Always new turtles to learn about, can't imagine anyone not liking turtles they are the best. Great mini class Chris, really wishing you the best of luck with producing baby Fly River turtles. Thank you Chris and Maurice for taking us along.🐢🐢🐢
She reminds me of the soft shell turtle that was a rescue in my college bio lab. Man, I loved that class, lots of snakes, alligators, fish, and frogs since the teacher was a herpetologist.
What a fantastic video! The more I watch your channel, the more I understand how much work and time goes into their care. You have to really love turtles and be dedicated to their well being in order to keep them successfully. Any turtle is fortunate to call your place home!🐢❤️🐢
Geez, who knew there were so many beautiful turtle species?!? Well, I guess Chris and Casey did, but I certainly didn't. That little Pearl River Map turtle is just gorgeous! The little Japanese wood turtle and the golden coin turtle are seriously cute, too. The Burmese narrow-headed giant softshell turtle looks like a handful, but she certainly seems like a healthy girl. Loved this video and I hope Ruby's future is bright and that those two Fly River turtles like what they see when they're introduced.
Her shell and her skin are beautiful, almost pearlescent. Her plastron is flawless A name like Pearl would be lovely. ❤ Opal would be a close second. For something a little less romantic and a bit more fun, how about Miss Piggy? 😂
Really looking forward to your breeding plan. Have avoided getting one until more is known about husbandry and breeding. You need a 20 x 60 greenhouse with a 6 foot deep aquascape "lazy river" with slow water pools and decked out with New Guinea/Australian plant life. Think of all the species you could keep in the planted areas! Time for a fundraiser.
in Indonesia, we call them monbi turtles (pig snouts), they are very rare in the wild, you could even say they are extinct in the wild but still exist in captivity
I believe Kennan has a Batager turtle and know he has Fly River turtles. He keeps his in the same pond, but it's quite large. Maybe they are the same sex and do not fight? What a fun video! Thanks for including us!
Very cool. I’m amazed with how much technical information you know and share in such a way we really do come to understand without it all sounding blah blah. You’re amazing! As for the new little girlie addition to the turtle clan, I think, ‘Little Miss Piggy’
I saw this species living in a big tank of a surf themed cafe in Moscow, always was concerned for the fella but years later it looked lively :’) Such cute species!
A beautiful animal all conditions considered, incredible how resilient the metabolism and growth rates are compared to say snapping turtles, but I suppose an more omnivorous natural diet helps.
Maurice has lots of natural light which is required to keep the Water Hyacinths going through long northern winters. Perhaps Amazon Frog-bit or a lower-light floating plant or even artificial lily-pads (just to provide some shelter & privacy.)
She is so beautiful. Very unique. She looks like a Matilda. We think you should name her Matilda. We love watching your show. We have six tortoises. Including two Aldabras and two Galopagos. They are family.
Thank you for the work you do. Curious as to what the large tanks are called that you picked up in your U-haul; would greatly appreciate the information. Thank you kindly.
I'm thinking she looks like Penelope, Penny for short she has such a cute snout. Petunia also because her nose reminds me of piggy. I think that was the name of a cartoon pig. I Throughly enjoy watching the videos from GST.
The Fly River turtle has the most adorable piggy face. She’s quite the gorgeous girl…if she were mine, I would name her Ms. Fly (she’s clearly the fashionista of turtledom). Hoping she and the male will fall in lust…um, love…(no fighting!) and there will be lots of cute little smiley babies hatching.
I wonder what effect having a clear plexi or real glass window/barrier between the two tubs would have? That would allow the Fly Rivers to see and get accustomed to each other before actually introducing them. It would take some modification but the clear panel might be removed entirely during their coupling then swapped-out with a solid panel again out of breeding season. That and/or placing their enclosure(s) outdoors in an area exposed to natural sunlight part of the day during the summer months, it’s often just a matter of experimenting & getting the conditions just right (lower vs higher water levels, proper PH, etc) to initiate successful breeding. I’ve bred some tiny, extremely rare Australian Finches in the past -birds thought nearly impossible to breed in captivity by doing some research and trying various things that I thought made sense. Once I understood their cycle they bred for me non-stop. It’s not dissimilar breeding other animals in captivity. Trial & error and perseverance usually pay off.
I know in Tennessee,we have a freshwater soft shell turtle..I had a friend who caught on once while we were fishing..Some streams around Nashville are loaded with them..Are they still quite common?
Ok friends! What should we name this new lovely lady?? 🐽🐢
Spoinky! Because of that pig-nose feature
Let's keep with The Little Mermaid theme and go "Ariel" or "Ursula."
Sunday
Skittle because Scuttle and Skittle sounds adorable.
Name her Lady 😊

Glad you enjoyed it

that tank bubbling sounds like a bunch of cauldrons brewing lol
Double, double…

You are so kind Lori
Thank you so much for introducing us to these amazing creatures!❤

Love your turtles and Marurice!!! yay GST. Love the fly rivers. Praying for future babies.
I love "Flipper", not sure if you already have one though! "Flounder" would be cute, too!
Her shell and her skin are beautiful, almost pearlescent. Her plastron is flawless
A name like Pearl would be lovely. ❤

Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge with all of us turtle fans out here. Im voting for Scooter as a name for the new lady😊
I would name her "Sapphire", she is a precious gem, after all, right?
Omg I second this!! ❤❤❤❤
Yeah. Make that 3 for Sapphire. That’s perfect!!
in Indonesia, we call them monbi turtles (pig snouts), they are very rare in the wild, you could even say they are extinct in the wild but still exist in captivity
Caretta, a nod to her single species status in her genus.
Fly rivers are so amazing! Congratulations on the beautiful new female!!!
I believe Kennan has a Batager turtle and know he has Fly River turtles. He keeps his in the same pond, but it's quite large. Maybe they are the same sex and do not fight? What a fun video! Thanks for including us!
Thanks! Yes kenan has fly rivers but the Batagur he has are a different species than Maurice’s.
Tilly would be a lovely name. Always so cool watching your videos and learning
I like the name "Puddles.". Excellent video

She is so beautiful! I love the name Priya (pronounced preea) I just love what you are doing Chris! A big thank you to Maurice too!
I saw this species living in a big tank of a surf themed cafe in Moscow, always was concerned for the fella but years later it looked lively :’)
Such cute species!
Aww Scuttle has a pretty lady. She's so calm and flawless
Awesome video!!! I don't have any turtles myself, but I enjoy learning about yours.
Thanks for watching!
What an amazing video again. Great husbandry and adequate setup. Keep up the great work. ♥️ 🐢 🦎
Thank you! Will do!
A beautiful animal all conditions considered, incredible how resilient the metabolism and growth rates are compared to say snapping turtles, but I suppose an more omnivorous natural diet helps.
Is it me Ruby has a natural smile? 😍
Bubbles so cute love your channel karen
Omg I love them!! They are beautiful. ❤
Just wondering, do you plan on adding some floating plants to their enclosures? I like that aspect of Maurice's enclosures
That's the plan!
Maurice has lots of natural light which is required to keep the Water Hyacinths going through long northern winters. Perhaps Amazon Frog-bit or a lower-light floating plant or even artificial lily-pads (just to provide some shelter & privacy.)
It breaks my heart anytime I hear any animal or reptile is endangered. 😢
They need to educate Asian people to stop eating every damn reptile they find. Perhaps then many of their native species wouldn’t be endangered. 🤬
Someone posted Pearl. That’s cute.
I’m all for this! Love my fly river!
Woot! A new GST Video!
PINKIE. She's very beautiful and I love her eyes!
Miss Piggy Fly River, would be my choice. She's a beauty!
Since she’s a pig-nosed, why not “Babe”?
She’s so adorable!
I LOVE those tubs! They are really incredible. Are they custom or available for sale somewhere?
Reach out to Maurice: Maurice@aquaworksllc.com
Flutter I just think it’s cute…. Scuttle and Flutter 😂😊
What a cutie! I think Daffodil would fit her, since daffodil flowers have a long bit in the middle, like a fly river turtle's long snout!
Pretty turtle, she looks like Roxie ❤️
Chris, I hope you are able to produce FRT’s! Who manufactures those large square tubs? Are they designed for aquaculture? Thanks!
Thanks Tom! Reach out to Maurice: Maurice@aquaworksllc.com

I think she's just precious. I would name her Precious.
Nessie like the Loch Ness monster 😀
What a great turtle! Turbo is my choice of a name
Mistletoe nice Christmas name
OK GST. Perfect name. WILBER
Snoodles! Shes so darn adorable!!!!!!
How about "Serene" ... She looks so calm compared to Scuttle 😁
My vote is Pearl. Lovely Lady Pearl. Indeed!
How about Sunday? A lovly name for a lovly fly river turtle.
The Fly River turtle has the most adorable piggy face. She’s quite the gorgeous girl…if she were mine, I would name her Ms. Fly (she’s clearly the fashionista of turtledom). I vote Ducky, because she reminds me a little of a duck-billed platypus (my favorite animal) and for love of "A Land Before Time" an AWESOME movie ❤
Lola... Lovely Lola
I need to know more about those tubs lol. Are they for people or reptiles? I kinda want to sit in one..... ;)
as every sunday, i am here the first fan again
HOLLYWOOD, because he is already a megastar!!
She’s so lovely! Maybe Saoirse, for her name? The spelling is a little tricky because of its Irish origins, but I think it could be a nice fit!
Poseidon would be an awesome name for this freshwater aquatic species.
Esmerelda, feminine of emerald like ruby a precious one...
Fin would also be a great name for her.
I would name her Flygirl, cause she's got the moves. I love how their feet look like bat wings.
The batagur have the coolest head shape
porco rosso 😂 from the studio Ghibli film
I know in Tennessee,we have a freshwater soft shell turtle..I had a friend who caught on once while we were fishing..Some streams around Nashville are loaded with them..Are they still quite common?
Mine in in a 75 its a baby I have 2 big fluvals and a sponge for filtration, plus its 84 degrees. One sponge doesn't seem enough
Snow white, rosey
Thiri.....its Burmese meaning splendor!❤❤😇❤️🐢
When I look at these River turtles, the body plan reminds me of a sea turtle rather than a pond turtle.
Petunia would be a great name!
That turtle looks like a Bob Billby
I think Penelope would be a cute name. 🥰
Call him Slim Jim. He has that long slim neck
What do y'all think about LADY for her name? Thank you both for yet another amazing video. Ya'll are the BEST!!!!
Lovely❤❤❤
That new lady could be 'Aphrodite' . Hopefully her love will be apparent in the form of lil ones 🙂🤞
Emmy short for emerald as she is a gem.
Pippie for that cute nose
How about Precious, giving their life as well as reproductive ways are so precious. Tfs ❤😊
Linda?
But does Maurice have a personal website or youtube site so we can learn more?
SNORTUS or SNERTLE as a name ❤️
Amazing and interesting turtle! Her name should be Porcine!
Shaw
🥰😍🥰😍💕
She is so pretty
How about Scuba - it sounds like it goes along with Scuttle. 😊
Miss Piggy 😊
Awesome tank! Where do you find a tank like that?
Gracey 😍🐢
I think Pricilla is a nice name 🩷
The first name that came to mind for me was "Esther".
Mistletoe I put name in when video first came out
In Australia they call the ladies "Sheila" so that would be an appropriate name!
That name is raken by predatory fins female Fly river Shelia is twice the size as this one
Kelly of course 😁 because it's part of scientific name
Ajuma. It means priceless.
What a cute face they have. How about "Jessica" for her name? Great video as always. Thank you, Chris. 🤗
Can the eggs crack internally, appearing as "Live Birth" even though it isn't?
Question, how do you have the fine sand in the water and not clog up the filtration system?
Hi I like your new turtle
I have a name suggestion River. Thanks
