    I LOST MY CLUTCH….. AGAIN! Different Jeep though. There is that monument when you start the jeep and it just takes off, it was an indication of a problem. The clutch had very little action and that only near the floor. As I left and headed out in 5 o’clock traffic I soon discovered that shifting and stopping were going to be an issue. I drove home in 3rd gear slowing to avoid a stop and stall. Under the transmission bell at the seam there was some fluid dripping. This was my second clue. See the web site for a step by step install.

    what were the symptoms when you slave went. new to me with supposed bad clutch jk, no engagement of the gears at all no sdquealling grinding nothing, its making me woner if its the clutch or the slave

      When it went it was like I had no clutch. If you can get it to start and gear you might be able to get home but you'll have to turn it off and pull it out of gear. I was able to start the jeep and then slowly feed it into first gear Without a clutch.

    Awesome vid! Question for you; when you were manually pushing in the slave, did any fluid ever get past the seal and fill the boot?

      A little late with and answer sorry - a bunch of comments just started showing up. But none that I can remember.

    When I pulled the hydraulic line out of the old slave, there was no little rubber cap. I did it slow are carefully and I'm certain it didn't fly off and roll away. I looked inside and even smashed the slave open with a hammer and it wasn't there. The boot was torn on the old one though. I inserted the line into the new slave, removed the master cylinder cap and pumped it by hand until it had pressure. Then I bolted it up and pressed the clutch about 50 times. Jeep was parked facing up hill. I then put the cap back on and drove it around the block. It works perfectly fine. I checked the slave and no leaks. My question to anybody and everybody is, has anyone experienced this also? Not having the little rubber cap? I haven't driven it far yet so if it starts leaking I know why. But so far so good and it's interesting that there was no cap present. 🤷‍♂️
    Does anyone know the part number for the hydraulic line? Just incase.

      I think I did. Randi would have been up watching the reservoir.

    I think my slave cylinder is creaking when I push the clutch pedal in or let it out. Some have told me I can pull out the slave without disconnecting any line hydraulic lines and grease a pivot point in the inside.
    Will fluid come out after I remove the two slave cylinder bolts? If so do I need to worry about air in the system or is that just if I disconnect the lines?

      I have the same thing, it makes a weird squeak sound. I just don't think about it at home.

    How do you get the old slave off without spilling all the fluid everywhere? Is there anyway to drain it before hand?

      A little late with and answer sorry - a bunch of comments just started showing up. When it went id lost the fluid. Nothing to drain for me.

      Nope - when you push the clutch in it snaps. Sorry about the long time before answering. Looks like a ton of questions just started showing in the feed.

    I changed slave and master cylinder. All was good. Weeks later my Jeep won't go into gear. The lever that pushes in the clutch, that the slave pushes on is loose and has no tension. Any idea what my problem is?

      @@FloridaJeepRides Thanks, I can put it in gear but as soon as I start it, it will pop out and grind. I ordered a clutch kit. Gonna pull trans this weekend.

      We had our transmission rebuilt and a new clutch - just finding all the posts that youtube did not tell me about.

    can you bleed it with the pedal after its installed ? I'm about to do mine so just wondering if thats easier that fighting it after its bled ?

    • @FloridaJeepRides
      @FloridaJeepRides  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used a bleeder, it was less the 30 bucks from a local auto parts place. It made it real easy.

      @@FloridaJeepRides I will have to get one, I got it bleed enough to drive it but its still not right.

      Have you checked the top cylinder? I just changed the lower one and never did the top. I carry it around in the Jeep just in case. I also had the clutch and transmission repaired last summer. It would pop out of 1st gear some times.

      1995 wrangler I’ve had the same problem. I tried pumping it for several hours the other night. It seemed like all was well, the fluid wasn’t going down anymore so I let it set for 30min. Checked it again and it was fine. I hooked her up and slowly pushed the clutch I guess just to see how it felt. Too easy. I checked the reservoir again and there was like a big gulp. I thought that was strange. I wondered where the fluid would be going. Then another gulp and I looked under the jeep and the fluid is coming out. The pin holding the line popped out and won’t hold for sh€€t. I take it off and the ‘plunger’ has tore through the boot! Would it be best to put it on, fill reservoir, and have someone push the clutch in as I bleed them out? To hell with pushing the plunger cause I’ve been doing this by myself?

    • @FloridaJeepRides
      @FloridaJeepRides  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's still holding out, I did have a transmission shop rebuild 1st 2nd and 3rd from the popping out issue. Plus a new clutch. All is well for now.

      Working on jeeps is part of owning jeeps. I would hate to have to take my jeeps to a shop every time. When I pull off a good fix I feel like the cast away when he made fire.
