CookiePeriodt no, you’re not weird. I felt bad for Edward and the way everyone was treating him aswell. Like, I just wanted to slap some of the other characters across the face-
I live in Florida, when the movie was being filmed I wasnt born yet but my mom who was a huge fan of Johnny Depp at the time was at the shopping center where they filmed part of the movie, and at first she didn't recognize him in his Edward get up and she actually said "I'd hate to be the guy in the leather jumpsuit, it's like 100 degrees out here!"
This movie came out when I was 11 years old, and I remember that I fell so, so, so hard in love with Johnny Depp after seeing it. I was like completely enamored. At a time before the internet where I couldn't even talk with other fans about it because I didn't know anyone else who liked the movie as much as I did, and at the time I was too embarrassed to tell anyone how infatuated I was XD

My 10-year-old and I watched it last night, and it's the first movie that made her cry. She understood it, and she loves it.
@Rand V Oh, HONEY, I love when someone who is 24 thinks they know about the earl internet. What came out in 1983 wasn't the internet that you're thinking of. It was only available to universities and researchers, and it wasn't used to communicate with people or socialize. It was used to access research articles and the like via hyperlinks and available to a closed (inter) network (net). The World Wide Web (meant for the WORLD), which could be used for personal contact, was released in 1991, and access was privileged. Most home computers weren't compatible with it, and those who had computers that could run it and the ability to connect to the WWW were charged an hourly fee. This didn't change until the very end of 1996. Until then, the WWW wasn't used for socializing or chatting with fans of movies. You paid $9.95 for the first five hours a month, then $2.95 per hour after that. That would be about $17 and $5 today accounting for inflation. When AOL started a monthly flat fee of $19.95, or about $35 today, those who had computers that would run the WWW started connecting, but there was a catch. It would tie up your phone line, and the connection was so incredibly slow that people often kept books at their computers to read while "image heavy" pages loaded. It could take a couple minutes for a single photo, which is why so many early webpages used lots of bright neon colors instead. That loaded faster. You don't understand the difference between the internet and the world wide web. Despite calling them both "the internet" now, they weren't the same things at all, and technically still aren't. When Edward Scissorhands came out, there literally were NOT websites for movie fans, and the internet was literally for rich people only, and even they didn't have websites for people to bullshit around on. At that time, the internet was a research tool. So, HONEY, I really suggest you take a step back and stop pretending that your conceited Gen Z self knows anything about the early internet and WWW, especially when talking to people who were there, and stop patronizing those who were. You were well over a decade from even being. a sperm in your dad's nuts in 1991. Go ask him what his favorite websites were to visit in the 1980's, and even he will tell you that the internet (as you're thinking of it, aks the WWW) wasn't available yet.
Silorion although the ending is sad but I satisfied with that.. cause it would be more sad if Edward and Kim together while Edward immortal and Kim grow old and die.. Edward would be more lonely after that.. this ambiguous ending is great for me
Fun fact my mom is best friends with one of the actors who played Rinona Riders friends. It was pretty cool listening to her talking about how deep Johnny got to get in his role.
I don't know why I always got a Jim Carrey feel from this movie. I think it's because it reminds me a lot of the Truman Show, with the perfect homes and everything.

#8 ~ And I'm really surprised this one wasn't mentioned. Turns out that the studio execs. had only agreed to Vincent Price being on set for just a handful of days to shoot all the scenes he was in. Burton had shot so many takes of those scenes that Price had to stay on longer than expected. And of course, had to be paid for those extra days. The execs. were so angry about this that they went down to see Burton. They insisted he wrap up those scenes right away and get rid of Price. Unfortunately, Price overheard what they were saying and it really upset him. (Especially as after his real death, it was revealed that Price worried about money all his Life. And even worried he'd die penniless or even worse that he'd run out of money and end up on the streets.) Burton though was furious with the studio execs. and their demands. (Along with how they were disrespecting such an accomplished actor back in the day, as Vincent Price.) Burton basically laid down the law, told the execs. to screw off, and told them Price was staying as long as it took for him (Burton) to be satisfied with the scenes Price was in. The execs. left with their tails between their legs.
Yay Burton! Price was brilliant and everyone; dark, gloomy, misunderstood, from our generation related to Price. So few role models back then. Price or no-one!
Hahaha, yes it was. They butchered the original story. It was style over substance, except the style wasn’t even good. It was just bad Tim Burtonisms and terrible CGI
@Rose _vine It was shitty. Tim Burton has made some crappy movies, let's be honest. Even Steven Spielberg has made shitty movies. And "Alice in Wonderland" makes no sense. The Nostalgia Critic has a pretty good video, pointing out its flaws. I always found it strange everyone loved that movie, when it wasn't Alice in Wonderland, it was a sequel to Alice in Wonderland.
@@kjullthedemon I mean, Alice in wonderland in general was an acid trip, I really don’t think it was meant to make sense. The live action movie is cemented in reality. Kinda
Edward Scissorhands is my favorite Tim Burton movie. However, why fit Edward with scissorhands to begin with? Especially if you plan on replacing them at a later time? At least the inventor could have given Edward something safer to use as hands in the meantime, like maybe spoons or mannequin hands or anything else that's not sharp and clumsy.
Yep... we see the machine in one those those flashbacks with Vincent Price.. so much love for this movie yet so many people just don't seem to understand it.

I saw this back in 1999 and it opened up my interest in gothic art and literature and goth aesthetics. I was just five years old in 99 and the film has stayed with me pretty much my entire life.
edward scissor hands is a beautifully crafted, eye watering, masterpiece. it balances love, acceptance and sadness all in one precious film. really moving and incredibly sweet. tim burton really did it all in this film. hats off to him.
Edward Scissorhands was also Vincent Price's last movie. The producers almost fired him because he was so ill from emphysema that he was having problems getting his scenes filmed. Burton, wanting to keep Price on cut the actor's scenes down to 3 and Price was able to complete his part.

I guess its rlly just personal opinions, I get if you weren't into fantasy and stuff like that, u probably just wouldn't enjoy it but I just dont get people that call it shitty. Even if your not into that kind of thing calling it shitty is suggesting that it was made poorly or is generally just not good, but even if your not into it u can still clearly see that it is directed well, is acted amazingly, and complements the story extremely well. I personally think its amazing. Ok that's my rant over
@@carys.bridges4696 Exactly. I understand why some people might not like the movie (hell, when I was younger I never even got past where she fell into the rabbit hole), but it's clear there was _effort_ put into it. People throw the word "shitty" around far too often, and most of the time it's because they can't seem to come up w valid criticism as to why. I think the movie is great, and it's okay if others don't. But "shitty," like you said, insinuates the idea of it being "poorly made," when that movie was anything but.
Okay, not gonna lie. But I would've loved to have seen MJ as Edward scissorhands! Don't get me wrong Johnny Depp did an amazing job and I wouldn't change it, but I would at least liked to have seen MJ dressed as Edward. Like he had the soft voice and shy persona just like Edward.
Johnny Depp: I had to sit in hair and makeup for two hours everyday. Jim Carrey, Rebecca Romijn, Ron Perlman, Jamie Campbell: Pfft, amateur. (This is just a joke).
For those of you talking about abuse. It was all a lie. She did it for the money. The police proved the abuse was a lie. Johnny's exes backed him up and Amber's exes said Amber was a liar and a known abuser. She dropped the charges as soon as she got what she wanted...money. She is not a victim and he is not an abuser.
Once spoke with the head Sound Designer of Edward Scissorhands. He said the actual prop hands made god awful crunching/grinding noises. And they had to carefully replace the sounds of his hands with foley recordings of swords, knives, shears, and scissors. Apparently they looked far and wide to find the most "ethereal" sounding blades to do this.
Troy McIver: That way they can piss away the budget on Special Effects and have very little money left over to hire decent Screenwriters. Hence the lame-ass plot lines that permeates a vast majority of movies made in the U.S. today.
Uh because its more cost and time effective and people can’t tell the difference because the technology is that well developed... Guess you’re not in the industry, moron.
Another thing to note is that Burton was heavily inspired by a 1920 German horror movie “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari,” for the aesthetic of Edward and his castle. Look it up it’s cool
I was surprised to see that not one time, legendary horror actor Vincent Price was never mentioned even though this movie was one of his last rolls. He played Edward's creator.
i would love to see a Beetlejuice one for sure! I enjoy watching these videos and i learn a lot of things that i didn't actually know about some of these movies
Lakeland, FL. They shot the barber shop scene at the Southgate Shopping Center on Florida Ave S (currently and always has been one of the original Publix stores anchoring. Beautiful 60s style shopping center.
Seeing Anthony Michael Hall as a jock reminded me that he was a dork in The Breakfast Club. Which also reminded me that Emilio Estevez played a jock in The Breakfast Club and a dork in The Mighty Ducks.
I really have to give this video props because I thought I knew everything there was to know about this movie but you guys proved me wrong. I knew the castle was a miniature but I didn't know the specifics of how they got it to appear perfectly when she turns the car mirror. Also, I didn't know about Johnny Depp throwing up after 20 takes of the food scene. He was a real trooper through this film. Totally deserved an Oscar, if only for having to wear that uncomfortable costume in the unforgiving Florida heat.
Vincent Price (one of Tim Burton's idols) is shown as the creator who dies before completing Edward. This was the last scene of Vincent Price's film career before passing away.
Did you know the film is seen through Edwards eyes, the reason the town looks so bright and perfect, is because that's how it looked to Edward.

YES!! Please do Beatlejuice! But in the meantime, how amazing would Oldman have been as Edward??
Okay, not gonna lie. But I would've loved to have seen MJ as Edward scissorhands! Don't get me wrong Johnny Depp did an amazing job and I wouldn't change it, but I would at least liked to have seen MJ dressed as Edward. Like he had the soft voice and shy persona just like Edward.
no!
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, BEETLEJUICE !
Betelgeuse*
@@Walter-fg7rq that's not how u spell it 🤣
Kaitlin Howie yeah it is... look it up bruv
@wiloh ah ok
@wiloh yeah lmao and I really doesn’t matter are you spell it, has long has we understand it
Someone in 7th grade told me I looked like Edward Scissorhands. I believed them because I spent most of that year sleep deprived.
Things you didn't know about Edward scissor hands....
They used practical effects and cut some dogs hair. Great stuff.
Kirin 👏👏👏
I'm also underwhelmed by this video.
I like to watch the movie someday but to me, Edward Scissorhands is the most kind hearted and sympathetic movie characters of all time.
Gary Oldman as Edward? Yeah, I can see that.
Johnny Depp: I had to sit in hair and makeup for two hours everyday.
Jim Carrey, Rebecca Romijn, Ron Perlman, Jamie Campbell: Pfft, amateur.
(This is just a joke).
Imagine thinking of Johnny Depp as “just another teenage heart throb”
Vincent Price, the actor playing the father of Edward, was Tim Burton's idol for ages and he felt so honoured that he worked with him
For those of you talking about abuse. It was all a lie. She did it for the money. The police proved the abuse was a lie. Johnny's exes backed him up and Amber's exes said Amber was a liar and a known abuser. She dropped the charges as soon as she got what she wanted...money. She is not a victim and he is not an abuser.
At least someone knows and believes the damn truth. Thank you!
And now the whole world knows this thank goodness
Once spoke with the head Sound Designer of Edward Scissorhands. He said the actual prop hands made god awful crunching/grinding noises. And they had to carefully replace the sounds of his hands with foley recordings of swords, knives, shears, and scissors. Apparently they looked far and wide to find the most "ethereal" sounding blades to do this.
Why would you even use CGI for a simple practical effect even NOW?
Right it's just a hair cut lol
LOL was wondering the same, like wtf m8
G Note Unfortunately they do and that's why movies these days are so crap.Like so fake you cant believe any of what is going on.
Look it up it’s cool
nice nod to Monty Python "It's only a model" can't wait to see the inevitable follow of of seven MORE things about Edward Scissorhands
I was surprised to see that not one time, legendary horror actor Vincent Price was never mentioned even though this movie was one of his last rolls. He played Edward's creator.

Is Alice in Wonderland bad? I love that movie I think it's one of the best to me
The castle was a miniature was so obvious. And the overview shot of the town at the start of the movie too.
i would love to see a Beetlejuice one for sure! I enjoy watching these videos and i learn a lot of things that i didn't actually know about some of these movies
Watched this for the millionth time yesterday and i Still feel so much empathy for Edward 😢🤣💗
I thought it would totally be mentioned that Winona Ryder is actually blonde, for real.
Edward is such a sweetheart
Have you done a "7 things you didn't know about CineFix"?
Probably! 😉
+TheJenSolo lol nice one
Nick M Number 1: It ruins the most beautiful film in the world
The amount of work Johnny put into this role, it should have won awards.
I think anyone can agree Michael Jackson would have been EPIC
Yes!!! However, casting Tom Cruise would’ve been horrid! TG that didn’t happen!
Too freaking shy!
U have my last name
no
@@toni-en7xm LMAO trueeeeee, especially when he (Johnny Depp) says "I can't." to Kim (Winona Ryder) when she asks him to hold her.
Johnny actually wore the scissorhands for extended periods of time to be authentic..great job Johnny, one of my favorite movies!!
Johnny also owns the suit
4:49 wait so Woody, The Grinch, Iron Man, and the King of Pop volunteered to be Edward Scissorhands?
Definitely one of my favorite movies of all times. I'm definitely glad I live in the town were the movie was filmed.
I love all of these "Things you didn't know". You should do the First two RoboCop's. 😁😁😁😁😎
Epic comment!
Thanx bro
They did cover the first Robocop back in 2014, but they really should cover the second one.
I forgot they did the first one
Why not the 3rd? Just because Peter Weller wasn't in it doesn't mean it was total crap.
Lakeland, FL. They shot the barber shop scene at the Southgate Shopping Center on Florida Ave S (currently and always has been one of the original Publix stores anchoring. Beautiful 60s style shopping center.
The part where Joyce was trying to "seduce" Edward made me almost cry. I felt bad bc he was so innocent (ik he wasn't real)
My Favorite Movie of alll time!!! ❤
I'm in the town, now, that Edward Scissorhands was filmed in. :-)
I saw this movie when I was five and it spooked the shit out of me, I couldn't sleep for weeks!!
Yes do Beetlejuice that use to be my favorite movie when I was a kid!
Seeing Anthony Michael Hall as a jock reminded me that he was a dork in The Breakfast Club. Which also reminded me that Emilio Estevez played a jock in The Breakfast Club and a dork in The Mighty Ducks.
Why can't Edward scissor hands can't run...
Don't run with scissors
lmao
Lol
I really have to give this video props because I thought I knew everything there was to know about this movie but you guys proved me wrong. I knew the castle was a miniature but I didn't know the specifics of how they got it to appear perfectly when she turns the car mirror. Also, I didn't know about Johnny Depp throwing up after 20 takes of the food scene. He was a real trooper through this film. Totally deserved an Oscar, if only for having to wear that uncomfortable costume in the unforgiving Florida heat.
Incredibly strange movie concept if you think about it
Vincent Price (one of Tim Burton's idols) is shown as the creator who dies before completing Edward. This was the last scene of Vincent Price's film career before passing away.
Beetlejuice...
Beetlejuice!
BEETLE-FUCKIN-JUICE!!!
Beetlejuice!
Fuuuuuuuucccckk.... what have I done.....
It's Showtime
I started rolling on my floor laughing when he so casually said bits of Tim burtons sofa.
They should make an Edward Scissorhands sitcom
This is the first English movie i ever watched. It makes me realise how good my childhood was. ❤ Johny Deep from Nepal.
This was also Vincent Price's last movie
just imagining Gary Oldman as Edward, blows my mind more than the other choices
YES PLEASE DO BEETLEJUICE !!!!
He's freaking amazing.
Especially with his hands.
He can cut my hair lmao
Beatle Juice, Beatle Juice, Beatle Juice! I said 3 times now he must appear in his own 7 things..
*Beetle. Beatle is the band
***** ha, damn auto correct. My bad.
It's actually spelled Betelgeuse, just pronounced Beetle Juice.
CineFix is on a roll with awesome vids!
YASSSS GIVE MY BOY ROBERT SMITH CREDIT
There couldn't be a better actor in the world of actors that could play Edward better.
robert smith yay!
!!!
I believe this can work as a peak example for elements and imagination/freshness that movies have lacked for going on 10 or 15 years now
Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! BEETLEJUICE!
but the original concept for Beetlegeuse was terrifying
Beatlejuice Beatlejuice Beatlejuice! Great video! Scissorhands is one of my favorite films of all time.
