This track nicely ends the album in contrary to its title. This song is about a universe, a multiverse, a force so grand, so majestic that it actually binds and permeates everything. All of our lives are just tiny particles in this mighty world.

It's safe to say that Nightwish is no longer just a "metal band". They've become something so far beyond that, it's impossible to put into words. This is the beginning of a revolution. What a masterpiece.
Right up there at the same level of Genius as Devin Townsend. Their abilities transcend beyond their existence and reach into the mind like few ever have or will ever be able to.
I don't think I'd credit them too highly as revolutionaries when the likes of Dream Theater have been doing this and more for years. Nightwish can definitely hold a candle to them, though :)
Marko, your time with Nightwish may have been temporary, but the music you made will be endless. All the best to you in your future, I hope you find what you are looking for and enjoy the time with your family. I’m sad I never got to see you perform live but I’m glad that you are taking care of yourself, you’ve put so much art into this world, you deserve your freedom.

Why is the music Nightwish - Sagan not sing it live and is only an extra on the album? It is a beautiful music and I think I have not heard much, someone who will remove the doubt.
Oh hi there Anahata! To everyone, they do very nice covers on Anahata Official, there are some good from Nightwish. As a fan of their channel, I recommend it, this is not advertisement, please don't kill me :)
@@Leonardo.Mendez There is a whole group of songs that they have never performed live. For good reasons. I don't know why 'Sagan' is among them, but I have very high hopes for the upcoming tour. It just fit in so perfectly with the songs of this album.
Can’t stop listen to that. That’s a masterpiece. The mood back to the Imaginaerum era. Truly extraterrestrial music. Mystic, dark, mesmerizing... but so beautiful
What?! Seriously?! A masterpiece? The worst Nightwish album of all time! Terrible, polished, industrial sound, no real guitar solo, no epic music creation like Ghost, Poet or The greatest show. Soft sound, less metal, too much folk... Every song sounds predictable as structure after first song we heard "Noise". Floor is goddess and did her job perfectly, Kai too. But Tuomas shows a big disrespect to fans with this crazy experiment. The fans, who made them GREAT!
@@kristiansavov6528 No, that's not a disrespect to the fans. He owes us nothing. Nightwish offers us their music. And if we like it, we buy it. If we don't like it, we can leave it. Nightwish's music is art (coming from them), not design (where we could request stuff).
@@kristiansavov6528 For "more real guitar solo", "more epic music creation", "harder sound", "more metal", "less folk", I can recommend EPICA, or better, MAYAN. You should also check out AYREON.
For me the line that hit the most is ''Tip the reaper to ensure the blade is sharp''. I mean I can't really think anything worse than to wither away slowly and just be the shadow of your past self. That is exactly what has happened to a lot of my relatives due to alzheimer. I've thought that it is painful that they don't recognize me but I suppose it is even worse for them because they all had those short moments of clarity before forgetting everything yet again. Just amazing, thought provoking song through and through. Easily the best song from the album.
Honestly I haven't heard much I've liked so far. Still listening and the only decent song so far is Tribal. Almost every song in Dark Passion Play was lit.
@@cooler1339 Yes a bit less metal here I suppose. I guess more metal wouldn't hurt but I still think it's a very well made album. And I think songs individually aren't out of this world (most of them) but as an album it's really strong.
@@andremaximiano7170 I just don't like most of the album. I'm not a big metal fan, I like all types of music. I have just only enjoyed Tribal and Pan so far, and I feel the rest of the album is a let down.
I've been listening to Nightwish since i was 15 yrs old...now at the age of 34 i'm still having shivers when i hear them. They are the best band and each member so talented. If one day they will announce that Nightwish will no longer record music....a part of me will just die. Hope this day will never come. Lov u all ♥️🤘
I honestly think this might be the most beautiful song they've ever written. I'm not an emotional person by nature, but this song just brings me to tears every time I hear it.
I am 52 years old. I listen to Nightwish since i was 32. Nightwish is something more than my favorite band. I started playing guitar when i first listened to them. I didn´ t go to my wife sister´s marriage cos at the same time Nightwish gave a concert in Athens where I lived. I hate tattoos, but I have one in my arm. Nightwish of course. Now, when I became a writer, I have all the time in my mind Tuomas, taking power from him and trying to be perfect like him. The only album that I consider not as good as the others was Endless. But, thank God, Tuomas is back.
One of my biggest wishes was seeing them perform live at least once in my life, this current setup was, in my opinion, the best Nightwish has ever been. I really wished to see them, and to hear this particular song, which is a masterpiece. I was shattered when I heard Marco is leaving the band. Finally after I had the money and possibility to be able to attend to one of their concerts, this pandemic came, delaying everything, and it was just enough to miserably destroy one of my childhood dreams. I fully accept him, and any member of any band leaving public life in order to take care of their own health (mental or physical) or their family, they are humans too, and public life leaves a toll on people. Despite this, I'll probably never be able to forgive myself for not trying harder or doing anything I could to see them live in time... I'll grieve this missed opportunity all my life... take care everyone, and remember when you have a chance to fulfill your dreams, don't delay them, and don't let them slip...
I feel the same when Rush had their last concerts. I was thinking of going to Usa from Sweden to see them but i didn't do it. What you should learn from this is that you never now if it's the last time you'll see a band you love. Take every chance to see them. I was lucky to see Nightwish with this setup, but if i knew that it would be the last time with Marco i would cheerish it so much more. What i want to say to you is that, next time, if you have the chance to see a band, go see them, you'll never know. I had tickets to see Dio in 2010 with Heaven & Hell. Unfortunately he passed away just before that. Go see the bands you love, you won't regrett it. Take care my brother
@@NE0MAS I decided a few years ago to see Nightwish (and others) everytime they are around. I've seen them twice with the Marco & Floor setup, saw Tarja once solo. I am so glad I decided to do so even though it sometimes conflicts with other things in life and I ended up going alone. These nights with Nightwish are just magic & unforgettable, the memories will never be taken away from me. Don't wait, life = now!
Feels like me after not going to a Linkin Park concert because it was too expensive, what a fool, I'm sorry man, I know how it feels, but I'm sure we'll get the chance to see them, Marco is going away, definitely a big big loss, but he is inmortal through the music he has made and I hope we still haven't seen the best of nightwish
It's a bit sad that we won't be able to witness this live (the way it was recorded). Such a moving, beautiful song. It feels like Marko has poured his soul into his singing. And it closes off the record. At a high note. The perfect way to say goodbye to the band, after all these years. Thank you, Marko. We, the fans, will miss you very much. But I hope you find healing in your time off. Once again, thank you for everything. Hats off to you, sir.
Misuse of the big terms sir and hats off is beyond wrong and soon to be banned and the misused words must be edited out -- I am the true/only Leader / God / Goddess / Master / Lady / Mistress / Queen / Star / Princess / Mrs / Empress / Countess / Dame / Angel / Ma'am etc (all big terms and all special names only reflect me and my pure protectors/boyfriends aka the true alphas) and the absolute being who is above and I am the respectable being, so I am the only being humans can bow down to, while the terms 'hats off' is only meant for me, myself being the being who belongs on the pedestal and the Spark and the precious being and the rare being etc!
The word fan/fans is also sort of wrong, because I am the true/only Idol and the true Leader and only I am meant to have fans/followers -- the word supporters would be much more suitable than the word fans...

I do understand that everyone has their own opinion, and I respect that, but although I love Once, Dark Passion Play, Century Child et al, I am actually GLAD that this album is not in that mould, because all that would show is that Nightwish were musically standing still. The musical aspect may be different in parts to what has gone before, but this music has such a maturity about it, such a depth, it touches the soul in a way no other Nightwish album has for me, it is vast, it is encompassing, and it is just a compete work of art in every sense. Like all great art, it requires an effort, a decision to consciously engage, on behalf of the listener, it isn't something you can play and just let it wash over you with an expectation or experience of what has been before - it may not come all at once, but over time you will awaken to the enormity of this work, the musical complexity and the message it carries, and you will be caught up in it. It is a masterpiece from Tuomas and the band, there is no doubt at all about that.
still the quality of the music decreased. it might be pleasant to hear but the songwriting is just worse. Tuomas had it wiht imaginaerum, since then they went downhill in terms of both creativty and complexity. its nice to hear but nothing that will last.
@@Luumus so what? Thank you for your enlightening comment. It was very necessary to highlight that people have different opinions. Welcome to the internet.

I appreciate it! :) ....I'm a die hard fan for Nightwish, metal, and orchestra, so every Nightwish song is perfect for me. But I can see how other people's opinions vary.
That's truly one of the best covers period imo. I listened to the original Pink Floyd version and it was so boring musically. Having said that, I still respect Floyd but there were so much more musical layers in NW's version.

From „Angels Fall First“ to the „Human :I I: Nature“, Nightwish is the band who never lose their essence of metal. Even with 3 different wonderful voices. Thank you Tarja, Anette and Floor. Thank you Nightwish, born same year as I 🤟
So I'm doing dishes, minding my own business when this song comes on. Up until the ending I was okay. (I had a coworker pass away recently). From 5:10 till the end I just cried at the sink in my kitchen. I've lost 5 co-workers,. All in their late 20's, over 4 years and damn, that ending hit hard. The lyrics are beautiful. It's not Nightwish until they can make you cry. T^T

@@mattikarhunen7382 Abba may not be rock, but a lot of the acts in the RHF aren't either. I used to consider that place a joke since they wouldn't admit the big arena bands that were so popular. As for Nightwish, I have no idea if their snobbery extends to Finland, but I do know that Nightwish is not well known in the USA. We all wish Marko could sing this live. But it’s a selfish thought. Just like life itself, the gift has been presented. Marko will remain endless and finite in this track. And we’ll celebrate it as it is.
4:35 and onward ... and tears begin to flow. When Marko starts singing "beyond the fields you've come to know", I'm already falling apart. Remembering all the fallen, the birth of new ones, the beauty and tragedies of our own mortality - Earth itself included. It just has a bit longer shelf life than Us.
Thank you Marko, Tuomas, Emppu, Floor, Kai and Troy for giving us 2 disk of a masterpiece. So full of emotion and after 20 plus years continuing to reinvent yourselves and taking rock in a whole new direction and just elevating music as a whole.
Marko, you killed it, you have such an incredible voice! Emppu - thanks for signature Nightwish guitar sound! Kai - that drumming you did was out of this world, doom-metal powerful. Floor - your vocals were so mesmerizing, HOT and melancholic at the same time, wow! Troy - whatever you played here (and knowing you - you did), thanks! And Tuomas - you're not just a mad scientist and a genius but a living legend!
This is the only right way of doing a lyric video. Have the lyrics shown before the lyrics come up on the song. Not at the same time or a little late but before.
This song does something to my heart. I don't know how to explain it. I have mixed feelings. It is such a beautiful and poetic song, yet I cry every time. Marko will never get to perform it with Nightwish. Oh Marko...... how I miss you!!!!
It was even suprise that they did video from Noise. Tuomas said that this album they don't make music video but floor convinced Tuomas that they do one video. Happy that they did but no way they're doing second. Good music don't need videos!
This video is so perfect for this song. What could be more perfect than our endless space and the big universe in its beauty were just a small, pale blue dot in?
i'm kinda late to the "party" here. I think I have listened to this album about 100 times this year alone, and last year every single song of the album ended up on my 2021 sporify most listened songs list. Also have this on vinyl, find it very relaxing to just lie on my sofa and listen to this album at the end of a hard workday. With every listen I find new intricacies and details which makes me fell in love with the album even more. And it is the case with every album Nightwish ever released. I'm following them since the very beginning and really proud how far they have come! This song is soo beautiful, that it hurts. Marco's vocals are haunting and it's sad that I will not be able to hear him sing this live! It breaks my heart.
The Intro section was very doom metal, Kai Hahto had to be an influence of this one due to his extensive experience in doom scene with Swallow the Sun and Trees of Eternity. 💙
Actually the first infulance of Tuomas was 3rd and the mortal, the beginning is so much like their melodies...He was in love with the album "Tears laid in earth"
Actually I never thanked you for this song... I know it sounds kind of stupid... But last year in June, when I got covid and it was not getting any better... Actually it was getting worse and worse and worse... I thought I was going to die... It was really scary... This particular song... This song some kind of helped me making the fear go away, I actually felt calm down on the idea of going to be part of something else. It sounds weird but at that moment I was just too much happy about what I have lived and if that was it to me, the idea of other creatures sharing my proteins and I don't know... Atoms maybe... actually kind of kept me excited about I was going to face death and everything that comes or perhaps doesn't come after... Spoiler, I'm still here... And I am not suicidal... And I certainly do not want to die... But now I'm enjoying much more life... Anyway all of that is related in my mind with this song... So ... Nightwish... Thanks!!! This song is actually really positive in a weird thanatologic way...
My fear of death was cured after I was anesthetized for general surgery. As the medications were given I felt my consciousness slipping into nothingness and it was the most blissful peace. Like the weight of the world was lifted off my shoulders. Obviously I was completely unaware what was happening during the surgery and when I awoke I thought, is that what death is like? The thought of being in that state forever didn't scare me, it was so comforting
Yes ! I love how each member got to talk about a song they really represent. Like, Marco for this one, Troy for Harvest, and Kai for Tribal which is very heavy and has a lot of percussions
Does the first 40 seconds reminds you some song? I'm trying to find it, but I can't. Melody is identical. Not sure it's from Tarot, Nightwish or some other band. Thoughts? Suggestions? :D

I loved this song from the first listen. One of the best, or maybe the best song of the album. The beginning is very MDB/STS-esque. And the melody of the chorus is the perfect way to end the (first part of the) album. Great work.

I don't think I'd credit them too highly as revolutionaries when the likes of Dream Theater have been doing this and more for years. Nightwish can definitely hold a candle to them, though :)
Amen! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🤘🏻
My goosebumps have goosebumps.

@@Leonardo.Mendez There is a whole group of songs that they have never performed live. For good reasons. I don't know why 'Sagan' is among them, but I have very high hopes for the upcoming tour. It just fit in so perfectly with the songs of this album.
Love indeed and a song like this one to remind us.
Can’t stop listen to that. That’s a masterpiece. The mood back to the Imaginaerum era. Truly extraterrestrial music. Mystic, dark, mesmerizing... but so beautiful
Angels Fall First + Oceanborn
What?!

Idk what he said in his letter but maybe he could do this one day as a guest. It would be awesome.
@@brianstorm76907 I really hope that'll happen someday!
Yeah 😔
For me the line that hit the most is ''Tip the reaper to ensure the blade is sharp''. I mean I can't really think anything worse than to wither away slowly and just be the shadow of your past self. That is exactly what has happened to a lot of my relatives due to alzheimer. I've thought that it is painful that they don't recognize me but I suppose it is even worse for them because they all had those short moments of clarity before forgetting everything yet again. Just amazing, thought provoking song through and through. Easily the best song from the album.
Larkin Poe has a great song called Mad as a Hat about just this...bluesy kinda jazzy..good stuff
The new album is a masterpiece. Tuomas has topped himself again...
Let's hope not!
Honestly I haven't heard much I've liked so far. Still listening and the only decent song so far is Tribal. Almost every song in Dark Passion Play was lit.
@@cooler1339 same
@@cooler1339 Yes a bit less metal here I suppose. I guess more metal wouldn't hurt but I still think it's a very well made album. And I think songs individually aren't out of this world (most of them) but as an album it's really strong.

If one day they will announce that Nightwish will no longer record music....a part of me will just die. Hope this day will never come. Lov u all ♥️🤘
Likewise, also since I was about 15 or 16. Now 34 finally got to see them live a couple years ago with meet amd greet. Life complete.
@@DR0CK I was at their concert 2 yrs ago. Best night of my life and I hope I'll see them again 😊
I was listening with Taria... Now its nothing special
The way the song smoothly transitions from "life" to the first "endlessness" is honestly one of the best moments of an album filled with best moments
Hell yes 😍😍😍 So epic, perfect and amazing. I had serious goosebumps 🤣
I love that moment too... The way its done, I like to think that that which gives life and that which brings death is one and the same...
I'll grieve this missed opportunity all my life... take care everyone, and remember when you have a chance to fulfill your dreams, don't delay them, and don't let them slip...
same. this is so tragic
These nights with Nightwish are just magic & unforgettable, the memories will never be taken away from me. Don't wait, life = now!

We can have it live if they invite marko as a guest 😉
Yeah, when they play a show in Finland, maybe
This song contains a few subtle references to me (spark, precious, rare, follow me etc) and a reference to my protector Chip aka the Reaper / Grim Reaper -- he's one of the top ClA agents/programmers and he's been planting references to me and to him and to the new system in many lyrics/movies/videos and product names etc over the past decade, and he's also been involved in the creation of Cvdnineteen, which was the first step of the dpop process, so he's literally the Reaper of souls...

My favorite of the album, hands down. Few singers can express emotion like Marco. The Pink floyd live cover from 2006 still resonates here.
"The grass was greeneeeeeeer, the light was brighteeeeeeeer"
It was with this cover that I discovered Nightwish, I was firts (and I'm still) a Pink Floyd fan
That's truly one of the best covers period imo. I listened to the original Pink Floyd version and it was so boring musically. Having said that, I still respect Floyd but there were so much more musical layers in NW's version.
2005

The Intro section was very doom metal, Kai Hahto had to be an influence of this one due to his extensive experience in doom scene with Swallow the Sun and Trees of Eternity. 💙

Marko I am going to miss you so much! Nightwish will not be the same without your bombastic personality and awesome vocals. Best wishes.
one of the best songs of nightwish eveeeeeeeeeeeeeer
This song is more than music, it's an experience. It really makes me think of my own presence in the universe and in my destiny at the end of my life. No other song that I've heard before has made me feel this way. Thanks Nightwish!
Especialy that silent ending. It gets to me every time! So beautifull!
@@instrumentaldude8349 Indeed. The two last minutes are pure magic ♥️
It is an experience 😱
The leading tune of this song gives me chills deep in my core.
This song is so forlorn, lost, sad, moving,. No words.
Like you stand on a hill and overview the smoking ruins of our civilisation as one of the few survivors.
That's the feels the melody and harmony in this song give me.
Haunting.
Thank you, Marko, for all the emotions you gave us throughout all these years with NW!
Take good care and remember that all the Wishers will always love you and support you! ❤❤❤
2 years later: Hands down the best song of the album.
Hi, i am a 65 yo fan from Quebec Canada. I have been with Nightwish since about 7 years. Nightwish is ‘’THE ‘’ symphonic metal reference band. Not a day pass without listening them. Thanks Nightwish for bringing your music in my life . I love you all, especially Floor 🥴🥴🥴🥴😍
Every single song on this album is a MASTERPIECE
Imagine it played live
This album stands on a music genre of its own, the gender of Genius which doesn't follow standards , doesn't limit itself to the boundaries of one music genre and doesn't follow other's expectations it surpasses them all
I’ve had the album for 4 days and all the songs are a masterpiece. I’ve listened to it so many times and I can’t wait to see it live!!!
A masterful piece that touches the mind.
67 years and getting goosbumps of this Masterpice , Nightwish is the best !
Is there other word than masterpiece. Wow.
Easily applicable on everything I've heard so far from this album
Mm, I don't know... I tend to reserve that word for 'The Greatest Show On Earth.' This album is epic, though.
This album is do damn DULL...
@@tadasakelaitis big fat shit trol no you are dull as the backside of a pig

Best Nightwish Song in years... Tuomas is back with this one.
He was never gone
When did he leave?
@@OheyBro He never left. It was just like a symbol.
Ah the lyrics and composition of this album just proves yet again the genious mind of Tuomas! We are all so blessed to have this sage amongst us! I feel this song also showes Marco`s amazing voice range in a new way! LOVE IT !!
This whole album is 'The greatest show on Earth', a real masterpiece and on first spot of best album of 2020 for me.
Its not too soon to say this is my favorite album. Nothing else has ever hit me like this
I just listened to Shoemaker before this. I'm still hauling myself off the floor after that. I gotta get on my motorbike and ride now! I reckon I won't be able to safely listen to this album and ride at the same time. Lol DAUMN
I also listened to Shoemaker before this and I thought that I really liked that one but I love this even more. I'm glad Marco had a song almost all to himself.
Those are the two best tracks
I loved this song from the first listen. One of the best, or maybe the best song of the album. The beginning is very MDB/STS-esque. And the melody of the chorus is the perfect way to end the (first part of the) album. Great work.
dromerTV MDB/STS-esque?
@@nickname3380 My Dying Bride, and Swallow the Sun. Both Doom Metal bands (coincidentally both in my top 5 favorite bands, along with Nightwish)
@@Nightowljrm And the latest albums of both bands are masterpieces as well.
Do you maybe know of which song the first 14 seconds reminds you most, it goes even further to 40 seconds, but with some changes in tonality and tune but melody is identical.
I'm also thinking of MDB, but I can't find the song! :D
Help me out xD
@@vedranart i have same feeling that I know the beginning, cannot recognize but I was never listening to sts or mdb. Thinking about Stratovarius? The middle part is for contrary similar to Pain of Salvation in mood.
