery store shopping and one of Karen's songs came over the p a system and almost immediately, everyone in the store kind of stopped shopping. The carts stopped moving and shoppers were milling in the aisles, just looking at the shelves while taking in the song! As soon as the song was over, it was back to shopping again. How many artist, with just their voice, can bring a crowd like that to a stand still, out of the blue, after all these years?
Such a velvet voice. Pure liquid gold.. She poured her heart out everytime she sang. What an angelic voice. The music world lost the best female vocalist of all time. The female vocalist of today cant touch her..
No vocal gymnastics like today's over produced vocalists. Just simple, direct, Angelic beauty! Possibly greatest vocalist ever for me. No one can come close to her soulful perfection.
I remember the Carpenters from my childhood. I always thought that Karen's voice was so effortless -- like honey melting on warm toast. It makes my so sad that her life ended before it should have. But the fact that you young people are bringing her legacy to a new generation is heart warming. Everyone should hear her beautiful voice.
Yeah, i remember when Karen died it was shocking!! People really didn't think of Anorexia as a disease back in the 70's and early 80's, but after Karen's death people started taking Anorexia much more serious!! Karen had the most beautiful voice i have ever heard !! Rip Karen !!!
Thank you guys for showing us old farts that you blokes do know what was good about our era. It is always portrayed as cheesy. But the talent blows so many away now days.
so glad to see you guys discovering the magic that was The Carpenters!!! We need to get back to those days of Amazing music. Im glad I was blessed to have lived during those days
It is so refreshing to watch two young guys like yourselves responding so positively to a fabulous singer who was part of my childhood. Watching you responding to her reminds me how I felt about her music all those years ago. Thank you. I also really appreciated the heart-felt and sensitive comments you made about eating disorders and I was sorry to hear about your friend. Well done and good luck with your channel!
Her voice is clear, the low notes is just wow... I could follow The Carpenters songs easily... Hard though...choked halfway...tears in my eyes... Practically grew up listening and simply love them still...irreplaceable Thanks BrosReact0151
"As a record producer and Karen were walking out of a restaurant in LA, John Lennon was walking in. John stopped and just said to Karen: “I want to tell you love, I think you’ve got a fabulous voice”, and he just walked on. Karen couldn’t quite believe what had just happened. She kept asking Nicky Chinn if he thought John Lennon really meant it. He had to reassure her that of course he did. Why else would he say it?”
One of my fave bands, Karen had a beautiful voice like silk, I have a greatest hits CD of theirs. Glad you guys are bringing legends back , great job guys.👌
I’m really glad you have devoted time to listen to The Carpenters...it’s so moving to see young people-like yourselves appreciate these timeless numbers. There’s so much to learn about this “dynamic duo”...and check out the movie “About A Boy”...!
Love you guys comments, so respectful and mature for your young ages, kudos! I’m a fan now! This is how you react to great, classic music! Some people can take a lesson. Grew up during this era as a kid, I remember all these classics, still listen to this day. This was music at its finest, raw talent, no autotune, no dancing in skimpy outfits and costumes. They either had the talent or they didn’t make it. What do we have to listen to today, really? Nothing. Glad to see you both appreciating it,
Yet this generation hails Halsey, Aurora, Katy Perry...those they think have "unique" voices. Karen Carpenter for me possesses the PERFECT female singing voice. Pure, crystal clear, velvety, soft yet powerful...
It's not just her voice though it's the fact you can actually understand the lyrics and the story she's telling. The arrangements and phases of her songs makes, it all makes Katy Perry and others look like children playing with a new toy...i.e... music today sucks in all genres.
@@larryburnham5918 I still find some gems in today's music but yeah like expensive gems, they are so rare... I particularly like these current musicians who are not so popular but are significantly waaay better than conventional 2019 pop "artists": Paolo Nutini Corrine Bailey Rae Rumer The Loose Salute Silver Torches Leon Bridges Michael Kiwanuka Etc...
Great to see people now days appreciate this music and can recognize the the pure singing voices. I grew up listening to the Carpenters and they were(and still are) my favorite group from that time.its bitter sweet to listen to Karen sing and think about how her life was cut short ͏b͏y anorexia. Everything hat I have read about it was that she was actually recovering from it but her heart was so damaged by it it finally gave out and we all lost one of(if not the) greatest pure singing voice of our t8me. Keep up the great work and I’ll be subscribing 👍
This is a clever channel. It's nice to see young people appreciating actual musicians and singing. Absolutely adorable keep up the good work I just subscribed when I saw your last video Karen Carpenter was the first time you ever saw her I think.
I appreciate you guys sharing your choices on the Carpenters!! Talented musicians are always great no matter what they look like! It’s about the music and it’s sounds!! Thank you so much for taking and sharing your time!!
It’s tragic what’s happened with the pop music industry and image today. Video really did kill the radio star. So many great artists wouldn’t have been given a second look because they couldn’t be made into the right ‘look’, or weren’t also coordinated enough to dance they way society thinks needs to happen today. Forget looks, forget ‘moves’ ... what about their ARTISTRY? Can they SING? Can they emote? Can they draw you in and take you on a journey just with their voice? The rest is just window dressing.
Nice to see you guys continuing on your journey that I started 40 years ago...was a 12 year old washing my dad's car with the radio on when this song came on the airwaves..I didn't know who it was but imagined that's what an angel would sing like from heaven..made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up on the high notes and sent a shiver down the spine on the low notes..takes an incredible talent to sing as flawlessly as this and playing the drums at the same time is even more remarkable...Rainy Days & Mondays hit no:2 on the US billboard hot 100, as did your previous review of We've Only Just Begun..there are also 3 number ones that you haven't reviewed yet, together with a batch of others that all made their way into the top:10..Here in the UK both of these songs featured on their album The Singles: 69-73..it was one of the best selling albums of the decade and spent over 4 months at no:1 on 4 different occasions and remained on the UK album chart for 2.5 years after it was released..the enduring appeal of their music is still very evident in the UK today and compilations of their songs on subsequent albums topped the UK charts in 1990..reached no:4 in 2004 and no:2 in 2014...quality songs like these just get bigger and bigger over time and it just goes to show that you don't need to shriek your head off to sing a song as most female vocalists do nowadays.
Beyond amazing, no singer has touched my heart & soul the way Karen had. Song after song, she was consistent in her flawless angelic delivery. With very little, if any practice & rehearsal, most of her work was recorded on first take. That is why she is the Best singer who ever lived 👼
She was so talented: song writer, drummer, singer and more. It’s so sad she never got the help she needed. I grew up listening to her and her songs helped me through a lot. RIP Karen🌸🌈💖

Her perfect pitch seems effortless. Extraordinary.
Her pitch wasn't perfect. No one is perfect in the pop world. But she ranks up there with Patsy Cline, Ann Wilson, and Dionne Warwick.
I do believe she had the greatest voice I have ever heard. I am told she preferred to be a drummer. I do know she was quite good at the drums.
She leaves you speechless how beautiful she sings this song

I love the accent of these two,..Karen Carpenter,..I listend to her when I was young and I was taken by how CLEAR and beautiful her voice was
Karen's voice is just like warm velvet. I've never heard anyone with that kind of tone. Her vibrato is perfection and it sounds so easy.
She was so talented: song writer, drummer, singer and more.

Karen's voice is frozen in time with anyone who was growing up in the seventies. There's no better voice in my opinion.

If Silk could Sing...
Love this song. Karen’s gorgeous voice/drumming. Richard’s beautiful arrangements ❤❤
She could do the songs in 1 take in the studio, singing was 2nd to her drumming. She was asked to try singing one night. And the rest is history !
Perfect song 4 my Monday~ so pure~ keep up the good tunes, guys🖤.So sorry abt ur lovely friend.
thank you we appreciate it 👍
Karen was actually a drummer but was persuaded to become the vocalist much against her will. In fact it was not Anorexia that actually killed her but the punishment her internal organs suffered, including her heart, as a direct result of the medication they used in those days. The real tragedy is she was actually on the mend when she died. One of the saddest and most tragic losses to the world. Best voice ever ❤️

Karen sang beautifully but her heart was in drumming...you should check out some videos of her playing...phenomenal!
Goosebumps 😭😭😭
A angel it’s hard for us light beings!
Literal man tears here 😭😭😭
Such a beautiful song ,period.
Some of the best songs are about subjects that are not very nice like ‘Every breath you take ‘ is about stalking . It’s modern poetry.
Beautiful
Voice of silk _ Karen Carpenter 😊👌
The way she holds that final note heartbreaking
Thanks for listening to Karen Carpenter. Hope you listen to more of her songs
