You should make a video with all the guava’s so we can see how the fruits looked like.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful collection! I’m trying to pick a first guava variety to plant in San Diego. I was leaning towards lemon guava thinking they need less water than the tropicals so I was surprised about your comment on the strawberry guava. Do you have a sense of which of yours is the least thirsty?

Hello, tropic pink or white are less thirsty than lemon and strawberry guava. Any guava will need plenty of water for the first 2-3 years. After that they are pretty drought tolerant but the fruit won’t get to a nice size unless you water a bit more when flowering and growing fruits.

I am looking to plant a guava tree in Escondido… you’re my neighbor! Strange question but do you ever do tours and/or tastings at your place? Also, I am looking to buy either a dwarf one or something that can be grown in a pot. Any suggestions? I’m leaning towards a pink variety compared to white, but am open to suggestions and would greatly appreciate it!

Tropic pink is very good, I bought one at Home Depot and I am very happy with the quality of the fruit. Any guava variety is ok to grow in a pot

I share the same love for guavas as you. I grew up with them as well in Pakistan. I am growing lots of varieties in San Jose, CA. You are right about watering strawberry guava. I water it deeply and it is loaded with 100's of fruit. Same is true for lemon guava. I guess due to weather differences between Vista and San Jose, my guavas don't ripe as early as yours. Like my pink guava's are still on the smaller side. Please do provide an update when your guavas are fully ripe.

Hello, I didn’t think you can grow guava in San Jose. What climate zone is San Jose?

    • @qasimali32

@@socalbackyardorchard3768 I am in Santa Clara and it has two zones interestingly. 9b and 10a (and i am right on the border:)). It’s harder to grow than SoCAl but so far guavas ripe a little late but they have been doing fine
