The opening scenes are from the Antietam-125th Re-enactment.....I am in the throngs of Confederates advancing....we were garrisoned with the 14th Tennessee...look for the White Flag with Red stripes and Red stars...I am in that rank!!

Epic movie and soundtrack. Proud of our heritage, whether our ancestors (and us today) are Southern or Northern. RIP Mr. Horner, superb music.

There's nothing to be proud of. In fact, it's a genetic accident whether you're an U.S. citizen, Italian or Australian. Being proud of being American or any other nationality actually couldn't be more trivial or stupid in the first place. Actually, the U.S. has been responsible for 78% of all armed conflicts in the world since 1950 (2nd year of NATO). And, as we speak, eight out of ten people are fleeing their home countries because of U.S. military interventions. The U.S. has been the #1 bully and state terrorist of the world for the past 73 years. The U.S. stands for war, destruction, havoc, lies, broken treaties, refugee crises, child poverty, high mortality rate among children. Ask the people in Iraq, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, Mali, Somalia or the many Latin American countries in Central America that have been targeted by the U.S. in that phony and utterly racist "War On Drugs", designed by Nixon in 1974.
And now, thanks to the U.S. once again, we're on the brink of a nuclear Holocaust because utterly corrupt and demented Joe Biden thinks it's safer to be in Kiev, Ukraine - literally in a war zone - to promise U.S. puppet Zelensky 500 million $ worth of instant military aid ,than being in East Palestine, Ohio, a small town where people will die in the next years and decades due to cancer, indirectly caused by corrupt and anti-democratic politicians in D.C.!
If you're proud to be an American, you're just a chump who's dumb enough to still believe that bought-and-paid-for politicians and their corrupt watchdogs, the mainstream media, are nothing but honest and transparent truth tellers who are fighting for democracy and equality. Instead of that, you should finally pull your head out of your ass and start thinking - before it's too late!

Love this track! Transfixed since seeing & hearing it on the big screen in '89. Proud that 264 men & boys enlisted in Mr. Lincoln's Army from my hometown of Scituate, Massachusetts during the War of the Rebellion. Local population at the time was 2,100!

+Michael Whitehead Jefferson and Liberty! My research shows a Elisha Colman from South Scituate (Present day Norwell) who enlisted with the 2nd Regiment, Massachusetts Volunteer Heavy Artillery. Co.B. He was employed as a shoemaker at the time of his enlistment. Are you familiar with the diary of Captain Moses Rich Colman?

+AssinnippiJack I am not familiar with the diaries no. I know my branch of the Colman s were in shipping and the spice trade as Perry's father and grandfather were lost at sea in Indonesia in the 1830s.

+Michael Whitehead "Diary of Captain Moses Rich Colman" has been out of print for some years but hardcover copies pop up on e-bay once in a while. It's a fascinating look at a seafaring life in the early-mid 1800's. Period images including "Colman Hills" included!

@Nicholas-n6m Thanks. Yeah, it sucked, I had a bunch of my favorite CDs in it, including an original EP from a local band, pretty much irreplaceable. Even back then, CDs weren't valuable enough to steal, maybe the thief could get 20 or 30 bucks. So dumb. And it was in the gated parking lot of my apartment complex so it was either a neighbor or some friend of a neighbor, very sketch.

I love that about James Horner’s music! It’s as though he was always changing & growing as a composer but still utilized key elements of some or his earlier scores. I’ve noticed the same with the “Braveheart” soundtrack & “Titanic”.

@@lauriewojak1629 Guess what! All composers do that. They have all been doing that. From classical composers like Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms or Mahler to movie composers like John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, Hans Zimmer or James Horner. There is absolutely nothing special or unique about it.
