How Takakeisho could lift himself up in a matter of minutes out of that terrible first bout, lost indeed to nerves and fear is still beyond me... There is the spirit of a true fighter; one who doesn't give up after he probably should.

I hope you'll keep making your spotlight/assessment videos of spesific Rikishi's like you did after the last Basho as well as the training reports and Rikishi comments videos you made before this Basho. For the first time Sumo didn't disappear from my life in between the Basho's. Just as you were done with the post Basho videos, you started your pre Basho videos. A fluent transition from Basho to Basho. I'm not sure if there was even a day without a Chris Sumo notification here in TH-cam. On some days there were several!

Terunofuji does look like hes a temporarily inconvenienced Ozeki.

It has certainly been a strange old year for sumo in 2020 with all the COVID inspired disruption (and not just the cancellation and crowds) Also a sad one with the minor losses of Kotoshogiku and the other retirees, but obviously the major loss of a rikishi to the virus.
So it was really heartening to see those last two bouts between Terunofuji and Takekeisho, even if I couldn't believe how complete the change around between the two bouts
Looking forward to 2021, regardless of what happens to Hakuho and Kakuryu I think the sport is in good shape, between terunofuji and Takayasu making it back to Sanyaku from their injuries to Shoudai finally proving he has more than potential to the crop of new rikishi at the top level none of whom looked out of their depth at Makuuchi level even if this basho did show the dangers of rising too far too fast.
Finally thank you Chris. I am a real fan of the new direction you have taken the channel, both the match day footage and the between basho coverage of the individual rikishi at all levels. Stay safe and I look forward to more of the same for 2021

Great video Chris! I think you hit the nail on the head with that analysis of the Takakeish/Terunofuji double match! If I remember correctly, Takakeisho could have won the September Basho except for a couple of mental errors in the ring. so I am sure that was in the back of his mind just before the first of the matches against Terunofuji! Takakeisho's whole demeanor seemed to have changed going into the second match, you could see it in his face and eyes! You mentioned Takakeisho's height in this vid. That's exactly why I like him so much, we're the same height!🙄 He does have a couple of hundred pounds on me though!😌
Thanks for the Sumo coverage and the news!

No yokozunas, no ozekis, only one of the sekiwakes (Mitakeumi in 'top' form), small guys in the top of maegashiras, Kyrbayama and others doing terrible. This tournament was like a godsend to Takakeisho. Hope January will be way fiercer.
Anyways great coverage as always. I love hearing bits and pieces about the slaughterhouse in division 3 in particular. Keep up the good work.

He had to perform though, and he did. In a way that put more pressure on him, being the sole Ozeki.

Teru is essentially still an ozeki as far as I'm concerned. We'll see how Taka does in January, I'm certain the yokozunas will be back then. can't wait.

Just like March was a godsend for Hakuho with Takakeisho injured and no other Ozeki he only had to beat an aging and injured Kakuryu. Somehow he wasn’t criticized for winning though.
