Gotta say it's pretty nice seeing decent stuff for a low price becoming more available. I bought a 20 amp welder off Amazon for $110 and built a home-made belt grinder with it. Never had a single issue with the welder and while it's not super adjustable I was able to get it at a good spot for welding the material I had. All the welds looked solid and it didn't act up at all. It's really nice to be able to get a product you know you probably won't use a ton and not be hurting the wallet too much. Good high quality tools are great, but sometimes that cheap "good enough" stuff is just what I need.
I have several welders from an engine driven Lincoln 225g7 to a small 120v transformer welder. I recently bought a cheap inverter welder, 120v. It's now my favorite most versatile welder. I recently bought a small inexpensive inverter plasma torch, and am looking forward to using it. When I was younger you could not touch these welders or cutters for under $3500 USD.
I’m excited to see this one! I’m planning to review the cheapest one at tractor supply I bought for my Dad for Christmas, it’s really nice for the $350. Seems to be awesome for what he’s doing! It’s a Forney so it’s a name brand 💪
$150 is way more appealing than $350. Looks like this one really did well. I wonder if Forney is just taking the same thing and marking it up for the name
We shall see fellas. Looks like the Forney has some big shoes to fill for the price difference. My Dad hasn’t really tried the upper limits, but I sure will lol
"There is a warm place in hell for the manufacturers that don't standardize things"..🤣🤣...oh man, I couldn't agree more, especially with the air quick connects. Super frustrating!

The first batches of Chinese-made products and several still in the market right now are easily broken. But the new ones are getting better with very competitive prices. Just like when Japan started their technology back in the 50s and 60s and after 30 years Japan made products are high quality. They'll get there eventually. Good review.

Hi Paul, a little off topic. I’m going in next week for quintuple bypass next week and noticed your post was 2 months old. How is your recovery going? Hope all is well, I’m concerned about length of time before I can get back to work and projects like this. Thanks k
I had a plasma cutter nearly identical to this. Same size case and everything, just under a different name. It ran great for about a year and I never had any issues with it once the settings were dialed in for the thin automotive sheet metal I cut. After the machine sat on the shelf for roughly 5 years I needed to use it again. I hooked it up, flipped the power switch, and POOF; a giant cloud of white smoke out the vents. I can't even describe the smell. Took it apart and couldn't see any visible damage, but It's done, won't turn on at all... I guess I got my $350 worth out of it.
Cheers from Vancouver BC, Canada. Love your channel. Metric system is the world standard! Love your content. Just baught the Miller 211. I know you don't read manuals but your ground clamp is not "wired" proper. Just a safety note!
Friend in florida had an industrial sized plasma cutter I used alot, he had a separate dryer we put in the line that was designed to use a full roll of toilet paper as the changeable filter/dryer element.

I'm finding more and more Chinese electric tools perform more than adequately for DIY's without the outlays in $'s. The 60cc chainsaw I bought was so cheap I bought 2, plenty of spares and worth it when looking at the prices of individual parts. A very good and informative video thanks from Australia mate.
Yes sir, thanks to your review im buying one! Been putting off buying one since i didn't need one , i wanted one and one that i can afford since i won't need it often, im just a DIYer! Thanks Cody!!!
I don't know anything about plasma cutters, and I know almost nothing about metallurgy, welding, or metalworking in general. But now I really want one of these. I don't know what I would do with it, but darn it I would be able to cut metal. And that is cool.
If I were to buy one of these I'd look for one of the "CUT 50" models. Very similar to this but just a larger transformer so you can get a few more amps out of it. It appeared by the 3/8 in material cut, there may have been a "bit of a struggle". As you stated, totally agree with getting the 240V models. Sooner or later when I get tired of buying gas bottles for my torch I'll buy one of these. They seem like a smart choice for hobbyists / occasional use like I do.
"metric rears its ugly head.." lol well considering 99% of the world uses metric, that seems like a pretty standard thing to me. I was born and raised with Imperial, I'm an American, but heavens sake man metric is truly king for standard anything.
I doubt it's a demand side issue but a supply and likely the export subsidies from China are no longer in effect. You are not seeing below cost pricing with a refreshed product stock, assuming you can even get these kind of things anymore. Due to this, I would expect to see a lot of 'no longer available' like the link above.
This was a cool video. I know nuthin about plasma cutting or about the machines, and would like at apply this to small projects and so forth, so thanks for going out of your way to make this video as I'm interested in plasma cutting. 🤘😎👌
I think it would be cool to compare high-priced Chinese tools to similarly priced tools made in other countries. You always buy the cheapest Chinese tool and compare it to a tools other countries that cost 10x as much, and then stress "Chinese-made" versus "X-made". But if you actually want to compare the quality from different countries, you need to buy tools that are at the same price point.
Thank you for the review. Was looking for plasma cutter for around the house for diy application. Now I know the one I'll try. Thank you brother. And God Bless.
Honestly, I always enjoy it when a tool works better than you want it to. It’s always nice to find a good tool for a great price. I highly doubt this is anything super great, but it does the job. It’s definitely great for someone starting out and looking to do so on the cheap. These Chinesium tools are getting better and better with time.
Typical cheap Japanese junk why would you want it, often said sixty or so years ago, now they make industry standard and have done for decades, just give the Chinese a little time and you will see their stuff in the most professional of workshops, as an aside, my cheap Chinese router bought ten years ago for one job, (with a selection of bits and in a nice plywood box, all for about thirty pounds), is still going, showing signs of wear now but that is no shame to it.
I have a powermax45 ($2000) and like this small machine for the small projects I do. I love the 110v when jobs don't have 220v plugs or my 80ft extension cord cant reach. I may try it. We have a storm currently and water is all over my tools and projects.

As usual. Great video, well thought out and put together. I enjoy watching your entertainment troubles you overcome professionally for all of us not to do. I think I will try this one out for my 1st P Cutter. Have a great Navy Day!
Honestly thank you for this little review. I think I will pick one of these up here in the near future. Generally speaking, I prefer to buy quality tools and especially US made. However I've been on the fence over a plasma cutter for a while now and just haven't been able to justify $800+ for something I might use a few times a year at most for at biggest 1/4" steel. However Sub $200 is well within the budget and if it turns out I use it more than I think, then I can justify the $800 purchase at a later date.
For the power chord. Home Depot, buy 20' of the next larger size conductor, open the unit , remove the old wire, reconnect the new, install the chord cap (plug end) 110 v or 220 v for whatever unit you have. #10 is rated for 30 Amps so #8/3 conductor is rated for 40 Amps and your running it out to 20 feet.. If your unit is 110V I feel pretty sure it's rated for 20 amps so a 10/2 with ground will be needed as the cable it comes with will most likely be a #12. The cable type is SO or SJ and will do the job as per NEC. I'd have to see the spec's as to why they use what they did but for us 220 v. @ 30 amps 20' long #8/2 with ground. This will avoid over heating of the wire and reduce voltage drop just by up sizing the wire to larger. I saw in the video the chord cap for your unit 2 hots and a ground that's a 3 wire set up so again 8/2 SO or SJ with a ground. I did this to my Mig welder and it's real handy I'll tell you. Hey, feel free to move that thing around a bit now.
"A warm place in hell for manufacturers who don't standardise things" ..... "the metric system rears its ugly head again" seems they have but you don't like it 😂
I bought a 32 amp 5 years ago, it still cuts great, I dont use it over 1/8 inch. I also bought a 50 amp, it cuts 3/8 quick. Flies through 1/4 inch. I cut a piece of 3/4 once. It was slow, but definitely doable. But for making 1/4" plate items, these cheap plasma cutters are fine. get a bunch of consumables on Ebay too.
For viewers considering a "cheap" plasma cutter (or welder), best results are achieved when the ground connection is clean. I would have cleaned the ground clamp area(s) in this video to be free of mill scale/rust. A light sanding by hand or a tool is sufficient. These things do work but they leave a rough edge on the metal. Be prepared for grinding and dressing of the final product, for example, I would not consider using a plasma cutter to make a miter joint on a square tube, I would use a miter saw with an abrasive wheel. Also, my Lotus 3500 draws approximately 18A from the 120Vac source when the cutter current was set at 21A. I have all my work bench outlets wired with 10 gauge cable to handle high currents at 120Vac. Lastly, I use an oil free air compressor with a 17 gallon tank dedicated to the plasma cutter. Other shop compressors for air tools are oil based pumps.
To combat the non standard air fittings, I have swapped every female connector in my shop to the universal quick connects. I even made a couple adapter assemblies for when I use someone else's compressor.
You stated the larger steel bar was 8mm, or equivalent to 3/8". The metric system foils (some of) us again. 8mm is equivalent to 5/16", 10mm is approximately 3/8". Just so's ya knows. Thanks for all the great videos!
"Metric system rears it's ugly head" he says, just a minute after "I hate how everyone makes these airhose connections differently, there should be a standard"
@@Wyatt_Riley It's more "There should only be one standard" while the US is the only country in the world not using the standard thing everyone else agrees on.
@ThatGuyCarmine It's not about the hoose-fittings themself, but the concept that fewer standards makes life easier. If there where no UNC threads nuts and bolts would fit everywhere making it easier on everyone.
Thank you, I ordered what looked like same model, mine came plug less, 110/220 model, so tried 110 to use extension cord, nope... spit and sputtered... Also the regulator did not have psi so now I know .04 is where 50 psi is... I'll put a welder plug on and give it another try. Thanks for the videos. Stay Safe, from Linn county Oregon
Thank you brother. I just purchased 2 barrels to make me a heater for our barn. It does get cold in here, for us older southerners. Ha Ha. I think I will be buying me one of those. Where did you get those wood burning pieces to make the heater? Stove door, legs, etc...
What have we learned here ? China helps everyone to get into builting their dreams early. Once your profits comes in then upgrade it to more serious expensive equipment.
Wow! You've certainly come full circle. In your early videos, you've seem to swear off anything made in China. I recall videos where you would rehab an old vice and old axes. Very cool! Now your plugging Chinese plasma cutters! (Can't say I blame you. They are pretty cool and as you mentioned, priced pretty low for such a useful tool). That cut you made in the 3/8" steel is NOT representative of how this plasma cutter cuts through steel. It does a neat, clean cut both quickly and smoothly. Not sure what you were trying to do there. Where this tool comes in real handy is when you need to drill a hole in steel to fasten a bolt. Nothing is as quick! Thanks for the demo!
2 weeks after this test, and the 35i is no longer on Amazon. They now have the 45i at $194 which is only 110v. The 240v is $549. Lately it seems that everything that gets good you tube reviews, the price shoots up on Amazon.
What's funny is I clicked on the link after watching this and found a cut50de. Apparently it is the older model and no lo get available. The manual useless. Oh and the 45i needs 6.0 scfm.
It does look compacted, I like that . And it seem to perform well for you, and I like that . So you giving it a good rating is a plus is something i consider. So thank you for doing this video. I for one appreciate it. Wishing you and your family my best regards. May God bless and keep you.
Had mine for 4 years, was almost $30 more back then, I would say its been used a couple hundred times and still works great. Cant cut for hours on end, it will overheat, i can do 3/8ths but you can tell its at its absolute limit if you go to fast and i often have to cut twice. I did have to open mine as it had an air leak inside, simple clamp re-tighten. Wish i could say evrybody would have as good of luck as me, but its is cheap so who knows. I have at least 3 friends who got them after seeing mine and all of them still wokr to, but I dont think they are used as much as mine. If mine dies i may upgrade, but 4 years for $180, now $150 is hard to pass up.

I'm assuming You stick welded. Or can this machine TIG?
Good to know the pressure regulator comes with that model. Much appreciated for this review. It gives hope to the hobby worker for clean cutting.
I’m really impressed! Can’t beat that performance for the price!
I’m curious to see how this cheaper one compares! I’d love to see if that extra couple hundred bucks really makes a difference
So true. I had no idea there was more than one until I grabbed one of the others types and wondered why it wouldn't fit my air hose. So annoying!
Leon so true. I hate metric but threw in the towel long ago. Just like Beta Vs. VHS. You just gotta give in

@@TrolloTV Ironically the USA is one of the founding countries of the metric system and they use it, they just like to be special and convert everything from metric to the imperial system and then make people convert back to metric when they want to build something more complex then a shed in an amish village. 8mm is 5/16” almost exact
Exact? In measurements?! Ha!
The first batches of Chinese-made products and several still in the market right now are easily broken. But the new ones are getting better with very competitive prices. Just like when Japan started their technology back in the 50s and 60s and after 30 years Japan made products are high quality. They'll get there eventually. Good review.
Forgive my Gamma moment: 8mm is 5/16”...great video!
Just got home from open heart surgery...had to grab my cough pillow after the " it's like the Mike Bloomberg of plasma cutters". Chest still hurts like it was cut open with one of these.
Hi Paul, a little off topic. I’m going in next week for quintuple bypass next week and noticed your post was 2 months old. How is your recovery going? Hope all is well, I’m concerned about length of time before I can get back to work and projects like this. Thanks k

They must have liked the review. The price has nearly quadrupled.
A lot of formerly cheap things from China are going to up in price due the Coronavirus complications.
Look up cut35i. You can find them as low as $129
Still only $199 for dual voltage
His link is to the Cut50 not the one he tested which is cheaper
@@Mumblix no when they see the views go up on a item they up the price have done it with alot of stuff he has reviewed
3:09. We can't simultaneously feel that way, and not use the metric system or 240 volts.
We do use metric and 240v....

Lol! exactly what i was thinking! United States, Myanmar and Liberia are still living in the stone age with the imperial system while every other country in the world uses the metric system! Join the other 99% of us already lol!
The $159.99 price on Amazon right now is for the 110v unit CUT35I or $192.00 for the 110v unit CUT45I and the 240v(220v) 45I is also $192.00
Just some info: not air drier, it’s a moisture separator.
I don't know anything about plasma cutters, and I know almost nothing about metallurgy, welding, or metalworking in general. But now I really want one of these. I don't know what I would do with it, but darn it I would be able to cut metal. And that is cool.
So many “that’s what she said” lines in the opener! Hahaha 😂
ikr ( T﹏T)
That's Communist talk.
Couldn’t agree more. When the heck will America catch up with the rest of the world and go metric, it’s so much easier.
It's funny because imperial units are often derived from metric counterparts.
As a carpenter No, I want to keep my inches and feet.
Thank you for doing the nice demo of this Plasma Cutter. Nicely done.
2 MONTHS LATER AND A PRICE JUMP OF $300 THANKS TH-cam FOR KILLING ALL THE GOOD DEALS
I just went to nab it, it's $550....hahah so much for that 'deal'
So true
I doubt it's a demand side issue but a supply and likely the export subsidies from China are no longer in effect. You are not seeing below cost pricing with a refreshed product stock, assuming you can even get these kind of things anymore. Due to this, I would expect to see a lot of 'no longer available' like the link above.
weird, Clicking the link provided it takes me to a page there its $164. You guys sure you're looking at the same machine?
It's $159.00USD right now
This was a cool video.
Hi, the 2 bolts at the top behind the plasma is use to mount the air filter.
"It's like the Mike Bloomberg" Classic! 😆
I have a powermax45 ($2000) and like this small machine for the small projects I do. I love the 110v when jobs don't have 220v plugs or my 80ft extension cord cant reach. I may try it. We have a storm currently and water is all over my tools and projects.
where is the $150 dollar machine on amazon......the only one i seen is $549
Exactly!
Cheapest i found was 180 something and looking nothing like it
I thought I was the only one who was confused. I went to buy the $150 one and the only one available is $549. WTH?
@@patzke Was your wife in the room when you were checking the prices? In my experience everything gets cheaper when it just suddenly shows up on the door step! ;)

I'm glad the thing worked. I bought a cheap welder on Amazon and it didn't even turn on. There's a lot of randomness in cheap products - Sometimes they last forever and sometimes they are dead on arrival.
The regulator is designed to mount on the back with the two studs
Just had a project that could have employed one of these. Think you just convinced me to get one for that unseen project ahead. Thank you.

I am dismayed because the price you reported is 5 times lower than actual. Please tell me how to get one for $150.00.
That's what I sas sayin
He must have bought it before the hike in tariffs.
Another great video. Well thought out. You do a great job at this. Have a great Navy Day!
Looks like a good kit for a starter, based on my no experience whatsoever heh.
its funny how alot of us love this channel, even though we dont do anything related to either homesteading or metal/wood fab xD
_"based on my no experience whatsoever"_
its good enough for internet commenting 👍
I just about choked when you called it the Bloomberg version.
To combat the non standard air fittings, I have swapped every female connector in my shop to the universal quick connects. I even made a couple adapter assemblies for when I use someone else's compressor.
"I'm gonna test out this plasma cutter"
(immediately starts modifying the plasma cutter)
You stated the larger steel bar was 8mm, or equivalent to 3/8". The metric system foils (some of) us again. 8mm is equivalent to 5/16", 10mm is approximately 3/8". Just so's ya knows.
Thanks for all the great videos!
"Metric system rears it's ugly head" he says, just a minute after "I hate how everyone makes these airhose connections differently, there should be a standard"
Classic American mate haha
You can make a precision standard part without using the metric system fyi
@@Wyatt_Riley It's more "There should only be one standard" while the US is the only country in the world not using the standard thing everyone else agrees on.
@ThatGuyCarmine It's not about the hoose-fittings themself, but the concept that fewer standards makes life easier. If there where no UNC threads nuts and bolts would fit everywhere making it easier on everyone.
@@tbthegr81 The US also produces the most widely used Mills, Lathes, ect that are used for precision machining so we can do what we like

The hyperlink appears to be for ONLY the operating handle and the connector hose.
On them screw type hose clamps I always put a few drops of oil in them. Really helps, you can still break/strip them.
