Gold Card Conditions:
1. Defeat Altair's 1st Form.
2. Bounce a Pumped Up Bomb off Altair's Head.
3. Harm Altair with an explosion from a Pumped Up Bomb.
4. Defeat Altair's 2nd Form.
5. Defeat Altair within the Target Time.
Note: In order to access Rainbow Palace, you must have collected all 100 Gold Cards so far.

Poor Altair, he might've been bad but he didn't deversed to be like f!!king obliterated by a hyperlaser, jeez that looks painful, and his scream cutting out too? dang. 4:23

4:22 Ooookay, didn't notice this because I've never gotten here before but the music is eerily similar to the kind of music of Dr Wily from both the ruby spears megaman cartoon --and from megaman installments after this was released which I find kinda creepy.
But still...I gotta say I notice now a similarity of Altair and his flying assistant...to Bass and Treble from megaman...Color scheme and also likewise an arrogant demeanor.
And also even back as a kid I always thought Regulus was similar to Protoman in how he was helping Altair--plus the visor of his helmet gave a kind of visual cue. Looking at him now, his color scheme seems to fit MegaMan, Proto's brother (or apparently not in JP). The fact he survives either scenario speaks to this. You'd see protoman helping Wily escape at the end of megaman cartoon episodes when Wily's schemes inevitably failed.
Corsair implying Altair (Bass) was at one point his partner/apprentice before destroying him. All this time he's been helping YOU but concealing his real purpose in half-truths. I always did find him a bit odd, like something didn't add up... Though he claims he could never touch, let alone defeat Altair, he's been at least as capable as you, but with flying abilities and possessing intel which you don't. Plus he seemed to know an awful lot about the omni cube and how Altair was incompetent in its use --as well as his disorganization of attack (something you find through gameplay isn't just a mere coincidence). Also I don't know the trope, but the whole "villain under your nose the whole time" plot smacks of Dr. Wily--Wily had done this in both the cartoon at least a couple times, and once in the games at this particular point in time, megaman 3. (I didn't know this plot until recently as I never found any MM3 instruction booklet!)
...BTW same sort of plot for another Star Wars antagonist in a certain game, but I won't spoil it for you on just who it is.
I always did wonder if Hudson Soft was making nods to Capcom's MegaMan...now I think it's safe to say they were. Especially in light of their newest game "Super Bomberman R" with a grey haired bearded villain on the cover which bears resemblance to Dr. Wily.
Oh yes and the ending without all the gold cards, Corsair's disappointment...echoes both Wily and in a way this reveal is similar to reaching Akuma on fighting games with him in it--he's lurking and you have to meet some conditions for him to come out and challenge you at the end usually after upstaging the antagonist by killing him. Street Fighter or other fighting games produced by capcom, just like megaman...

I just hate this fucking stupid boss, I just can't beat him with that damn time limit and he just keeps teleporting in the second form.
