They are not going to be everywhere, #1 everybody can't climb a ladder and drill #2 everybody is not going to pay people #3 its just not that many skill people out out here
The 200ft pro version does come with the driver module you need to run 200ft altogether in both the white and black version. If you order any other lengths you do not have access to the driver module yet till next year. Not sure why but I have my 200’ in black version and it has the driver module and saw a video of the white version with it as well
Ok, good to know. So if I wanted to upgrade to 200' the 100' options will need to wait for the driver. I hope they come out with an expansion kit so I can add that top section.
better to beg forgiveness than ask permission for something like this. If you think it’s cool just do it as Nike says. I save up husband points and get away with stuff like this. 😈
best review of these I seen so far. From the LED spacing to the individual led controller. Well Done. I was thinking of mounting these via magnet (attached to each LED) to my galvanized drip edge. It would be a different look since the LEDs would be facing the street and not facing downward. I wish these were a bit cheaper. Hope after Xmas they will be heavily discounted.
I'm glad the warranty is 3 years on these. I have about a dozen of the IP65 Govee outdoor string lights and several have gone bad, including some outside of the 1 year warranty. I don't think I'd trust Govee with anything permanent right now, but maybe that's just me. What also concerns me is that the LEDs are connected in a way that doesn't make them user replaceable without splicing. So, thinking ahead with a situation where a light fails, and we'll assume it's within 3 years, they replace the whole string under warranty. So it seems like you are either cutting the old light out and replacing with the new, which obviously won't look as good as original, on top of the fact that you are doing it where the bulb failed, which is maybe on the roof - yuck. Or you get on your house again to replace the entire string, which also isn't the best solution. For *ME* I have a single-family ranch, so while it'd be a small PIA, it's not the worst thing in the world. The cost would stop me from buying this particular string, so I'm hoping newer iterations fix some of what I see as shortcomings, not to mention bring the price way down. For $700 I definitely would have expected better. Optionally, maybe something that adheres a magnet that the light snaps to. This'd not only make it easier to take down seasonally or if you had to remodel, and replacing them if you had a failure. That being an optional kit for what, $20 or something would be neat. I'm guessing they did the calculations and didn't think the cost was worth it to connect the lights to each other with connectors instead of hard wired, so not only could they just ship out the replacement light and nothing else, but it's so much easier for the user to replace. I'd feel a lot better if we knew what the MTBF of these lights were with the product as-is. Neat idea, and I'd love to have something like this. I'm so glad Govee and other companies are releasing products like this. Thanks for the video, Brett!
the only good thing about Govee is their support, I bought some indoors string lights when they first came out, 3 weeks later some LEDs went bad, if I recall correctly, they lost their blue tone, got a replacement from them, they also went bad, then I just got my money back.
you should replace the controller with weld, i’ve seen others do it and you can do special effects, you can still add it to anything you want with home assistant
What kind of special effects? The Govee App not able to do i guess. We bought the 100ft Pro..I heard the Pro doesn't work with some 3rd party controllers like WLED because of the dedicated soft white leds.
How did you play with the placement before deciding on the final one? Did you use the sticky backing it comes with and were able to remove and replace or did you use something else?
Govee will put me in the poor house (albeit a pretty house). I have the standard Permanent lights in the front and back yard...so far. Flood lights and path lights. Lot's of strings and TV backlighting in the house. I would like to split my front yard ones where I have an area that have lights that don't look like they belong there. Another good one Brett!
Quick question about the power. Does the box everything connects to have go inside the garage or can it sit outside by the outlet? Assuming it's weatherproof as well?
Hey man, thanks for this video. Thinking of getting this one pro version. If you don't mind asking, what size and brand of ladder you have on this video? Thanks!
The one with the orange tips is a Little Giant Ladder and I think it is the 22'. You're not technically supposed to extend it all the way up like that but it works. (Affiliate) amzn.to/3N0ulgb
It was on aluminum but I went through and put clips on each side of the light and screwed them in so if the adhesive fails they won't fall down. The adhesive was pretty hard to remove though if I needed to reposition a light.
Update: The 200' model does come with the Driver to power all 200'. And you can have them automatically turn on at sunset by using the Automations tab. The 100ft Pro inventory has pretty limited stock so if it becomes available you can change the parameters of this link to find it: geni.us/GoveePro200W (affiliate)
Brett… I just bought a 200 and 100ft length to splice a little over 200 together in one long run. Is that not possible without this power extender you talked about? When will that come out from govee or any more details? Thank you!
So I guess it is already included in the 200' kit. So you should add it at 150'. I'm not sure how much further you can take it past 200'. Possibly 250'. Or you can set up each set separately and then link them together with Dreamview. Or use 150' on each power adapter.
I have seen a few examples of that here on TH-cam but none that are specifically made for these. Might take a bit of work to do that but would look nice.
Do you know if the LED strips expect the current flow in a single-direction? I am getting a green blinking LED on the power adaptor and only a partial section of my 12 strips are working, not sure what's wrong. The govee app can't detect all the strings it looks like.
You would just use one of the included extension cables. They can easily connect together and then you can cut them to length to make them the right size.
I went to the bag of 100 clips you purchased , but I cannot see them well enough to know how you installed them. Was this for the wire or the light puck ? Could you maybe show a photo of them on your installation ? Thanks very much. I’ve been considering the 3D printer mounts that screw in but they are expensive.
Sorry I forgot to include that in the video. They have a little adhesive stop to help you line it up on each side of the light. Then they have a part with a gap that goes over the cord. There is a little hole over the adhesive part that you screw in with the included screens. Using a small drill bit to puncture a hole helps this process. I'll post a picture for you later today.
Have you had any issues with these? After many months of use, mine just died. I have received replacement parts from govee but still nothing works. I thought it was a power supply issue but now I don't know.
Ayye... nice. I love my Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro. And at least in my experience... so does the algorithm lol. Video blew up. Hope it's the same for you.
@@TechWithBrett man I LOVE the colors. I got this thing running 24/7 and I can’t tell you how many neighbors approached me and said that they loved them lol. And I noticed like 5 other houses out here that have them so far too.
I believe you have the Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 which is the newest model Govee has. The difference is the 2500K is a very warm light where 4000K is more middle of the scale on warm but looks very nice year round. Sorry about my rounding, it is a personal problem. I guess when you compare the 100 Ft model of different options. The 200 ft is significantly more which is the only one in stock right now.

When I was finally able to get the 100ft Black pro...they wouldn't allow a 2nd set to be purchased. The 200ft was not available. I called Govee and the rep told me the 100ft Black Pro sold out in a few hours. I was checking 3 or 4 times a day before I lucked out... the privilege of spending $539 cdn...sheesh 🙄 They do look great and my wife really likes the App that controls them. Also setup the 100ft standard in white for my Moms house. She loves them. Got those for $260 on Black Friday sale down from $400.
Thank you for showing how the lighting would look with different placements from the wall

Just say you’ll stop the cash flow that’s required to keep the house, electric, and food on the table. Works every time!
Ask permission from your wife, to do something on your own house? Are you kidding? Grow a set and do it, then show her what you did 🙄
nice job, great details and explanation. My son in law and I are installing tomorrow.

I just used the 3M on the back and it comes with smares so I then removed the ones I tried and put on the new stuff for the final placement.
looks great, you should definitely do that last peak
perfect timing i just bought a set and coming on monday so this was the video i was looking for to set up my lights.

Good catch! Eufy couldn't do the warm white with other colors which was odd.

if I was to buy a 100' because of where my power is can I go about 75 feet one way and the other 25" go the opposite direction ?

I understand you can cut them. But if you want to EXTEND a blank distance what wire can you use ?
You would just use one of the included extension cables. They can easily connect together and then you can cut them to length to make them the right size.
Hello brett, how long i can cut and extend it in between if i want to get it to the second floor
I guess if you needed a long run to the second floor you could use all the extensions on one run that is about a 20' length.
I think you are wrong about 200’ kit mine arrive today the driver is included from my understanding
Oh really? That's great to hear! I read on their listing multiple times that it wasn't available yet so the new inventory must have it.
