Well yeah...until they let go a key reason the band achieved most of it's success. Tuomas and Tarja were an unbeatable team...sadly neither act is anywhere close to what it was when they were together IMO

It's written from the point of view of a current civilization as seen by a future one, anytime. As we see the runes or the mayans, sometime from this time we'll be seen by someone. Hopefully.

It's rare that a band can have it's best artistic achievement after 25 years, but Nightwish somehow took it to another level with this album. Simply breathtaking!
There's something morbidly grandiose about recognizing our own specie's impact on the whole planet, let alone having it put in such a poetic, melodic, almost tranquil way. But this seems to be the way Tuomas thinks and has been thinking, not of his own life alone, but our collective existence. Since Dark Passion Play the lyrics have warped from obvious suicidal thoughts to oblivion of all that is. Guess we should start preparing? Or repent? Or whatever we atheists actually do when facing imminent demise... screw around and do drugs?

Yeah, I never understood that line. But last I saw a documentary about history of the Earth and pikaia were fishlike creatures from the Cambrian explosion. They were the first creatures with something akin of a spine.

What I noticed about myself whenever I listen to new Nightwish music:
The first reaction is most definitely an abundance of goosebumps. Then the melodies and the lyrics start sinking in. After that I start noticing the intricate details Tuomas likes to hide in his compositions. And then, only then does listening to the new material become a full experience. That is why I love this band and will most likely be listening to them until the day I leave this pale blue theatre stage.

As an hobby botanist i agree completly. The problem is it arent only the well known big wild cats who are endagered, but also unspectacular plants and animals 99% of the people even dont know they exist. Its all about protecting untouched nature against economical interests, and thats so difficult, if you eg. show them a plant that for them just looks like a common thistle, but isnt common at all.

This is one of the beautifulest songs i've ever heard, and this whole album is the greatest album for awhile.

Powerful song, powerful message. Floor is again making use of her amazing ability to project emotions. A beautiful melody about a sad subject. Tuomas doesn't shy away from putting the spotlight on bad things. I prefer this kind of song to most of the "baby, love, tears, yada, yada" you hear today. Truly magnificent.

Damn guys this whole album is beautiful. The first time you hear the songs they just seem good but the scond time you gets ghoosebumps and many times I was in tears
So damn real. The ones who says this is the weakest song is because they clearly didn't understand the message. Which clearly explains why the world is how it is and this is the reason why they've written this song. Music is above all pure poetry not just something u can use to shake your head back and forth.
They all are like that. Every Nightwish song. Find me one that isn't an ode to a concept too grand to express in any way save music.

Totalmente de acuerdo, no soy exactamente fan del rumbo que Nightwish ha tomado desde el 2015, pero no por eso voy a negar que este álbum tiene piezas bastante especiales, como esta canción que tal vez puede sentirse algo simple para los propios parámetros de la banda, pero yo creo que no necesita ser mas, es la simplicidad lo que la hace especial, dejando que el mensaje cantado por Floor de una forma que no la acostumbramos a escuchar antes sean lo verdaderamente demoledor de la canción :)
This song is the apex not only og Nightwish, but probably storytelling in general, like the musical equivalent to One Hundred Years of Solitude. How can we not tell the song and the /band/ themselves were not orchestrated across space and time by an advanced form of life to give us this message? It's literally /impossible/ for us to know. Or to feel, because it's absolutely gorgeous.

Tuomas is my god now! I really can't believe how someone in this modern world writes such beautiful lyrics. I'm impressed. And the best part is that Procession is not his only masterpiece in Nightwish. I am not an English native and I struggled to understand perfectly this song, but I am sure now Tuomas is like a modern Shakespeare.
Tuomas is endeed todays Shakespeare, todays Wagner when it comes to compose, todays Mozart when it comes to genius.
Even in 2022, this is still my favorite song of all songs ever created by humans.

The fact we're here is astonishing, its something nobody will ever be able to grasp or explain and it should be cherished at all cost
It is astonishing but we do have an understanding and it's more beautiful than any religion has came up with. The last 2 albums have been influenced by the awe science has taught us over the last few centuries.
This ended up being my favorite one from the album. First time it used to be Music and Noise, even How's the Heart but all in all music and lyrics here are so devastating and beautiful, plus looking at so many species on the verge of extinction... it's a contundent message.
